    You folks are really helpful. Batteries were very foreign to me and I'm grateful that you go over this stuff with some regularity. Same with the radios. After seeing the same things in many of your videos, it's becoming easier and easier to understand. I've watched hours of your videos on planes I have no intention of ever assembling or flying, but the process can be used from model to model so the information is good! You are very good teachers. Thanks for the help.

    Im a sub for all the channels you mentioned and I just wanted to say this.
    The RC Saylors just literally fly the plane and take the affiliate link cash and they are done, that will lead to "one and dones" all day long and is damaging the hobby. There is no instructional contents at all. They do top ten beginners planes but dont show people how to do the simple (at least it is to me now, thanks to you) things like, binding, building, repairing, radio progamming, charging the batteries, finding the CG and a whole host of other things which beginners really need. I just feel they are more interested in selling the plane than selling the hobby. I think thats the most succinct way to describe your fantastic work.
    You sell the hobby, the Saylors sell the plane. I feel your content is more valuable to the hobby as a whole.
    When I started I had had a fifteen year break from RC cars using 27MHz futaba radios and crystals. 2.4GHz and also 868MHz were alien to me. We were using NiCad batteries and brushed motors, you get the picture. I always wanted to fly aircraft but it was way out of reach then for me.
    You introduced me to the Volantex/Eachine P-51 and I realised that it was attainable to me. I moved onto other more hobby grade models like the UMX Timber which basically helped me to learn to fly manually. I then got the 1.5m Timber which your videos showed me how to build properly. The only thing I do differently to you is I went the OpenTX route rather than Spektrum. I'm heavily into FPV planes too (which OpenTX is almost a must for) which is different but you helped me add LED nav lights for FPV night flying (not for my benefit but for visibility by other aircraft on the whole). Where Im at now is, I have built a ZOHD Dart250G, wired it up with LEDs, a flight controller, a 4K split fpv camera, video transmitters etc, programmed it using iNav with telemetry on screen just like a jet fighter HUD and flying it long range out to 5 miles, sometimes at night (not your thing I know, but the basics started with you) A massive thanks to you and Meghan. A Paypal donation will be coming soon. Merry Christmas to you and your family too. DONT CHANGE A THING. TH-cam BE DAMNED.

      Your comment is very much appreciated! We work really hard to do all the things you said, and we DO want to sell planes too, but never to the detriment of the hobby, and it's reassuring to hear that you and others are seeing this.
      You know from your short 15 year break...when you came back, it was almost unrecognizable! Same for me, except I was only watching my Dad fly 20 years ago ;)

    Brian, I agree on the squishy tires. You can't even find them they're all rock hard. I fly on the same dirt road I grew up on and we always deflated our bicycle tires to improve the ride. Im thinking of making a circle pattern on CAD, then drilling large holes in the tire to see if I can soften them up. There are also chemicals that will soften foam, but that's just experimenting.

      If you ever hanker after more power, I think people generally move too quickly to 5S and 6S packs. I fly on 3700 60C 4S - just a little number crunching and you see it can deliver 220A. I've seen reports of the rudder being pulled off if you run 5S on the standard. I wonder what output power that was propped and motored for. I think the standard is around 600W.

    I have the original Husky and am impressed with performance on 4S. Dubros would be nice in 4.5 to 5" size. Appreciate all the time you put in. I get it how difficult it must be with work and hobby competing...oh, and parenthood. You are filling a necessary gap for these companies, one they should be filling quite frankly. People need to see the details to make a good decision. If I could offer any advice to you at all, it would be that suggesting a taildragger as a first plane really should happen only with understanding take off roll dynamics prior to first flight. Keep up the good work. Now if Northern Illinois weather would get out of this long funk!

The corners of the plug need to be shaved off with a Dremel, but it's not a dramatic amount, maybe 1mm and it's turned a 6 plug connection with label ready and fiddling with small cables into a 2 plug exercise without faff.

    Brian, Megan. All what you do don't go un noticed. Lot of sacrifice it takes to make what you do look so easy. Remember this. DONT FORGET TO HAVE FUN. TAKE A VACATION. I know quite a few, what some would call "influencers" -personally. Everybody has their thing. I knock no TH-camR at all. All work hard in the RC business in their unique ways. I support all that I can when I can. The thing you mention about life being short is REAL. I lost my Mother to Cancer just before Thanksgiving this year. There are other folks I know that have had similar experiences as mine this year. Give the kids and your four legged kids a hug for me. Family is precious. Hope to meet you fine folks someday. Remember, I mentioned this before. The invitation is still there.... You are always welcome to come to Triple Tree Aero (home of Joe Nall) here in Woodruff, SC. All you need is to bring the clothes on your back. I got the planes, radio, battery, etc.... :-)

      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, and I too lost my Mom to Cancer, only I was about 10 years old. Time is NOT on your side, so we have to make the most of it.
      I'm at PPG training this week ;) I kited my paraglider back and forth up and down the field and was able to reverse without major issues. I got dragged once - that was "super fun" - LOL, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?
      Anyway, Joe Nall would be real cool, but don't know for sure if we're going to be going or not. Megan and I are looking at the possibility of getting an RV Style camper trailer, so we can take advantage of some of these events. How cool that would be! But realistically, probably won't happen so long as I have to report to my "day job"....even though I have 5 weeks of vacation, I still have a really hard time getting far enough ahead to take more than a week or so "off from TH-cam".

    I'd tell people who consider buying the plain old 4S version, the Ultimate has significant upgrades that fix many of the weaknesses on that plane, not just power. The additional $60 gets you a far better plane, and is well worth it. Vector gyro, 6S capable, higher quality hinges, bigger metal servos, and overall better build quality. You will not be disappointed with the Ultimate.

      @@BrianPhillipsRC the original Husky had the problem of being too powerful for its support systems. It would tear off the elevator and rudder, and strip the servos because the surfaces were too large. People would upgrade the motor and the plane would tear itself to pieces. Thats why the Special Edition was made, and the Ultimate followed that to be 6S capable because lets face it, 5S Lipos arent used much.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the Carbon Z Cub SS 2.1m is quite a superior plane. If you flew them side by side, you would probably agree, but this 1.8m is a GREAT plane, but it's also heaver wing loading...thus my preference to the Carbon Z.
      When you get a BIG and "light feeling" plane, it's a GREAT and EXCITING combo to fly. I only wish I could get my mitts on the Hangar 9 Carbon Cub SS ;)

    • @BrianPhillipsRC

      I have not, but when you do I use motor winding wire (super thin and small) and steal voltage from one of the servo wires, but then you have to buy rolls of LED's or get individual LED's and sometime need current limiting resistors.
      I have some older video showing the process.
      I know I added LED's to the Horizon Hobby 1.2m Spitfire

Santa (my wife) bought the NX8 and did not use the link as I had asked. I will be purchasing more items and noticed that it did not show that it was from your kink and have heard that it should? Also if the item is on sale do you still get the commission?

As for links, there are Master links if we don't have a specific item listed, but also when you follow one of the links, there are something like 30 days worth of "cookies" that tell Horizon (in this case) that you came from our direction. If you did, we will be credited for the sales.
      We get a small commission for those who do following our links, but pleased understand, we want you to get what YOU love, and if you just want to throw a few bucks at us as a thank you, we have PayPal (one time) and Patreon (monthly).

    How do I assign Vector to a switch on my DX6 I have Bigfoot pnp and bought Vector module separate. My AR620 was already binded up with plane. Installed Vector. How do I assign vector to a switch. • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All you have to do is actuate the three position switch and make sure it's changing on the channel you THINK it's changing on.
      Watch my video and copy the part where I plug it into the AR620.
      Here's a trick to help....scroll once to the RIGHT and see the MONITOR MODE. If you're not seeing a change in state when you flip switch B, then look at the monitor for GEAR (Channel 5) and you'll see it go up and down as you flip the switch...NOW plug in any old plain servo and see if the servo moves...then you've got confirmation that you're actually controlling that channel...NOW plug that channel into the "SBUS/AUX" on the Vector...and you'll have control of it...BUT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT PLUGGED IN RIGHT....this alone might be your problem.
