      If you dig even deeper there all made in China!!!

    • @BrianPhillipsRC

      Crutch, these planes are most definitely made in China, but lots of commenters seem to believe their made by FMS. I don't know that for a fact, but don't want you to get the wrong idea. Hobbyzone.com IS an American company, and there's quite a lot of value being brought here. Keep in mind, so much of what we buy here in the states is made in China, and either assembled over there, or in another Asian country, or components shipped here for "final assembly"...but don't want you to be mislead by some of our lesser transparent piers ;)
      What I can say, so far, is that Arrows / Hobbyzone.com is a great company to work with, and we are very impressed with the quality of the planes we've done thus far (We've done two so far)...but the equipment is made in China and imported. Anyone NOT sharing this is probably not super trustworthy, and might want to watch out for their motives.
      We appreciate you being here, and want to give you good, solid information to help you make informed decisions.

      @@BrianPhillipsRC It would not be correct to deny that this is not made by FMS, FMS sold the same plane in a Blue color scheme for several years. The battery hatch and teh receiver hatch is exactly in the same place. Also the landing gear is exactly the same. It would not be truthful to say that this is a entirely new design by Arrows.
      Nothing wrong in telling the truth that it is made by FMS and re-launched by Arrows in a different color scheme. For example Eflite 70mm F16 is 100% same as FMS 70mm F16 except for the thunderbird color scheme and AS£X receiver.

    Damn good review Brian & Megan, this is the first time I have watched the video from start to finish. I'm liking this plane but I already have 10/3D aircraft. I have been onboard with Arrows RC for 5 years, very impressed with the quality of each plane I have purchased from them. Some where I read that Arrows RC is in Poland maybe that attributes to the quality of these planes and the lower price tags.......

    For 3d type planes with lots of throw that are hard to trim go into system setup, trim settings, and adjust the trim steps so each “click” moves a smaller amount. Before, 1 click up or down would go past center. Adjusting step size makes it so 5 or so steps have the same amount of adjustment for finer tuning and you can find the center. You’ll hear lots more beeps to trim now.

    So glad you reviewed this one, really wanted to see a brave pilot fly it :) I'm surprised you havent done any Arrows planes. I own 5 or 6. The Vector stabilizer is as good or better than SAFE, and they tune it for each model. My only issue is you cant adjust it like a Spektrum.
    You'll love Arrows models. They are as good or better than anything else out there. The STOL Bigfoot and Husky are awesome, and I'd put them up against the Timber and Carbon Z.
    The warbirds are great, the 54 inch glider is great, the F-15 and all the sport jets are must-haves. Every aspect of the quality will match the competition. Their Customer Service is top notch too.

      The timber? Bold statement. Lol. Arrows seems under rated. I got the arrow husky. Awesome plane. Except I ran the prop into the ground while taxing on tall wet grass. Since then the motor will shut off full throttle some times have to dead stick landing sometimes if I’m not high enough. Comes back on after ten seconds or so. I must have burnt the esc up or something. Or motor. Would like to make it 6s.

      @@ruger1420 I've done that on two planes and smoked the motors. The new Husky is 6S. I like my Bigfoot on 4S better than the Timber. You just put a Husky ESC in it and its good to go.

  • @jeffhenderson934
    @jeffhenderson934 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Friend of mine bought the 540. Somehow word got out that “building” ArrowsRC planes was my specialty, so I was asked to build it… but not maiden it…
    After your (as always) insightful video, I had the 540 built in 15 minutes. All that was left, 4 easy screws to hold the wings in place and setup the ix12. (It was about 8:00pm Friday night, and since I have no life, I got the Tito’s out and planned on watching the Braves blow a 5 run lead) 4 screws. Yeah Brian struggled, but he’s trying to film and explain. What are the odds I’ll have the same issue??? Those odds would have to be up there with Lou Gehring dying of Lou Gehring disease.
    Around midnight, I gave up. I had taken the wing out and checked to see if the screws lined up and I was, without the wing in place, 1/16th of an inch off. I had lots of ideas how to get things to line up, none were good. Then I noticed the expiration date on the Tito’s and I needed to speed things up.
    I took the Edge to the field the next morning (7:15am) and since it wasn’t mine, get some help or suggestions when all four screws miss. (Had the medium CA and Kicker on the table if all else failed)
    With the help of two large mammals, we slid the right wing in place and finally got one screw to line up. An hour later we finally got all four screws in place.
    The upside? The Edge 540 flew great. No real need for all the gyro and stability stuff. Easy to takeoff, fly and land. But those four wings screws…. I’ll be back in therapy like 6 years ago when I bought a Dynam Corsair and the HobbyKing 1600mm FW-190. (Both were several day builds, 3000 parts/screws)
    I do need to call Dan and apologize. I wished some hateful shit on him, and I said some things that questioned whether or not his parents were married when he was born.
    Rates for a non-3D pilot- 100/70, 80/70, 60/50. 4s 3000, 70c. No stability. (Tried it with 2500, and 2750’s. Liked the 3000 the best)

    No question, I would’ve said to the guys at the field- “Kill me. Kill me now!”

    Great video from you and wifey / Camera crew. Just destroyed my E-Flite EXTRA 300. NEVER going to use AS3X or SAFE ever again. Going to order this one from your site. Two quick questions. Can I completely bypass that factory stabilizer set up that comes with the airplane. Going to go Old School, Raw Dog and program Flaperons / Spoilerons on this one. Are all the servo plugs compatible to a SPEKTRUM Receiver. And will a 4s 2200 battery balance this airplane without any additional weight added. Let me know please. THANKS. ............. Getting sick of E-Flite.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can turn off the AS3X and SAFE if you don't mind FACTORY DEFAULTING the Rx, or if you get the Arrows Edge 540, you can bypass the Vector, which I believe has an OFF SETTING...but I'm actually not 100% sure on that. Great review .. lol ... you make it my next purchase .. haha...
    By the way, I their 1.8m Husky standard edition (4S), other than the slightly under power of 4S for a 1.8m plane, it fly awesome, and surely a great floater comes to landing, can do it easily with total throttle off .... it's special edition 5S would be a great plus point for some aggressive maneuvers.
    Haha .. talk about that cheap tinny battery buzzle, I have a dozen of those ... since my started flying in my 1st year, ... really handy .... in additional to the Tx timer (without telemetry)... also pretty handy once in a while I used some of the aged lipo battery ...which can be premature out of current ...lol.. this little buzzer does save the plane in this situation.

      We will be re-reviewing the V2 soon, so if you can wait a bit, then you'll be able to be even better informed.....BUT here's what I know NOW.
      1) The Arrows is every bit as good as I remember the V1 Extra 300 being, but it's been a while...and I'm a better pilot than when I reviewed that plane to be fair
      2) The Arrows is cheaper, both in the PNF status, and even with a proper 6CH Spectrum AR620
      3) The Arrows, from what I understand is IN STOCK now
      That being said, we don't make a point to try to steer you in one direction or the other, here, but we DO want you to make an informed decision. Of course Hobbyzone.com wants you to buy this plane now ;)
      P.S. You can follow the links for this plane and buy the Extra 300 from Hobbyzone.com...we want to support them how we can, but we also work with Horizon Hobby....so we have you back either way.

    Hey Brian, Nice work as always. Way to fly the snot out of your batteries, too... Love that stuff! This latest offering looks remarkably like the FMS Edge 540 V3 from waaaay back except for the upgraded power system & (Arrows?) vector/gyro control. Sort of like the latest HH (FMS) Extra 300 PNP. This Edge's canopy design hides the modern Edge V3 look. Needs a stouter landing gear as those wire legs are notoriously flimsy for a Bird of this size & weight...as you found out...

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @silversrt4ken
    @silversrt4ken 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's an able performer and looks well built, but after you add the receiver, it's same price as Eflite Extra300. So I'd just get the Eflite one. The whole advantage behind going with the smaller company is because it should be cheaper, right?

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not the same price, it's about 10-30% less depending on what Rx you buy. They're offering a coupon code too, for now...so it's a pretty good discount, and seems to be almost the EXACT plane...from what a bunch of commenters are saying...which I'm not gonna say...this is NOT the Extra 300, but it sure feels good, LIKE the Extra 300...so when we have a chance to do our V2 Extra 300 (soon...maybe next week) we can share our findings. I think it'll be hard to honestly recover the value added with the lower price, since it flies so dang good, and looks amazing still...

  • @thomasallan8113
    @thomasallan8113 ปีที่แล้ว

    This plane is a copy of the old FMS SBach with a more powerful motor. The main landing gear structure is weak, all 4 wing screws go thru both wings so you can probably fly it with only one or two of them installed.
    Once I installed a more powerful motor and used a 3300 mah 4S battery and put some weight on the tail, it became one of my fav's( I fly it as a sport pattern sort of, not 3D).
    Eventually the landing gear plastic structure broke and I replaced it with a classic composite gear screwed into 1/4" plywood epoxied into the foam.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a different plane, but like you said, still made by FMS....my reply from another comment just a few minutes ago, since I don't know which you'll get first...
      Arrows is made by FMS, there's no "copy". This is strictly a branding decision. For example, when you get your milk at the wal mart, and it says WAL MART (generic), I can almost guarantee it's coming from the same dairy as your more expensive "name brand" milk. This is how all MFG'ing works. That being said, there may be slightly different electronics, or livery, or packaging but again, they're the same basic item. Sometimes the electronics are IDENTICAL, other than different stickers on them, unless they're calling out a different spec. This is why we do our review videos, since there's a bunch of choices, and many times, it's HARD to tell the difference in performance.

    Question: Is the Vector your stabilizer of choice? How about using it on sailplanes? Many Thanks

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. It's what comes from Arrows, but they are proving to be GREAT! Vector is the SAME as the FMS Reflex, fyi, but I think the AR631 or AR637T are my "preferred" choice, if I had one. I like to setup the plane they way I want, but the Vector is a very close second, and makes these planes so much cheaper to outfit, no stabilization needed in the Rx...that can be a huge savings for some...but my thinking is that if Spektrum could make their Rx'es ALL AS3X capable and make them hit a $30-40 price point, they would basically kill off all competition...but they won't, and probably good for us in the hobby world. Better to have a few brands keeping pressure to develop new and better tech.

    This is a beautiful airplane but it basically looks identical to the Eflite Extra 300 version, the only differences I noticed was the slightly reshaped and sportier wing, canopy and the paint scheme. Personally this one would be the way to go over the Eflite version if you already have an unused and cheap receiver without as3x or safe, otherwise the bnf from Eflite with the Spektrum AR631 is a better, more complete deal.

      Agree
      I have the eflite extra 300 and man it’s a beast. Looks way better than the edge also you can tell the extra flies much better from the looks compared to the edge

      I have both, and we'll re-review the New V2 Extra 300 soon... Price on the Edge 540 is about 15-25% less right now, but you gotta decide which one you like better. I don't want to mislead here...they're both GREAT. I can't hardly tell the difference....but I can say some will defer to the Extra 300 because of the BNF status....but it's more expensive, and flying experience is super-similar.
      TOUGH CALL - We're loving the Arrows product thought. Megan and I were bracing ourselves for the Dynam treatment, but WOW were we wrong!!! Bascially FMS/Xfly/HH quality here! Super happy so far!

      Albert, to all their own...but FYI we'll do the new V2 Extra 300 - maybe this will help you guys decide which one you like better. Price is a factor, but I don't like to let the difference make the decision when it comes to a legit difference in flying experience.

      @@BrianPhillipsRC In UK, there's a test called BMFA B test, it involves doing rolls, loops, stall spin, figure of 8, etc. Once I pass that, I get a certificate that gives me access to fly jets and large models in event and other clubs. Can this plane do all that maneuvers?
