    Finally a detailing channel that has proper music in the background, and not these 'cat's meow' type of horrible 'noise' that can't be called 'music' as it is an insult to our ears. So props to Rad Garage's musical taste, too!

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh, I get my fair share of criticism over my music choices, but I don't think people understand you can't just put any music you want in a video if you want to monetize. I am so lucky that I have been able to collaborate with amazing artists that allow me to use their work with no strings attached.

      I feel exactly like you. Detailing my own car is how this channel was born. I just loved coming home and unwinding with a good wash. It has obviously grown to the point where I can't say no to other peoples' vehicles, but that feeling of calm and relaxation is still something I experience.

  • @Scwdetail
    @Scwdetail 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I own one of these cars in Atomic Silver. The lines are amazing. Each panel has intricate design elements i failed to pick up on when i first looked at the car. Then I detailed the car and I was blown away. After my first strip wash then polish and coating my wife came out and literally said Holy crap! Thats our car!?! Yep. 😜. Just got my graphene from Adams this week sooo excited to get started. Your videos are on another level sir. You truly make art with your work and your vids. Soo relaxing and instant gratification watching that car turn into art. Thank you

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, thank YOU! I really appreciate the compliment. You do have a very nicely designed car. You are so correct with your comment about each and every panel having some unique design language. The part that really impressed me was the creases under the tail lights as well as the swoosh in the rocker panel towards the rear wheel. A very fun car to work on and it gave me a whole new appreciation for what the designers at Lexus were able to accomplish with this car. Take care.

      RAD GARAGE hey Rick. I don’t know if you check past videos for comments but if not I will catch you on your next video. Since you are now verry familiar with the grill on this car you feel my love/hate. I started using some 2.5 magnification reading glasses(online cheapies) and it makes the process waaay easier. I have been through 2 headlamps though- both awful- what headlamp are you using in this vid? You like it? Have a preference? Any help is appreciated. Thx from Texas.

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that grill has a lot of things going on! I can imagine it would be tiresome if you were the type who needed every one of those little spaces perfectly clean and dry. I use the Scangrip iMatch. It's good. Lately, I have been finding that the battery needs charging too often. I'll be right in the middle of a process and it dies on me. I think the battery life has gotten worse, but it could just be that it is getting old. I do use it a ton. I give it a 7/10.

    Silver exterior with that Maroon interior go perfectly together. That color combo goes all the way back to the beginning of "motoring". I toured the BMW factory in Munich, Germany a few years back and they had a beautiful 1930's 328 in that color combination. Just from the video footage, I see exactly what you mean about the "fit and finish" of a Lexus. That interior, including the dash layout and electronics look to be some of the best in the auto industry including the higher end marks, sans Ferrari or something.

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, they go all out to give these cars a luxurious feel. One thing that stood out to me was a protective "sleeve" that spanned the spanned the gap between the seat and the centre console that prevents anything from falling down that crack. Very thoughtful. And, yes, the colour combo does have a classic feel to it. Interesting connection to the old BMW theme. It's so interesting to see what automotive trends have spanned the decades.

      @@RADGarageAlthough I am a fan of Nissan/Infiniti I might have to look at a Lexus in the future. They look incredible. And you can never go wrong with a Toyota engineered vehicle. With proper maintenance, it would probably last a lifetime. On the Silver/Maroon note....many of the German makes of old favored Silver as the color of choice. If you look at Mercedes and their "Silver Arrow" cars, Porsche in the beginning had a lot of silver prototype cars, even here in the United States, a lot of cars (that weren't the famous Henry Ford "You can have any color you want as long as it's black), but the higher end US "Bespoke" cars, many were silver. It just looks "Elegant" in my opinion. I had a silver SAAB 9-5 from 2002 through 2012. Absolutely incredible car. That thing was a sleeper, it had a TON of power. The darn Turbo charger was bigger than the engine block almost. Loved that car. Another great one Rick. Your videos get better every time!

    When detailing an interior i vacuum lightly but found that I can get a lot of crumbs and dust out if I use compressed air and blow it out from the opposite side as to not creat a tornado of debris . It sounds odd but it really gets into those tiny hard to reach areas way better than a vacuum and doesn’t snag the carpet like some vacuuming does . Also helps get grim and crumbs out of rubber before I use my brushes . Not to mention gets all the dust out after I run the vehicle for a second to get any loose debris out the air vents . Your the professional I’m just saying it’s worth a try love the videos been a subscriber for a while now .🤙🏽. I had one question why does my Adams wheels cleaner leave my tires orange even after I brush them and wash all the cleaner off . I’ve tried it several times and make sure I remove all the chemical but it still leaves it dull and orange looking ???

I like to use it to blow out the seams in leather seats prior to vacuuming and your comment has reignited my love of using compressed air. Look for more examples of this in my upcoming videos. Thanks for the input!

    Lovely work. How did you find working with that paint - would you classify it as soft or sticky or tricky? I’ve got a Lexus GS metallic liquid platinum that I’m looking at polishing and saw another video with Lexus dark metallic where aggressive pad with finishing polish seemed to do the trick for a 1 stage. I was looking at using consumer grade Meguiars Ultimate Compound and Polish 1 stage I don’t mind if it’s not perfect as swirls really hard to see in my colour.

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The paint on this Lexus was very nice. Now, mind you, I wasn't going for a correction on this project. I was simply using a soft polish to remove any residual Turtle Wax spray coating. I have heard mixed feelings on Lexus paint as far as how tricky it can be to correct. What's your experience?

    Nice attention to detail as always, Rick. That clear coat looked to be in good shape when you started, and the owner appears to take good care of the paint. • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did perform a quick clay, but I had to download all my footage to that point and recharge my camera battery so no clay footage in the final presentation. The clay didn't remove any contamination from what I could see in the clay bar. The car's paint had zero flaws other than a few little chips the owner had addressed with a touch up pen. It was simply a matter of removing the TW Seal N Shine and applying a double layer of ceramic coating.

    Hey I’ve seen a bit of your work and it’s truly incredible what you have done to customer’s cars. I appreciate you listing everything that you have used on this customer’s car as it’s more laid out and easy to find. In regards to the polishing, what would be your top pick on the type of pad to use with a DA Polisher to remove heavy swirls and scratches? It is very difficult to decide as most pads work best with different types of polishers. I would just like a general idea of what pad would do the heavy cutting and why it would outperform other pads in that specific situation. If you get back to me then thank you for your time!

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am by no means an expert in this area, but I find the Rupes wool pads to be the most effective (for me) when needing to perform a heavy cut. I use a variety of compounds, and the wool pads always perform well for me. Obviously, you need to follow that up with a finish polish/pad combo but the wool pads by Rupes are my go to when I am getting down to serious cutting business. All that said, I also have pretty darn good results with Rupes yellow foam pads. I'd add a few of each to your arsenal.

    Rick, I would love to know your thoughts on the seal and shine used on this vehicle before you performed your work. Was it difficult for your to remove, how do you think it holds up compared to other spray sealants?

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rami Kakish It seemed quite legit. At a few points in the process, I was wondering if the polish and ceramic coating was even necessary. That water beading action during the pressure wash was quite satisfying. It came off nicely with the yellow Rupes pad and 205, but it was too much for the Adam’s one-step pad and polish I initially tried. I don’t know much about the product to be honest. It seemed like an effective spray sealant though.

  • @njm92495

    what was the purpose/reasoning behind polishing before doing the ceramic coating? (is it getting scratches/"imperfections" out of the paint?) after application of the ceramic coating, how often should you polish? how often should you polish/re-apply the ceramic coating? thanks so much!

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The purpose of performing a polish on this car prior to applying the ceramic coating was to ensure the coating was coming into contact with a 100% clean and perfect paint surface. Any contaminants in the paint or residues from waxes, sealants or other coatings will inhibit the ceramic coating of bonding and its performance will suffer. This particular car had a layer of Turtle Wax spray sealant that I needed to get off and you can't just do that with a spray and microfibre towel. The paint was not swirled at all, but on many cars that is important to correct prior to applying a ceramic coating to ensure a strong bond with the surface. Once you have applied a ceramic coating, you don't need to polish until that time comes when you want to remove what is left of it. There are a number of products on the market you can use to finish off a wash that will help keep your ceramic coating performing to its potential. I reapply coating on an annual basis on my car because we have terrible road conditions for pretty much all months of the year.

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, there are some nicks here and there, which is par for the course when you winter daily drive a car up here. I use CarPro Eraser to rid the paint of any residual oils prior to coating. Thanks for the comment!
