    A car lasting 600k+ miles, even with impeccable maintenance, is very impressive. What makes this car so special is that it lasted that long with a SKETCHY service history! I have a 2004 LS 430 that my wife and I had planned to drive into the ground. One owner, like this one, out of Santa Barbara with meticulous service history. Unofrtunately, she was involved in a hit and run and they wanted to total the vehicle out because of a bumper cover and fender that needed to be replaced. A little back and forth with the insurance company and they finally decided that it's worth more than they originally determined and it is no longer a total loss! We are in the process of getting it repaired and can't wait to have it back. It has 170K miles on it and clearly has a ton of life left in it. Our plan to drive it into the ground lives on! I’ve seen worse. I have no doubt you’ll get it sorted out. On the transmission not being happy cold, I recently had that issue with a Nissan Xterra a fixed for my son’s girlfriend. It wouldn’t engage drive when cold, you had to pull it into low, then it would go and shifted normally. I replaced the fluid in the pan and added some marvel mystery oil, then drove it for a couple days. It now shifts perfectly, goes in drive immediately when cold.

    This will be an awesome series, we'll have to start calling Amd Hoovie 2. 😁 The big plus for this LS is that it didn't live in the rust belt. Remember folks, OEM parts is the only way to go. Seeing that aftermarket oil filter made me cringe thinking the oil change was probably done at the Jiffy Lube. 🤮Looking forward to my appointment at your shop next week! 18 Lexus owner here never driven in the winter.

    • @J_h_420
      @J_h_420 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oem parts are NOT the way to go alot of the time for alot of reasons, some being aftermarket sometimes fixes weak or badly designed original parts. Also, some cars simply don't require a part 3 times the cost of aftermarket for the car to work or be safe. Not including that some oem parts are just outright scams that cost more than the value of the car.

    • @doomkid02
      @doomkid02 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@J_h_420it depends honestly, my window motor went out on my 97 tacoma a while back. Check pricing on a oem Denso unit and price was over $400 for the motor alone. Ended up ordering a regulator and motor combo from RockAuto (picked the Aisin brand) for about $50. 6 months later still works great.

  • @sweetblue44
    @sweetblue44 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great idea! I used to live in the PNW and actually bought a GX from Lexus of Bellevue. Anyway, my boss back in the early 2000s told me WA was a car person's paradise as the mild winters and rain and lack of salt made it so they don't rot or rust. I did see a lot of classic cars as daily drivers there, many diesel Mercedes and old Datsuns and Subarus. I heard they started salting the roads after 'snowmageddon' so maybe this old tale no longer applies. It was definitely worth it to get XPEL or 3M PPF to protect from those rock chips up there as some folks kept their snow tires or studs on in the summer and tore up the roads.

    Not all aftermarket parts are junk. I've done my brakes with Brembo parts, for instance, and they are good quality. There are also aftermarket parts identical with the OEM, just w/o the logo and w/o the premium price tag. And with old cars, many times you get what you can find...
