- The Trump campaign has filed its first election lawsuit since December 2020. The campaign, along with the Republican National Committee, is suing to invalidate a Nevada law that counts mail-in ballots sent back by Election Day and received shortly after. Marc Elias explains the motivation behind the lawsuit and how the GOP is already taking action to cast doubt on the November election.

"Judge denies bid by voters to toss absentee ballot witness requirement" and "Nothing in state law, federal law or U.S. Supreme Court precedent bars states from requiring a witness to certify absentee ballots, a federal judge ruled on Thursday." “None of the plaintiffs allege that they have been unable to vote in an election for want of a witness,” Judge Peterson wrote in his decision’s conclusion. “Regardless of the challenges plaintiffs face, they have not shown that either the Voting Rights Act of 1965 or the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits a state from requiring absentee voters to prepare their ballot in front of a witness.” Peterson was appointed by Obama. Attorney Marc Elias brought this case attempting to halt witness signatures on absentee ballots - Elias failed again.

In 1860 when Lincoln was elected there were only 31.4 million people in the country… now we have 333.3 million people in the country but many service people out of country and their mail in ballots may not count… no way!!!

I live abroad. For American expats or US military personnel stationed abroad, we have no choice but to mail in an absentee ballot that is subject to the foreign postal system (there is an option of dropping off a ballot at a US Consulate or Embassy and have it travel through the diplomatic pouch, but the postmark occurs when it is then submitted to the US Postal Service), or fly back to the US just to vote in-person.

We have to return our votes by mail immediately upon receiving our postal ballots. It’s the only way to ensure our ballots arrive before the election date, and will definitely be counted.

My husband and I vote by mail. But when it comes time to fill out our ballots and return them, we do not put them in a mailbox. I don't care how close to election day it is, we drive to our Township Hall where they would eventually end up if we mailed them and turn them in, in person. I understand not everyone has this option, but if you do, I strongly suggest you do the same thing for the upcoming election. Vote blue!

I live in Las Vegas Nevada. I thought this lawsuit was dismissed already, I guess not. This must be a different lawsuit. I keep up with local news so this is alarming to me. First, our mail is getting rerouted to California (don't know why) but I figure it's a way to delay counting the votes for Nevada. As far as I know our Secretary of State is fighting these frivolous lawsuits. The last one was dismissed. We have a republican governor with a democratic legislature. This is concerning for my state. If the postmark is dated BEFORE the election day we still count the votes. We have military that live and work here at Nellis AFB, we have miners that work the mines in northern Nevada, we have union workers that work long hours at the hotels and restaurants, and immigrants too all votes counted in this state and our SOS does not tolerate cheating, YOU WILL BE PROSECUTED if you cheat at voting.

Trump is THE ONE that caused all of current problems with the post office services.
I work for a fiance company. We must count any payment received as NOT LATE if the mailed payment is post marked before the 30 day late mark. This went to court too as finance companies want to go by received date and consumers and ins companies and delivery companies wanted to go by post mark date.
