sadly, the "won not stolen" theory doesn't work because of how the wand changes hands the first time. In simplicity, it says the first brother's enemy stole the wand and murdered him for good measure

Harry wrestles Draco for his wand in Malfory manor. So he "won" the wand. Magic need not be used.

THANK YOU for theory 7. I can't believe how few people have clocked the setup with Newt, Flamel, and Dragon's Blood. You can debate how it has been executed so far, but it's clear that there were efinitely some great payoffs on the way with Fantastic Beasts 5, and a reason these stories were combined into one.
Edit: Honestly any of these theories are totally plausible. You're just making me sadder that we won't get the last two anytime soon.

I know...I hope one day someone will pick it back up again...or at least that we'll get closure in book form. But it's sad that the cast couldn't continue FB.

Maybe Ariana sacrificing herself during the first brawl so many years ago to protect her brothers also had some type of role?

Hagrid or newt could’ve used a fantastic beast plus their ones to attack him from behind. I mean it’s not against any wizard code to strike in the back so attacking with his full power which I’m saying new has around the same level of power as a senior member of the head of a department like his brother Theseus or maybe has enough power to match McGonagle or snake in some fields. He is a great user of his environment, considering his creatures so I’d say probably is the second strongest character in the fantastic beasts series that is not a known master of the elder wand

My theory was that Grindelwald decided to not use the Elder Wand against Dumbledore, in a sort of “I don’t need this to defeat my rival” sort of way and/or as a final courtesy to his former love.
Also, I feel something during the duel changed Grindelwald.

I've heard of another theory. Albus and Gellert once stole the wand of the youngest Peverell brother, Ignotus, from his grave and Albus kept his wand because Gellert wanted the wand of the oldest brother, which is the Elder wand. The theory says that both wands were made by the Peverell brothers themselves and not by Death (Dumbledore is a supporter of this theory). So they made 2 wands using the tail hair of the same Thestral which means they shared the same core. When wands with the same core are forced to fight each other, none of the wizards holding them can kill the other (like Voldemort himself said during the death eaters' meeting: My wand and Potters share the same core. We can wound but not fatally harm one another). Grindelwald cast a spell to kill Dumbledore, while Dumbledore cast a spell to protect. But you cannot kill another wizard when he is holding a wand of the same core, so the Elder Wand (although it's the most powerful wand that is supposed to win battles for its owner) did not give an edge to what proved to be the less powerful wizard (Grindelwald) over the more powerful one (Dumbledore) due to the fact that it was fighting its brother and the killing curse cannot be cast effectively against it. Then the Elder Wand chose Dumbledore who won it in a duel not by stealing or murdering in a muggle-style way. This theory can be proven correct if Priori Incantantem happened during the battle, but i haven't read the books so i don't know for sure

Interesting!! I have a fan fic where my character is the daughter of Grindelwald and Rosier! The theory number 8 is what my character (Hestia Grindelwald) expressed what happened and with the surrender came the reason why Grindelwald doesn't try to escape prison again.
    Good video!! ❤

i think duel happened but Dumbledore had a lot of help from Newt and possibly Hagrid (was it ever told why Dumbledore trusts Hagrid so much?)

The reason why Gellert Grindelwald couldn't defeat Dumbledore with the Elder Wand after the breaking of the Blood Pact is because he was not the true master of the wand because for one thing, he only stole the wand and never actually won it. As it was established in the book, wining the Elder wand in a duel is a more complicated factor in itself compared to winning any of the more usual magic wands of your opponents', If you manage to over power the previous true owner then the wand is yours or you can kill the owner of the Elder Wand with a frontal attack; by any means but, it has to be either by your own hand or your own wand, sending a snake or anybody else doing the dirty work for you would not count you as a true master of the Death Stick regardless of your pet/familiar being a Horcrux for your soul, magic is the major part of the physical being; but, a piece of your soul does not have tangibility for the use of magic or the use of a wand of any kind.
Even if Snape was the true owner of the Elder Wand, sending Nagini to kill him still wouldn't do him any good; Death and soul is not enough to win you the Elder Wand, Voldemort probably doesn't even know that his snake was a Maledictus.

I never understood how Gelert Grindelwald was related to a former "Hogwarts" witch if he had been a Durmstrang student? I don't see any family resemblance I always thought that he was more different than just by demeanor and power alone. I thought everyone Wizard and Witch that are European who are non-UK were students of either Beauxbatons and Durmstrang.

actually students from example: UK can go to Durmstrang if they want to...... Draco was almost sent to Durmstrang

@@villekuronen6242; It became true for Fleur DeLacour Weasley's Daughter but, that was after the events of Deathly Hallows.
Draco was probably bragging about being almost submitted to Durmstrang since the three major Schools of magic of Europe weren't exactly as much an open invitation to people outside their designated providences during Draco's time and the Years before that. We do not know of Wizard and Witch characters who are halfblood in the cultural sense as in: One UK/BI parent and one French parent.

"Hagrid's bringing him." To which McGonagall replies, "Hagrid isn't that ugly hairy guy?" Dumbledore answered "You forgot fat." 13:53
