      Its MY theory, i made it over a week ago on a different video of theres "I have to disagree about the dumbledore blood protecting Credence from the blood pact, if you remember, Grindewald slapped Credence in the first film. And he held ulterior motives again Credence, which we see in the beginning of this movie that if dumbeldore even thought of directly going against grindewald, the blood pact would harm him. Grindewald was directly wanting to use and harm credence and came at him physically repeatedly thoughout the movies to intimidate and make him submit, a throw back to the woman who raised him and hurt him from the first film.
      That being said, idk if you actually saw the movie, but Dumbledore says the reason it broke is because Grindewald sought to kill, and Dumbeldore sought to protect, and i think much like how every time Harry went against Voldemort and harry used a disabling spell while voldy shot a killing spell, and harry was able to push back, i think this has less to do with the intentions on the wizards, and more so the intentions of the wands. Like how Harry and voldy's wands were twins and didnt want to destroy each other, regardless what the wizards wanted, the wands themselves chose to support the one that wont kill the owner of the twin wand. I believe its likely Dumbledore and Grindewald had twin cores, even though they havent spoken on the wands yet. Their small battle is the ONLY time outside of voldy and harry that we see spells connect the way they did, and it would also make sense why dumbledore knew EXACTLY what harry was talking about when he said the wands connected. I believe its likely they found out as teens what happened when they fought each other, which likely is what pushed them to make a blood pact, as well as their shared goals at the time."

    The only problem I have with the “Dumbledore is scared of seeing Ariana if Priori Incantatum happens” is that… would Dumbledore not had casted thousands of spells since his 3 way duel with Grindelwald and his brother? What are the chances Ariana would even be regurgitated?

    • @calltomythos4961
      @calltomythos4961 2 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      I am thinking the same as you on this. Like they would have to hold it for quite sometime. I believe magic exhaustion would kick in before the wand got back that far on the spells casted. Especially since Dumbledore was a hands on DADA teacher.
      Like to become that powerful you need two things. A lot of practice. Plus studying a lot. Hence why the Auroras classes are that both of dueling and heavy studying.

      But wasn't Ariana was the only person Dumbledore (might have) killed? So Ariana would appear, just like the people Voldermort had recently killed. SCB, we need a video on how Grindelwald used a variation of Vulnera Sanentur to revive the Qilin when it was implied that Snape created Vulnera Sanentur himself as a countercurse to his own Sectumsempra.

    • @musicsperfume
      @musicsperfume 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Exactly. When watching the movie I was baffled because I also thought Snape had invented Vulnera Sanentur as healing/countercurse. But the FB movies don't seem to always follow HP canon (McGonnall's presence, the way portkeys work, apparating in Hogwarts,...).
      Maybe the words itself weren't Snape's invention since the word mean "wounds are being healed" (Latin).
      --> The intent and/or power of Vulnera Sanentur might be what made it Snape's invention. Grindelwald seems to manipulate the water for a temporary healing illusion (on a corpse), while Snape can use it without the help of water and it is a permanent heal (to prevent death).
      If the movie truly implies Vulnera Sanentur was indeed a known (albeit) advanced spell, it would -in my opinion- take away credit of Snape's ingenuity of making both a signature curse AND countercurse.

      I think it's an error of adaptation. The book never specified the counter-curse for Sectumsempra, it only says Snape mutters an incantation. The specific words are only said in the movie. That's what it refers when Grindelwald uses it.
      Or, in the universe of the movies, maybe Snape only invented the curse and didn't care how to heal its effects (in his teens, it wouldn't have been out of character for him), he merely knows it from experience or logic.

      I agree - blood magic is very powerful and the blood pact vial shows that Dumbledore's blood and Grindelwald's became one. Therefore a piece of Dumbledore lived in Grindelwald while a piece of Grindelwald lived in Dumbledore. Albus, Aberforth and now we know Aurelius aka Credence share the same blood. Therefore just like we learnt through the Lilly, Petunia, Harry link they have the same level of protection. I also suspect that when Ariana died in the three way duel she died partly because of her obscurus and it is possible that she gave her life to save Albus and Aberforth but because of the blood pact, and the fact that Grindelwald now shared their same blood the protection went on him too.

    I just spotted a problem. If he acquired the elder wand AFTER leaving Godric's Hollow then Prior Incantatem would not be a problem at all because it was not the wand used in the fight that killed Ariana. At 10:03 you state that Grindelwald seeks out the Elder wand after this interaction (in Godric's Hollow). This does not mean Dumbledore does not have the Elder Wand's brother, just that he would not fear the knowledge of who killed Ariana from fighting Grindelwald.
    ***EDIT***
    As that1guyunderurbed pointed out, the thought is Dumbledor had the brother's wand when the fight happened. There is still a problem. Prior Incantatem shows the spells most recently cast in reverse order. That means The fight would last days as 30+ years of every spell Dumbledore cast ( he is a teacher) would show up before the spells from the fight where Ariana died. Even then only Avada Kadavra showed the spirits of the murdered. We have no idea which spell he could have cast but it would only show the spell. Not who it hit.

    I believe Credence has the second brother's wand for the following reasons:
    1.) It's powerful enough to help control Credence's obscurus.
    2.) It'd be a show of faith gifting it to him not unlike Grindelwald previously gifting the Third Brother's wand to Dumbledore, a token to push him towards his side.
    3.) If Grindelwald was able to find The First and Third Brothers' wands like you proposed, couldn't he logically be able to complete the set unless we're told otherwise?

      I say no. Power of the Witch or Wizard has nothing to do with wand that has not chosen its master. Whatever wand and core that Grindelwald gave Credence will not work well because he was not chosen by that wand. Grindelwald was not chosen by the elder wand either. That is why they lose in duels. You don't need a wand to perform magic, but it does help channel the magic. Look to Chamber of Secrets about how Ron's wand that use to be Percy's does not work well for him. Ron's magic does not show itself until he gets a new wand from Ollivanders that chooses him.

      @calltomythos4961 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I agree the boys do put too much into the franchise. But they also don't pay attention to everything in the world of the wizards J.K. created. Like this theory can easily be dismissed. Because we have seen magic streams link in combat without being brother wands. When 2 wizards of the same power fight. It's easy for them to connect the streams and redirect the spells. Look at Dumbledore v Voldemort in Order of the Phoenix. And McGonagall v Snape in The half blood prince. Each time we saw the direct attacks link. And they had to be clever with how they attacked. Which is why Snape lost to McGonagall. Because he underestimate her. And she knew how to attack without attack directly. Also the magic streams connected when Harry and Voldemort fought on the bridge in the final battle before Harry pushed the spell into the wand killing Voldemort. So theory dedunked.
      Also to note that many powerful wizards do have runes on their wands. To help them better hold the power channeled through the wand without exploding or overloading the wand.
      As Oliver has stated. The wand doesn't make the wizard. But the wizard makes the wand. It is a tool used to channel and harness the natural magic within ones self.

    • @leventebardossy5962

      My theory is that the wand accepts the new master if he can keep it. Grindelwald stuns Gregorovich and flees without the wandmaker getting the Elder Wand back, ergo he can't take the wand back. Harry flees Malfoy Manor with Draco's wand without losing it to anyone, therefore that wand accepts him as the new master. That's why this doesn't happen in the DA sessions when they practice Expelliarmus. People are disarmed, but they get their wands back right after, so the wands keep their masters. The Elder Wand is unique because it "watches" its owner and when he loses his wand, it loses the Elder Wand too. My guess is that it either has an additional charm on it, so it can belong to the most powerful wizard even if hidden, or wands can have a mutual master and they "sense" when the master loses one, and he loses them all in an instance (unless the wand type dictates otherwise), and we just never saw it unfold.

    It is my theory that the location of the fight that matters. When Dumbledore was explaining to Newt and the others about Buthan, he explains that it is the origins of their most ancient magic ( or something along those lines) he then goes on to say that if you listen closely, the past reflects to you. I don't think that this spell was Prori Incantatum. But I think it is the spell of the blood pact. At the beginning of the movie, if you pay attention to the background, it is the same color as what we see at the end, and it also functions similarly. It's like Grinderwald's and Dumbledore's little pocket dimension where they can interact with each other and communicate, but it doesn't affect the real world. When Grindlewald attempts to kill Credence, Dumbledore and Aberforth both protect him, similar to the fight that killed Arianna. And as a result, Bhutan whispered what happened that day to: The blood pact. All of those emotions during that duel were funneled into the blood pact, resulting in the new spell, which I am calling Priori Absconditum, to burst out, allowing Grindlewald and Dumbledore to duel each other, whilst the blood pact's magic fades around them due to the sudden amount of 'betrayal' it sensed between Grindlewald and Dumbledore's past selves. Actually have a "Philosopher's stone" question or rather 2..: It just came to me today, but why didn't Voldemort tell Quirrel "Hey, that's Snape. He's one of mine! Work together."
    Did he already suspect Snape being Dumbledore's man or think he betrayed him? Otherwise, why did he deem it to risky to reveal himself (simply because of his weakend state..?)?
    Second question: At the very beginning of the book, when Harry receives his flood of letters, why do all the owls stick around in the first place? They don't receive payment after all for delivering school letters, wait for a reply or until the recipient has read the contents...
    Did Dumbledore put a spell on them? How did he know anyway that the letters weren't being read? Is there a charm on the letters much like todays messengers "double tick" to let him know they have been read? There must be some sort of charm since the address also changed when the Dursleys moved Harry to a bedroom or when they went away.
    Either I'm not seeing something or I could really use another insight on these topics^^
    And I don't think it already came up in the ... idk exactly... 6 years or so I've been following your channel :D
    Oh, also actually regarding this video (sorry :D): If Dumbledore's original wand and Grindelwald's Elder wand (or maybe he didn't use it for some reason in the infamous duel?) really did share a connection and Grindelwald's regurgitates and Auriana doesn't pop up, that would have indisputably meant that either Dumbledore or his brother accidentally kill their sister. When Dumbledore drinks Voldemort's potion, he still doesn't know, so either the wands did not share a connection or they did and it was not Grindelwald who killed Auriana.
    It would be such a devastation to know it was definitely either himself or his brother - and being Dumbledore, he kept it all to himself and never shared this knowledge with Aberforth.
    It would put in a whole new layer to the guilt that had been eating him up ever since that tragedy.
    - Oh, but for that to even have happened, Grindelwald would have had to have used his own original wand, since the 3-way duel took place before he stole the Elder wand.
    Also, he has killed way too many with the Elder wand for Auriana to even pop up after all these years.
    I really didn't think this one through before editing my comment :D It is a complicated matter with many different layers to consider after all. Also, because we know what happened after...

Even if this is true (which it can't be) and the Elder Wand was twins with Dumbledore's wand, the Elder Wand did not fight in that three way duel. Plus it would have to go through 50ish years of spells to even get to that point if it was. They'd be there all day!
    It's more likely that Dumbledore fear knowing the truth because it would destroy him utterly. Grindelwald wouldn't have cared (or would he? Since Gellert still loves Albus and possibly even his sister o.O) if he killed her, where Dumbledore would. He could have feared knowing this since he would then have done something we (as far as we know) had never done: take a life. The man who preached love and reconciliation would then himself be no better at his core than the man who lusted for power and control!

    No to the Elder wand having a twin. Death crafted only 1 wand. The Twin Asian unicorn chooses Albus because of his pure heart. The Elder wand did not choose Grindelwald. Gellert stole the wand from Gregorovitch was not beat in a duel. Gregorovitch was also not the owner of the wand. Gregorovitch was in possession, but the Gregorovitch had not been chosen by the wand. If there is a 5th Fantastic Beast movie. Albus will beat Gellert Grindelwald in the famous duel and become the owner. The wand will choose Albus, and that we know. We know that Grindelwald is not the owner because Tina Goldstein was able to disarm Grindelwald in the first movie. Tina Goldstein has the allegiance of the Elder wand at this time of the story. The wand chooses the wizard. Grindelwald tried to tell Tom Riddle this in the prison cell at Nurmengard Castle before he was killed. Albus may have a powerful wand, or is it Albus is a better wizard because of his pure heart! Your theories are good though. If you want to know more? Reread the UK first editions again and you will see I maybe on the right track.

      The wand will still fond to the original owner of the wand, that mean Grindelwald still can master the elder wand . Though Grindelwald is not the maker of the elder wand or the original owner of the wand , the elder wand may have some connection between Grindelwald cause Grindelwald got the elder after he left dumbledore , that mean he possesed the elder nearly for 20 years or more , a connection of 20 years will not be easily waiver . However ,what we deducted do not count , what jk rowling said only count since she is the author of the wizarding world

    By the same logic, the second brother's wand would've been a powerful healer's wand, able to rescue people from the clutches of death from incurable ills and lethal magical wounds, and when he failed to save his loved one with it, he made the stone of the gaunts... the wand never made it to voldemort because he's the opposite of a healer, and the wand itself probably chose to be inherited by disciples of antioch the healer rather than the non-healer faimly line

    I'm still on the fence with this theory but I can see the points being made. With Priori Incantatum I always wondered how it may show spells that don't have such tangible physical implications like murder and destruction. What if the last spell was accio? Would it show what was summoned? Do cleaning or vanishing spells just show what was cleaned or vanished? What if it is the witness and caster for an unbreakable vow? What if it was the cushioning charm placed on brooms? So many questions surrounding that alone to me.

    • @ethanquirk28
      @ethanquirk28 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since it shows the reverse of the spell, I would assume accio would repel nearby objects with a strength proportional to the original casting

    All wands are usually made more than once, true the older brother took the elder wand but there might have been a prototype of sorts, also the 3 brothers had wands, they all could have been made by the same person, maybe a parent? Obviously different woods but the same core from the same thestral. The family pet to which all the brothers were fond of. If hogwarts used thestrals than it stands to reason there was a time they were accepted.

  • @Metalhammer1993
    @Metalhammer1993 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    HonestlyI do believe Dumbledore's wand could be Ignotus' wand. because maybe I am bugging right now, but I sommehow rememberHarry's cloak not being demiguise fur but to be speculated to be thestral hair. So it would sound like the three brothers had a bony horse friend, Maybe "Death"? Maybe They met the thestral on that lonely road and they got the materials they needed from it? In that case the brother wand could belong to either Cadmus or Ignotus.
    However I am not sold on one thing: the wood type: I believe it IS a rowan wand and why Gellert disregarded it. "Sorry pal, wrong wood and doesn't even work. Albus? you wanna give it a spin?"
    "Works better than my old man's" (and yes i believe that is why Dumbledore took it. the Dumbledores at the time were strapped for cash. I do not think Albus actually had his own wand. They after all had no breadwinner in the family with his dad in azkaban and Kendra taking care of Ariana. And if it is Rowan it might at least work better than his dad's. remember every wizard can work with every wand, but they get better results with the wand that chose them. So Dumbledore effectively got the best of his time with the handbreak pulled up and in reverse gear.)

      I always wondered if them "meeting death" was more meant to be a metaphor- perhaps they all had a near death experience, or their own personal tragedies and created the Hallows in response to that. You could then see how the story would get twisted and reinterpreted via word of mouth.

    Wand lore has always been one of the aspects of Harry Potter that is difficult to make sense of. While the properties of different woods and cores are fascinating to me, the ideas of wands choosing their users and loyalty changing have always seemed paradoxical, as if wands were mere flaky lovers who initially choose a partner then renege in favor of the Gigachad who cast a Disarming Charm. I no longer believe as much forethought went into the lore as I once thought, which is a shame because it was a huge part of the resolution of the books and is also shaping up to be important here in Fantastic Beasts.
    Big fan of the allusion to rowan wands, but as a fan of "Dumbledore the Gray" rather than "Dumbledore the Paragon" and card-carrying member of "the Qilin should have kneeled to Jacob society" I hope there's another explanation.

    • @riluna3695
      @riluna3695 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's worth noting that it is primarily the Elder Wand that changes loyalty so frequently. The flaky lover, as you put it :D While Ollivander does mention that it's possible to "win" wands from others, this is clearly not a super common occurrence, as there are plenty of instances of someone being disarmed, and then their wand works just fine when they get it back later down the line. A lot of people get disarmed during the confrontation in the Shrieking Shack during book 3, for instance.
      Another possibility would be that the average wand accepts both the new "winner" AND the original owner as both being worthy to wield it, which would solve both problems handily, but feels like it would lead to other problems that just coincidentally never come up in the books. Hard to know, and I agree that it feels like it may not have been perfectly fleshed out before hitting the shelves.

    This may seem like a little loaded but I'm curious....
    How would the Peverell brothers "seen Death" to begin with? Clearly all three could see thestrals, which means something had to happen for these brothers to witness a traumatic event! What event could that be?!
    Let me ask, where are their parents???
    Who were they? What were their names? What happened to them? Where were the extended relatives? Did Antioch, Cadmus, and Ignotus get abandoned or left behind? And, how??
    Because that might explain why the Hallows came to be...

    Theory for the end. Grindelwald will just give up at the end of the big duel either due to his love for Dumbledore or for some other reason based on their interactions. It would make for a really cool call-out to the Rita Skeeter writeup about Dumbledore from book 7 as well as display Dumbledore's desire and ability to do everything he can to not cause death or pain, even to his enemies.

    I say that the 2nd brother would have wanted to make his own kind of wand. So I think that he would have had a wand that was made out of a different wood that wouldn't copy his younger brothers or his older brothers wands. So I think that Salazar Slytherin's wand is the middle brothers wand and it was made from snake wood. We also know that this wand was passed down through the generations and that this is one that is planted at ilvermorny school of witchcraft and wizardry.

  • @QuinnMallory-od1hw
    @QuinnMallory-od1hw 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Another point is poorer wizards like Ron were given second hand wands. Some wands became family heirlooms, even more as trophies by the ministry of magic as proof of their owners demise. Obviously some were buried with their owners out of respect. Very possible someone robbed a grave, not necessarily dumbledore. We know the elder wand was stolen in one of Harry's visions.

    So, that’s actually a misunderstanding in the movies. In the books, Priori Incantatem is actually a golden light beam connecting the two Wanda and then forming a dome around them. The movies didn’t show this and then for some reason the movies thought it’d be a good idea to show every important duel in the series having a connecting wand moment. But those aren’t actually Priori Incantatem.
