@northofhome28 I did it, in TV anyways, for 7 years. I see a lot of comments about Clooney and his "singing" on this movie. He's got a GREAT appearance on Graham Norton's show about laying down the tracks for the album, and how he automatically assumed he'd have a great voice because of his family line..... He's quite blunt about the reality when he understands how the talent didn't travel, but it's a funny story.

I first watched this movie in school after we read The Odyssey, I loved figuring out the characters and making connections between the movie and the poem
Emily Amado It really does add some enjoyment to the movie to see those connections :D
John Goodman plays a fantastic Cyclops

*Ok, I try. Thank you!*
I’m not a big country fan, I grew up with bluegrass then got into rock, then metal, then rap, then back and forth, but I’m 27 now and realized a good song is a good song. This is a good song. Toby Keith has some good songs too.
I've seen this movie a dozen times, and now I'm watching clips of it on YT. It never gets old.
God I love this film.I knew who George Clooney was but I thought the other two were real hill billies. Well done boys you were absolutely wonderful , and I like many others will watch this film again and again. THANK YOU I was feeling rather low, and you have cheered me up no end .
Stephen root is an incredible actor just watch him when they are singing his body language and everything else is perfect
Yes, quite right. Root clearly is a Master. He does manage to play each character.. "totally convincing.." :)
I’m glad I’m not the only one who saw that
Потрясающий фильм, великолепная песня! Браво!))) Голосуем за Паппи ОДонелла!)))
Such a great movie. It should have got a lot more recognition .
Agreed!
Honestly it’s so good
One of the best
So glad I watched it. This is how a movie should really be!
I thought it got a significant amount of attention, for a Coen Brothers movie, at the time.
IF YOU NEVER SAW THIS MOVIE WATCH IT. FUNNY, GREAT ACTORS AND MUSIC. I LOVE THIS SONG!
Even in the film, the song was a hit soon after. 😀👍
"I'm a dapper Dan man damnit!!"
I live this song
it also has a lot of heart
George Clooney is the greatest actor in this movie no doubt about it. Great job and great movie.
I was in a pretty sad mood, heard this song come on shuffle and wanted to watch the scene, feeling better now. Music is so great.
I remember around when this came out my best friend and i were big metal heads, it's like all we listened to, but then we heard this and were totally obsessed. This adaptation of the song is baaaaadass. Timeless
Well aint this place a geographical oddity.....two weeks from everywhere
Imma Dapper Dan man !!! And I don't want FOP dammit !!!!
I've been there.
I grew up there.
I'm a dapper Dan man not fop dang nambit no cus in the market this is a family place
my hair . . .
Easily one of my favorite movies, if not the favorite. Lost track of how many times I've watched it.
How many times have you seen it?
Not enough yet!
"Only 4 of us can write".
Yeah because they lied and said there was 6 of them and because he's blind he doesn't know.

I am a big fan of rock music but you absolutely can not go wrong with bluegrass music
Bluegrass, country, and blues are the ingredients of rock and roll.
Ole Goerge Clooney is a Pure Treasure..
Stay well Goerge..
Thank you for all the Great Acting..
I can feel down and I watch you and the other actors in script..
Then i feel lifted..
We need movies like this..
More then ever to feed our hearts and minds..
I knew it wasn't Clooney singing bc it would be illegal to look that good and sing so well.
Funny because his Aunt is the famous singer Rosemary Clooney! He must have some pipes in there somewhere!
Never was a big country or bluegrass fan until I saw this movie and bought the soundtrack. Great music and fantastic film
You'de prob like Billy Strings. Very talented
This movie is easily one of my top five favorites of all time. Can’t believe it’s so underrated.
Como se llama la película
I just bought a Dapper Dan pomade and now I'm watching this. 😂👍
I bet you found it in a store two weeks away from your house.
It took me 22 years to figure out this movie is about the original story of.... Awesome
Classic Line: We thought you was a toad!"
Them sy-reens did this to Pete. They loved him up and turned him into a horny toad!
Damn we're in a tight spot
He was a toad but he got better.
We need to find some kind of wizard can change 'em back!

Dan Tyminski has a great voice, love his guitar, mandoline and songwriting skills too!!
Just watched this for the first time in 2022. What an absolute disservice to myself not seeing this any sooner, instantly goes into my Top 10 films of all time.
By far George Clooney’s best performance. I guess he needed to be surrounded by greatness.
I absolutely agree. This is a superb movie in every respect.
@Paul.....he does remind me of somebody. Would love to see that one again.
Dan Tyminski has a great voice.(Clooney's a great actor) The southern depression era Odyssey: "Brother Where Art Thou" is imo a top ten script w/near perfect casting. Goodman, Clooney, Turturro, Hunter ,Blake etc... really got into their parts & it shows. You can count on one hand the movies w/such a star studded cast that are worth watching more than once. I'll stop & watch this one every year. The flash backs of 'Jesus' polishing his bowling ball aren't enough to tarnish Turturro's excellent job ether.
You come in here *BANG BANG BANG* sign these here papers and ya I give ya...ten dolla peice,😂😂😂 idk why I always love that part
Me too, I think it's the timing of the BANG BANG BANG that gets me
Waking up to re-watch this masterpiece!
Sleep is for the weak.
2:31 Clooney's stance at the mic is one of my favorite parts of this movie.
I like it later on when they sing with the beards and he pulls it down idk why but I lmao at that
I like his express
Meant expressions
The big microphone masking half of his face makes his eyes more noticeable.
@@BlahDBlahDBlah and better hides the fact that he's lip-syncing
I can't express to you how much I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!
❤❤❤❤love this, must move to KY.
This is the film that helped me decide to go to film school to become an editor. Didn't pan out as a career but I wouldn't trade that experience for anything.
@northofhome28 I did it, in TV anyways, for 7 years. In the end I wasn't in love with the process... being an editor can be very lonely, and as the great Walter Murch said "As an editor, if you do your job well, nobody will notice." That's not pessimism, it's 100% accurate. "In the Blink of an Eye" is hands down the best book about being an editor, written by the greatest of all time. :)
This is a Masterpiece!! I can watch it over and over w/out getting tired, Excellent all around, I only wish they made more movies like this as opposed to all the cgi nonsense going around, regardless a Masterpiece!!
Thank you for this Video!!! I didn't know the movie and watched it yesterday. What a gem of film art!!!!
George Clooney; John Turturro; Tim Blake Nelson; did a fantastic Job.
In my opinion, this is actually George Clooney's best work as an actor. Simply magnificent.
Thanks also the Coen Brother for this masterpiece.
AND of course the song here nails it all
This song reminds me of the love of my Life, no one knew he could sing but my sister has a recording of him singing this just like an angel, imagine how surprised we all were , he was amazing. Miss him every day ❤
An exhilarating, if not a bewildering, film. Clooney just plays it up.
This is one of the best films in American cinematic history, change my mind.
This song and movie just popped into my head today. I'm so glad I grew up with this movie in the early 2000s.
Whether it's slapstick comedy, or chilling suspense, The Coen Brothers are film making geniuses
Hot dang, dem boys can really call the pigs!
Quality bluegrass and only with a guitar and those wonderful harmonious voices. Who knew George could sing before this movie?
The guitarist should be careful, I think that guy wants his eyes.
Get Out 😂. Good one dude.
Man lost his sight from drinking strong moonshine, yep them white lightning if yous not careful drinking that stuff it sho blind you.
Good one
Nice.🤓👍
Hah
Love this movie so much.
Homer’s Iliad applied to American historical fiction.
A beautiful piece of work.
Homer's Odyssey actually. Iliad takes place during the Trojan War.
Lol.
You got that right fiction
Curzon176, you are correct. My bad.
M.T. Ed 71 Odyssey, actually.
This song gives me chill by how good it is
I see a lot of comments about Clooney and his "singing" on this movie. He's got a GREAT appearance on Graham Norton's show about laying down the tracks for the album, and how he automatically assumed he'd have a great voice because of his family line..... He's quite blunt about the reality when he understands how the talent didn't travel, but it's a funny story.
That's not George Clooneys voice.
Dan tyminski is the name

Christine Von Lossberg Good way of putting it, yes I do!
I loved Clooney's face as he's lipsyncing. Really makes you believe his character is just winging it big time.
George Clooney was supposed to sing himself and trained for it but then it got scratched
He's actually singing, but it got dubbed over.
@@GnRGaming still, I like the way he acts the scene.
I first learned sing this song as a littl'un in the mid-1950s. A neighbor had a copy of the Stanley Brothers recording of it. It wasn't as hopped up as this version.
I’m here while this virus is going on. Looking back at the good old days
Same here. During quarantine this movie and the soundttack became my daily dosis for maintaining positive vibes
Tommy Johnson was played by a fine singer/guitarist, Chris Thomas King. He has several fine albums out there.
i came to the comments to find out who did that guitar part. thought Tommy was an actor but someone else playing guitar. I'm impressed. that's some damn fine picking.
I think they make some resemblance with Robert Johnson
