- A Vlog of my first FPV flight with Rotor Riot's newest prebuilt quadcopter: the MOXY Pro Spec by Bubby FPV!
I personally think this drone looks amazing, and I love Bubby's flying style. I'm posting this with no stabilization turned on so you can see any jitters or prop wash from the build. Spoiler: there's hardly any!
A big thanks to Caleb, Stacy, Drew, and Tyler for helping me get this drone set up with 6s, and all the extra epic goodies! I've been massively impressed with Rotor Riot's service!

I have a Moxy 5" Pro-Spec Built & Tuned Drone - 4S version coming in the mail soon and I'm so excited! I'm coming from the DJI FPV drone so I'm super excited to see how it performs!

Nice! I got the Moxy Pro-Spec kit (4S) as my first quad (and first build) and have been having so much fun. The thing is so solid. I had a DJI video failure (no longer happening, I think one of my solder joints was weak so I redid it) while I was 100 feet in the air at the peak of a power loop. Had to disarm for safety and there wasn’t a scratch on it after that fall.
Is the only difference between them the motors? I’m nowhere near outgrowing 4S yet (heck, I ran it at 75% throttle limit for a couple weeks), but I imagine eventually I might want to upgrade it.
That's fantastic! Yes it definitely seems built to last, which is good for a freestyle noob like myself! I think the only difference is the motors, but I'm not tech savvy enough to know for sure. Some flight controllers I know handle a range of cells (like 2 to 6s) but again, I'm relatively clueless about the actual parts.
I only ran 4s for a little while on a Protek 35 cinewhoop and had a blast, but was drawn to 6s from the beginning for the longer flight times and being able to still fly 4s and 5s batteries on a 6s quad. 6s quads can also be throttle limited as you know, so you have the option to scale up when or if you'd like to. For freestyle quads, all I've ever run is 6s so that's all I can really compare it to haha :D For my paid gigs I actually use my 6s deadcat with a 2200mah 5s battery on there. It lasts for about 10 minutes and gives me all the maneuverability and power I need to chase dirt bikes around. Those big 5s batteries are a bit chunky for freestyle, though haha :D

What sort of flight characteristics does the spoiler add? Used to race rc trophy trucks growing up and lost my spoiler in a race and announcer said “don’t have a wing, don’t have a prayer” and I remember that to this day.
Lol I have no idea if it affects flight characteristics all that much. I might just be too new at fpv to tell. What I do like is having a semi rigid chunk of tpu bolted to the back to protect the antennas and battery in a crash. Plus... pink spoiler! It's awesome!

Lol.... Wifey wearing UGG boots on the hike... My girlfriend does the SAME THING every time we hike! Usually I get the "I didn't know we were going to hike off the gravel path" ... As if we've ever stayed on the gravel path.
Hahaha if I'm flying, it's pretty well a guarantee that there will be a crash and a hike! Next time you're out here we'll have to take a day off riding and go fly some red rocks!

Man, now I’m confused. The Rotor Riot listing for the Moxy Pro Spec kind of makes it seem like it’s good for 4 or 6s. I was all set getting ready to order too, glad I saw this! The description says the ESC is good for 3s-8s and it seems like a lot of their builds seem to be good for 4 or 6. I guess now that I look closer at the description, it doesn’t say anything about recommended batteries or voltage levels. 🤔 Can you go anymore in depth with your motor choice please? Are the standard motors not compatible with 6s, or just not optimized? Great vid and beautiful family btw, you’re a lucky man! 🙌
I believe the Drib motors that it normally ships with are for 4s, with a much higher kv. Rotor Riot was super cool to put 6s motors (1860 kv vanovers) on it for me. From what I understand, using higher kv motors with 6s batteries can burn up the motors.
Betaflight has a newer feature that allows you to add a throttle cap to the motors. We do setup all of the 4s builds with a 6S profile so that you could use a 6s pack without frying anything. The profile will automatically switch based on the battery you plug in and It works pretty well but I think the motors perform best with the battery they were intended for. If you only plan to use 6s then I think its best to just go with 6s motors (From the dude that tunes the drones @ Rotor RIot :))

Awesome video! I've been flying the HD1 kit from rotor riot for about a week now and I'm absolutely in love!
It's crazy because the quads they build are excellent, but the service is what has won me over. I just bought a Skyeliner and asked if they could toss on Let's Fly RC motors on instead of the blasters, and they did it no problem! Seriously they are all about community and helping the noobs like myself. From the service to the first "no solder" drone, they're pushing this hobby forward in such excellent ways!
@@ridethesky3259 I couldn't agree more, I had a little issue myself at first and Gage was extremely helpful and got me going in no time! I'm happy to support this company and probably will for years to come!
The no solder build is amazing and I hope it catches with the community, I don't have good internet where I live so the RTF kits from Rotor riot are one of the main reasons I'm able to fly. Thankful for them for sure 🙏

Also gotta say not too shabby deflecting there sir wìth two interesting spots to boot. I haven't gotten one yet but its next on me list. Good stuff. Subbed.
No doubt Bubby is a genius, and I think even the spoiler proves that! I love that he keeps the antenna very close to the frame for durability, and the spoiler could potentially act as a buffer for both the antenna, the battery, and the rear props while still looking massively suave :D
