There is Stoppy Starty-itis, No more - A Lovely Clean Model Indeed, I do like these and Have Yet to get one - Another Successful Consultation with Dr Bill - Many Thanks 🙏🏻
Hey Bill, depending on what traction tyres are made of I'd be aware of using contact cleaner on them. I work in the automotive industry and we have issues with contact cleaner and seals in electrical harnesses as it expands them so much you reconnect the connector. I may make traction tyres come loose! We just use IPA to clean the seals.
This is a good explanation how to service your rolling stock. A extra good tip is to do this on a regular annual base, when you've not used the loco for several years, or you buy a second hand one. Old oils and greases can solidify over time, causing damage, and with this care you model will have a longer life span and saves you lot of troubles on you layout. Well made video 👍
I have the same model but without the smoke unit and it has none of the front-heaviness you showed, so that might be all that's needed to cure it. The long shot down to the viaduct with the trains passing is absolutely superb, by the way
Very odd that the front bogie doesn't have some sort of light spring to hold up the front weight of the locomotive. Anyway, great little service and another happy camper because of your expertise.
I have one of these locos and currently runs well however useful to know what goes on inside, just in case! Think Hornby locos from this era are better and more solid than many give them credit for…
@@johnstephens649 you know why the locomotive runs well thats was because they where still built in uk not like now hornby on money saving transferred all building of them to china
Hello. I've haven't seen your yellow sponge holder for a while. When I first saw it I thought it was an excellent idea and bought a cheap one to use when I work on my Loco's. Do you still use yours?
Hi bill on my county of beford locomotive it has smoke genarator that you put oil in threw the chimmney with litte stringe .perhaps its the smoke generator thats going bad and making the poor running

hi Bill, great video as usual, looks like a made in Margate loco which explains why it is in good nick.keep up the good work.
Another excellent video bill, I am just fascinated by the way you repair any locomotives that comes into your hands

Looks lovely running on your railway. A visitor from the South-West on a Scottish Excursion Special.
Recently restored the same model. I always think that this one looks better than the railroad one

Great video bill 👍
Hornby made four 4-4-0 locomotives like this that were fitted with a smoke unit, LMS, GWR, LNER and SR. I had the LMS one!
Great video Bill

Yes it still gets used. It really depends on what I'm doing and to what loco.
Blue capacitor thing on motor tell tail sign of zero 1; later chips came with the said capacitor.
I thought all Hornby loco's came with a capacitor. Nothing to do with Zero 1 ?
One of the biggest things I hate are the oil based smoke units. They're just awful
Not the best to keep breathing in either.

It was also a tad noisy when it was running
