“Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War Many people think that because it is a game you can go to a tournament with a random cool list and should have a chance to win, but as a wargame it requires good strategies. I like that you emphasize the need to study yours and your opponent's rules as part of being a good player. Great video IMO.
Hey Brady, love the content as usual, but have you ever considered going over the rules of individual armies/units and explaining how they work competitively? I would love to hear your analysis of the IG or one of the Eldar factions (or even one of the non-competitive ones like SM).
Another great video @AlmostProGaming I really look forward to your content everyday xD I love it when my phone pings with one of your videos being released ^^
Playing my first Tournament on the 10th, 1.2k Points and with the chapter approved coming out , Admech gets a lot of points dropped ^^ I've actually worked out a pretty good list for admech
Nice! and Good luck! Try not to expect too much of yourself for your first tournament. Just try to remember what you've learned and try your best. When I went to my first tournament I told myself I'd be happy with 1 win so I wouldn't stress myself out. I won my first game pretty easily and was very happy with myself, and because I had already met my goal I was able to play out the rest of the tournament without any extra stress on me. This is one of the reasons I was able to keep a clear head and focus that allowed me to go undefeated and win the tournament. So just try to concentrate as much as possible, and good luck!
Thanks man ^^ I'll go over my codex tonnes these next two weeks, need to make sure I don't forget important stratagems like infoskull slave that lets me over-watch reinforcements and the one that lets me use the top stat line of my crawlers.
Another one: Know your army's weaknesses. If you know where your army is vulnerable, you can take steps to mitigate those vulnerabilities. I mean... for example, if you play a slow, but durable, Death Guard army you know speed is your weakness. Bring units to counter fast enemy units, or deploy in such a way as to minimise that weakness. Or if you know your army is a glass cannon - lots of damage but fragile, like Eldar or Dark Eldar - learn to use cover saves and terrain as effectively as possible to nullify your fragility.
genuinely speaking, I thought quoting yourself was hilarious. It is true tho. Currently Im not working on comp list cause e'rebody around me is casual... AND I'm one of the 2 out of six of us that understand the rules. I honestly feel like I'm getting burnt on actual games. meh. irrelevant venting.
Re listbuilding: Which figures should I get next for my Space Marines (Ultramarines) and Tau? For Space Marines, I have 3x Tac Squad (5 -man), 1x Captain, 1x Razorback, 1x Venerable Dreadnought.
For Tau, I have 1x Ghostkeel, 2x Fire Warriors (10-man), 1x Commander, 2x Crisis Suits (I can use the Commander and Crisis Suits as 3 Commanders or a team of 3 Crisis Suits with the Commander as a Shas'vre), a couple gun drones, and 1x Stealth Suit team
Devastators, dreadnaughts are always a nice choice, and guilleman if you want to run a gunline for your Ultra Marines. For Tau I would wait until they get their codex or at least when chapter approved comes out in a week or 2 to see if there's any difference because I have a strong feeling the Meta list they use now is going to be different after chapter approved.

These are amazing videos!!! Thank you from a beginner 40k player.
"KEY" actually stands for
Knowledge
Emperor
Yes!
Khorne Eviscerates You.
Very good video. Though one point you missed was good deployment, where units can support each other with optimum synergy. subscribed.
I would think that fits under tactics and strategy and a little bit in game knowledge. And thanks! I'm glad you liked the video.
Also, you might find that sometimes the meta is driven by the amount of cover used by your group.

“Treat studding for 40k like for school” goes on TH-cam watches one video and calls it good enough and some how aces the test
Doesn’t study and aces test
Nr 1: Have a ridiculous amount of cash to spend.

Hey man. Thanks for posting all of these vids. Your advice is practical and helpful. I'm sharing your vids with my local wargaming Facebook group. ✌
"One of the biggest reasons for losing is being cheated, whether intentional or not."
This guy sounds like a salt mine
looking at the IG holiday battleforce, are the command squad and sentinel kits useful competitively?
vankilsing yes.
sentinel is good if you want to scout it in and melta a tank for lulz as command squad its really good for orders and making the most of your infantry
gotta be a armored senty tho as you dont want to die to bolters
Play to have fun and expect to win and lose.
Money for the best and newest models hahaha I'm kidding...
No I'm not.

To hard and too much stress.
Wrong attitude to have. 40k can be really fun and completely stress free, it's all about mindset
