Brother Joe, your attention to detail under the hood is outstanding! This car and your car turned out fantastic! It's lots of work that is not seen very often, and many folks skip. 5 Stars for your hard work!
Nice work Joe, very professional job. This has more paint in the hard to reach areas than it ever had. Certainly will be as beautiful under the hood as outside. Thanks for sharing. 👍🇺🇸👍
Your name should be "Mopar Michaelangelo Joe". That was not the easiest area to prime and paint. I'm glad you are going back to Matador Red. Very nice color.
I’ve got a whole new level of respect for the part you’re doing right there. Pulled the engine out of my truck, and before I put the new one in, I figured I’d clean and paint. It’s an 86. I’ve painted cars before but not like this. This is tedious work !!! 👍👍
@@JustMoparJoe I’ve got my old DeVilbis gun I used in the 70’s, but I’m going to use a 1/2 size gun we used for doors & jams & smaller places. I think It’ll work ok in the engine compartment. There are some things I’m not taking out.some of the wiring, the brake cylinder, rhe steering. So I’ll tie up the wiring. Some is getting rerouted so it’s all together. But the smaller gun should spray the smaller areas good. I’ll just do one section at a time with that black rust inhibitor. Couple of coats will probably be good. Thats for the advice 👍
I kept my old binks under cup guy just for engine compartments because my over cup doesnt like painting upside down. Makes life easier. Really nice work on the engine bay. Looks great. Did you see i dropped the first vid on my roadrunner today. Getting after that car after 40yrs to drive it again.
Oh man, can I feel your pain on that one. Engine compartments, are the biggest pain in the ass…. I’ve done several cars just the way you’re doing this one. Single stage and the jams and under the hood… Basecoat clear on the car. 90% of the time it turns out perfect. Once in a great while I end up with a little color differential. But on a driver car, it isn’t that big a deal. Thanks for sharing. I felt every minute of what you were doing. Lol.
@@JustMoparJoe you and I both know that when you sandblast some thing, it drips sand for the next 17.6 years and it makes painting the real pain in the ass. A little extra effort on the prep side, but definitely better in the long run. I feel your pain, brother. I’ll be doing the engine compartment in stitches this winter… Believe me, I feel your pain.
After owning a couple 3 gen Hemis and the broken exhaust manifold bolts and the dreaded cam shaft failure there is no way I would put a 3rd gen Hemi in that car. But it's going to be a nice car. Good job Joe 👍
Valid point and concern regarding the G3, however I have had big blocks and small blocks, and I love them both! But I have never built or installed a G3 Hemi into an older car so I wanted to try something different, for me anyway. My humble opinion is that we Mopar people need to embrace the newer technology like the G3's to keep our hobby going. The GM guys all rant and rave and highly embrace their LS engines, so I think we need to do the same. It might be a total bust in the end, but I at least needed to try. If it were not going to be a G3, then I would have gone back with a street friendly high revving SB. I've driven plenty of A-bodies with BB's on the street and they were nothing short of terrible for handling.
@@blakesmusclecar True enough. Apparently if you use old exhaust manifolds that have been machined flat they won't warp anymore and the high volume oil pump might solve the cam shaft problem. It's going to be fast. I know my 07 stock Ram 1500 was the fastest truck I ever owned. Peace out.
8:25 Or worse it just cracks after its all painted....ask me how I know haha. And its videos like these of yours that I hate watching sometimes. And its all for GOOD reasons... its because of my own defects of character. Your work ethic and approach to handling these projects make me ashamed of myself. Seeing the quality of work you put out and the determination you have makes me jealous beyond what words can convey. Amazing work my dude! As always thanks for showing the rest of us how things ought to be done! Seriously, I'm not alone in saying that your videos create a new bar of higher standards for other automotive people, especially the content creators. That little patch panel part: I beg of you to try that tip I mentioned last time. Mask it off with a 1/8" margin and spray black flexseal heavy enough it barely gets runs then let it dry and do a couple more coats to build up the thickness. I promise you it will look identical to the factory job thats still there... especially if you paint over it. The texture comes out identical with a little bit of practice.
