MP&ES Unveils the Santa Fe

- On June 9, 2012, in Greenville, SC, MP&ES unveiled a pair of F7 A units painted for the Galveston Railroad Museum in Texas. Hurricane Ike in September 2008 damaged the previous Texas Limited Nos 100 and 200 that had to be scrapped in June 2011. The new "Santa Fe" pair are numbered 315 and 316.
The pair began as Southern Pacific 6443 and Texas & New Orleans 365, but were sold to Wellsville, Addison & Galeton in Pennsylvania in 1969. The units traded several hands over the next decades until they were donated to the Railroad Museum of New England in 2001. The Railroad Museum of New England sold the pair to the Galveston Railroad Museum ten years later.
85 year old design and it still looks beautiful!
No.The Train Is Handsome.
My wife is a 70 year old model and still beautiful.

85 year old❓🤔
Beautiful engines, they were always my favorites since I was a very young child. I used to see these F units in the “New Haven” livery paint scheme. My admiration and respect to all of them! God bless America!
What a pair of beauties, whoever designed the paint job must a genius. it must be the most famous colour scheme in the world on millions of toys and models Greetings from UK
Truly iconic!
🦇Big 10/4!
I saw them two days ago, these have forever been my favorites of all time, so iconic. Only the warbonnett dash 9’s possibly top them for me
And the Dash 8's and the B40-8
@@OfficialRailFanTay_Productions ah man the dash 8 40b is one of my favorites because I hate the 4 axles. It looks so funky but I loved running my model of it. If you wanna see hundreds of them look up Galveston bnsf locomotive storage yard
Idk why but I like the 4 axle, they are just so unique to me.
For me it’s the SD75M’s, these were Santa Fe’s last ever new diesels bought before the 1995 BN-SF merger. And they were a nice closing chapter to one of Americas most iconic railroads. What started with E-Units, ended with modern SD75M’s with Warbonnet paint, both from EMD. Santa Fe will never be forgotten. I was able to cab ride with ATSF 250 (the roads last ever new diesel) when she was only a few weeks old, the crew let me fire her up also, and it was a unforgettable experience.
@@jwrailve3615 The Dash 8 40b is a 4 axle lol.
To this day, this is one of my favorite restorations but, I wish they made the ditch-lights imbedded in the locomotive. Like what NS did with their F-Units.
that would look rather stupid though, the ditch lights on the former NS units were so close to each other, when they flashed...they looked like....a stripper flashing
@@nikerailfanningttm9046 Those recessed lights on those units were awful. The worst thing you can do when having to put something on a locomotive that historically doesn't belong is to try and do it in a modern way.
I come back to this video every year or so, just to watch in awe of such beautiful engines. The design is timeless.
Arguably I spose, the best paint scheme ever to grace a beautiful engine. Warbonnet. Unmistakable.
Ex
And that’s a fact
I just read that an ex-SP 'F7A' (ex-'6378') of circa-1952 vintage still existed (but no longer in the old "BW" SP livery) in a disused run-down state back in 2011, owned by 'preservationists': this engine was one of a couple of engines (supported by 'B' units) used to haul the trains that book-ended the action in the movie "Bad Day At Black Rock" back in 1954: let's hope it's still around in 2019 and can be brought back to life.
Beautiful Train.
😊💐🌷😀
I've loved trains since I was three.... These are absolutely beautiful!
Same broo
Yea me to
Same
I like trains too
SAaame
Great looking machines.
The pair of EMD F-7 engines are absolutely stunning! ❤️❤️❤️
The most iconic locomotive
So many trainsets in the 70s and '80s had this as their locomotive
I didn't like it
I much preferred the Green Burlington Northern or the Yellow and Blue Santa Fe, but that was because of the style
They were GP35 Or GP40, I think
The blue and yellow was a great paint scheme
So was the green BN
I also love the Blue and White D&H, but I don't think they ever sold sets with the D&H
There is a Montana Rail that uses blue, and they are also a goof paint scheme, but I really like the D&H, BN and Santa Fe Yellow and Blue GP series
This has been my favorite train since I was a kid
Beautiful restorations !! There was a time long ago seeing these coming and going in Los Angeles, sure miss 'em.

I had two double AA units in Lionel O gauge when I was younger.
They were absolutely the most beautiful F Units ever.
I'm definitely more of a steam locomotive guy but I will admit that is one beautiful loco
every bulldog nose locomotive are lowkey pretty
Wish they would of have installed the Leslie A200 horn like they used to have. Beautiful engines!!
either one or both units have the horns used on the Texas Limited #100 and #200 F7 units, originally a private train in galveston but was destroyed thanks to Hurricane Ike.
I wasn't ever the biggest fan of F-units but these do look wonderful
F- units were always my favorite diesels
For me they're the quintessential engine. The F series were the best looking. Engines of to day may pack more power but they're the ugly girls at the dance
@@jamesharrison6201 I agree. Nothing else even comes close
Beautiful job. I hope these units have a long and productive new life.
The most beautiful locomotives ever made are EMD F units
JD Mills:. I agree. The sleekness of it makes it look more modern in design than the locomotives that came after it.
Wrong the most beautiful locomotives ever made where steam trains bud
As far as diesel locomotives go I agree
@@wolflordreaper20 I've always had more of a soft spot to Alco PAs.
Nah I think SD70ACE is the coolest looking.
Beautiful classic engine. So many model railroads are blessed with her ... ❤️🙏❤️
Wow Menard's really went all out revealing their first locomotive!
I hope this is a joke
Growing up in Santa Fe country, Wichita Kansas, I'm partial to the warbonnet myself. The only railroad I can remember that had different colors for passenger and freight service.
New pair of F7s look great

Great looking machines. Makes me think of my American Flyer set when I was young ,had a A BA unit set in that scheme.

Nothing beats the look of these old diesel engines. I’m glad I have some in my collection.
I’m a fan of the blue and gold paint scheme as well. The war bonnets get all the love and it’s a beautiful livery but the blue and gold is underrated in my opinion.
This would have been amazing to see in person. Absolutely stunning locos
Jacob Davis .....yep sure do

now you just need a matching B unit! hehe
Ditch Lights look great on these older locos
course I still love the rotating beacon on locos

Awww, what beautiful engines. So happy to see them unkept.
0:24 Only the girl was so excited to see the train.
Santa Fe lives on
Love the Warbonnet schemes on these trains

Wow those look great I'm glad they were not sent to the scrap yard.
I love these! They are my favorite locomotive!!
Same Here Dude I Have A Bunch Of Models Of These at Home!!

Mine too dude! Santa Fe had a good choice for the paint job
@@asirenfan1000t Right?? I can't get enough of those Warbonnets.

I won’t lie the Santa Fe Warbonnet paint scheme is one of my favorites. And I’m a NYC guy
Let’s jump in and find out who asked!

Tivis7 boy you dumb assell 😭😭
Tivis7 fuck you
Its one of mine as well. And I'm a steam fan rather than desiel
Nice restoration work!
Something about this unit seems just surreal
It has ugly ditchlights
I rode from St Louis to where we picked up this engine and rode El Capitan to Los Angeles around 1951. The air conditioning failed as I remember; but a 10 year old on a train cares less.
Please don’t tell me I was the only one who noticed that the back F Unit tore off the tarp on the shed.
that girl got a whole ribbon on her head
Remember the movie Silver Streak? These trains always remind me of it lol
I have a mint condition TYCO silver streak Loco and caboose. The reason it's mint is because when I got the model the motor was dead out of the box so input it in a glass case and it has a place of honor on a shelf in my room
That is a classic movie.

By far the best railroad color scheme ever.
The best color scheme in all of railroad history.
Beautiful machine. Greetings from the UK
That horn sounds amazing

fun fact: the horn is salvaged from the now scrapped Texas Limited f7 units, specifically, #200.
The best looking train ever built also best paint job
Now this, brings a smile to my face

The most attractive locomotives ever built, in my opinion! Smooth and streamlined like a beautiful woman!😁👍
EMD dropping the bulldog cab design is a peak masterpiece that human race can invent
Beautiful locomotives. I have A-B-B-A sets of them in HO and N scale.

That's always been my favorite train.
Great video

Great looking Engine ,well done!!!Thanks for Sharing 😊
Beautiful.
Man I miss the original Santa Fe one’s, for those Who don’t know these engines in the video are Ex Via Rail F7s (later re painted into the Warbonnet paint scheme) used for replacements for two Santa Fe F7s from the Galveston Railroad Museum that were lost in a hurricane several years ago, and even though the new ones aren’t even original it’s still sad to see them slowly rusting after not being used for quite some time
The engines lost in the hurricane were ex SP F Units like these two.
These both served the PA train. Even though they're painted to appear as ATSF F7s, they're not true ATSF F units. They're former Southern Pacific. But they still look epic wearing ATSF warbonnet.
Now that is one of the most beautiful locomotives you can ever see - I Liked & Subscribed 😎👍
Very nice
My favorite diesel engines in my favorite railroad livery. :)

WDM 1 was an imported diesel electric engine that made to India after routes were just started to get diesel locomotive. This class is a dual cab version and is similar to this loco class. WDM 1 is actually built by ALCo.
Beautiful
That is BEAUTY....at it's finest!!!👀👀👀
This is still my go to Diesel. Love the paint colors and design!

wish we had these locos in england, they look fab, !
class 55s arguably the only loco that is closest to the american bulldog nose design

A masterpiece. I have these in Marx 1095 engines from the 1960's. Couldn't afford the real thing.
Sharp as always!
these models are iconic
bulldog cab design are forever a peak masterpiece to be brought by the mankind
Absolutely gorgeous.
Looks fantastic over all
Such engines always seemed to need an unmanned "B" unit to complement the power of the main loco: is such a preserved "A+B" combo. possible today?
The royal gorge route railroad in Canon City colorado uses the f7 a and b units during the off season
@@infiniteflyer2178 Thanks for the feedback: those are great-looking diesels: the styling is as impressive as it was way back in the last century.
@@None-zc5vg I ride that train every year. If you havent been, I would recommend it hands down
@@infiniteflyer2178 I'll never make it: I'm almost ready for the boneyard and "significant" travelling is a no-no, but I can still appreciate the looks of those locos from any distance.

Why did you put those citation marks?

they look like what they would have looked like when the F7's came out for the Santa Fe
XD same
i seen a SD40-2 before
Aimie Postma except they have ditchlights, other than that they look great
Not even close. Wrong pilot, the ditch lights, the HEP connectors, the side foot boards, the side rain guards, the marker lights, the horn and the horn location are just a few of the things that are totally wrong for this being a Santa Fe unit. The paint job is great, just too bad they didn't fix the rest.
