    I traded my ecoboost for a GT and have been very happy with it. That being said, the GT is a thirsty beast. And yes, you never hear the end of "Its not a V8" when you buy an ecoboost.

  • @TheWombat2012

    In Australia that’s similar to the base model we get in the Mustang range...same wheels, lip spoiler, etc, active exhaust, and everything else, including the full digital dash and large touch screen. It has a high level of equipment compared to what I’ve seen in the USA. We just bought a new 2.3 High Performance six speed manual. It’s fantastic.

  • @schlix101
    @schlix101 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    It, feeling smaller and more nimble than the V8, actually makes perfect sense. It has considerably less weight under the hood, on the front suspension and tires, hence is likely to turn in sharper and handle a bit more lively in general, making it feel smaller than it is, but can also make the ride a bit more choppy than the V8. Thanks for pointing that out actually. Not many Journalists, from videos I have seen, have actually noted or said much about this characteristic of the EcoBoost Stang.

    Loved the XR4ti. I had one brand new from 1985 to 1988. At the time it was extremely fast compared to most other options in the market. Especially for the price they sold for. Handling was fantastic, it was a very nimble car and a blast to drive in the mountains.

    I currently own an S197 GT convertible but I rented a new ecoboost convertible last week, and I was really impressed with it. It would make a great daily driver. Sierra was a family/executive saloon (in European standards) that was upgraded by Cosworth, because Ford needed a rally/BTCC car. Plus it was meant to be a competition car platform from the very beginning, hence the great weight distribution ratio - you only need to add more power. There actually was a smaller coupe equivalent of a Mustang in Europe called Capri. It was meant to be a smaller Mustang, they even developed a V4 (1.7l) engine for it. 2.3t would suit such a chassis like a charm! But unfortunately we live in a sh**ty SUV/crossover era, Ford is even pulling the plug for the whole Mondeo/Fusion project. Giving us rubbish crossovers instead, like Puma for instance.
      Cheers!
      Humble Sierra owner :)

  • @liquidleopard4495
    @liquidleopard4495 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    9:47 It makes sense, in that the 4-cylinder engine saves nearly 200lbs off the front wheels. And I'm pretty sure it comes with the same tread width as the front tires on a Mustang GT. So, compared to a GT, this car is much lighter on the contact patches that steer.
    And the whole rest of the suspension probably contributes. :)

    I had a fully loaded 1st year 2015 Ecoboost premium with the performance package and cobb tune/intercooler, and ford racing CAI and it was a blast to drive. Nobody could believe it was a 4-cyl turbo. I loved it, until some dumb **** not paying attention ran red light and totaled it. I've often thought about replacing it, and the HPP with magnaride would be an obvious choice. The premium, with the active gauge cluster, and B&O Sound System is quite luxurious inside and the magnaride not only improves performance, but actually makes it ride smoother as well. Even at $46K, it's still a lot of bang for the buck.

    Sarah you hit on a key point to the advantage of the 2.3L EcoBoost. It is a more fun car to drive fast due to the better handling because of less engine weight up front. I would buy it over the V8 🤔 or would I??😏

  • @jake51515
    @jake51515 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you think about it Sarah, this in a way is fords premimum engine choice. Yes the v8 is cream of the crop, but fully speced this thing is a little more than a GT and its def more than a standard ecoboost. But if you also think about it, this car is for a very specific crowd, the tuners crowd. Yes the ecoboost can be tuned as is, but this is more tuner friendly and has all the commodities that an enthusiast will love, like the higher reving for full power. The standard ecoboost I feel ford is selling to the average buyer who just wants the beauty of the mustang in an economical package, whereas this car is more designed for the ST or tuner folks and the v8 of course is reaching out to the muscle head guys. Personally, I think ford has a good idea with this one!

    Ford could resurrect the Falcon with this 2.3, and call it the Sprint. Heck I think Mustangs were originally built from Falcon chassis.

    • @ChasingDifferentAdventures
      @ChasingDifferentAdventures 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ford had canceled using the Falcon name last year with a 5.0
      4 door sedan, I would have preferred they have this name on the Mach E. Mustang should only have 2 doors always has in production. Millennials dethroned all past, present, and future Mustang's from the Muscle car category shared with the Challenger and Camaro.
      I have no problem with them using it chassis, or an all electric powered vehicle.
      4 door variant removed the Mustang from Muscle car Status.

      Here in Australia they ran the 2.0 Eco boost in the Aussie FG Falcons from 2009 to the FGX which finished production in 2017. Given the Falcon here was a large sedan the 4 banger went very well in a car designed to take a six & V8.

      Yes in the 60's The 64 1/2 Mustang's were from the 1962 Falcon chassis. Incidentally, they should have called the Mach E the Falcon E, and not the Mustang or Mach E.

    @chrisoh6627 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yes you make a great point about the Sierra, a modern north/south facing engine with AWD in a modern compact coupe would smash the market. Plus here in Australia it's illegal for provisional drivers (17-24yr olds) to drive turbo/v8/high performance cars (most light cars with over 220kw) So it's going to be a giant flop, that being said the young ones buying 86s etc couldn't get it anyway. Plus the GT is nearly 80k here and the Ecoboost is nearly 70k......

    Hi Sarah, always a pleasure to see you, and glad you are honest with the critiques you have on Ford Mustang's. Now the breaks are not plaited or painted for a reason. The paint acts as a blanket parenting the calipers from staying and generating heat to the rotors or it's surrounding areas. Hot calipers equals hot break pad transferring heat to the rotors.
    GT500 2020 has front active panels below headlights, which open during hard breaking in an angle for more down force up front. As well as allow air thru channels to the front and rear breaking systems to cool them. Ford has a patent on these. Once again always a delight to see a beautiful girl who drive fast as well as work on cars. That makes you the sexiest girl on TH-cam been watching since Mr.2 last year. Hopefully, you achieve all of your goals and friends loving friendships

    Liftback would be cool, but I bet they didn't solely for the crash rigidity.
    Looks like they could do with a stripper variant, delete option on the radio, back seat, carpets, knickers,.. swap to a lighter flywheel, sequential shift, vinyl mats and 4.0 Barra.
    Heck, looking at all that engine bay space, it looks like the design may have been aimed at using the Barra from the get go.

    I drove the convertible ecoboost as a rental recently. Premium version without the high performance pack. It has a surprising amount of power for such a small engine. I only had two gripes: 1) steering is way too heavy in "comfort" mode; and 2) the car needs a front proximity warning or camera. It's all too easy to f*** up the front splitter when parking, as I found out to my chagrin.

    You hit this review bang on, my wife has the upscale version of this car and it's pretty awesome. The car is great for a cheap car.

    I've been a fan of the Mustang ever since I was a kid. I never owned one (I had a 1971 Cutlass), but I've rented many over the years. But I agree with that I would need the V8. Ford shouldn't have an "economy" Mustang. They need to make this a different car with a slightly different body style. Maybe call it a "Colt" or something.

      I have had Mustangs with hatchbacks. Love them but they rattle. 1976. 1979. 1986. 1989
      All hatchbacks
      2005. 2008. 2014. Current stable.
      Get yourself a Mustang! They are fun!

      I had 69 Chevelle. 70 Chevelle. And a 72 Monte Carlo too. Loved Cutlass 442 but never hot one.

    For us that own them, the phase was coined as " all the power all the time". The engine is in another Ford. The GT. Of course it's mid engine and you can't buy one. But the roots are there. I get 34 mpg on the highway.

    Its a modern Mustang SVO and a fun car to drive! When I first drove one, it reminded me of my 93 240sx with the SR20 in it. I almost bought a Ecoboost Mustang a few years ago, instead bought a IS300. Love your videos! Keep it up!

    I have a 2011 3.7 liter and I agree the fastback should be a liftback. The trunk is ridiculously small. I also like the orange.

    I feel the same about fastback w/trunk issue... and I feel it over older model Mustangs, and the A-body based Barracuda. And the Space Duster and Maverick, as well.

    My HPP EcoBoost plaque chassis number is L0009. I think I must of gotten the car that you've just reviewed in your video there.

      don't the hpp have magna-ride? or maybe it was still a separate option

    • @chivongyang5073
      @chivongyang5073 ปีที่แล้ว

      @arni0202 there's 2 kind of HPP options. One has Magna Ride and the other one has just the performance package with no Magna Ride. The model with the Handling Package will also come with a better looking set of wheels as well.

    I have the 2020 2.3L hpp premium. And I get mad love from 5.0 owners because this car is the whole package. And most of this 5.0 out here are base models. 60k for a 5.0 prenium with this hip has. Except engine. usually the people saying why didn't u buy a v8. Is the people that don't have a stang drive a truck or Honda.
