Hi AK, thank you for always talking to yourself loudly. Care to speak your thoughts about buying stocks via traditional brokers like Vickers (higher txn cost but owning shares in CDP) vs the newer low cost brokers (like Moomoo, tiger etc)? In the longer term, higher cost of investing would affect overall returns, especially if I'm keen on doing regular DCA into SG markets. Every penny saved is a penny earned right?

Unless we trade frequently and in smallish sums, brokerage fees should not matter much. 🙊

AK good to hear from u almost daily. Have been listening to u all this while and digesting. Follow u for about a year and have pick up some good clues of your investing. Surprisingly I was shocked that from Feb 2023 to May 2024 I invested and traded all 3 local bank stocks with average $200k and gained realised profit of $50k. Thanks

If one keeps his/her expenses in check and be clear about WANTS vs NEEDS, while increasing income to invest wisely, hitting $1M portfolio at 50 or earlier is do-able. On the contrary, if a typical PMET earner wants to chase after condo, BM/Merz, luxury holidays or to show off, there won't be much left to invest and the power of compounding at young is lost. Whether YOLO or FIRE, to each his own :)

good sharing. tho 1 mil today is not the same purchasing power 20 years down the road. from 1.2m today @ 3% inflation it becomes 2.7-2.8m. but there is something about hitting 1m as a number that I reckon will make us feel more confident and definitely compounding at larger numbers makes it easier to grow the next mil. i hope your message gets out to ppl who let lifestyle creep take over their financial independence and well being.

Today, $1M can buy a shoebox apartment of 500 sqfeet, or a 4RM HDB at "atas" location or 2 x BMW 740i to drive 10years.. No wonder Singaporeans feel so rich, omg...

At 60 yrs old, I wouldn't want to take on too much risk. 5 more years till CPF pays a monthly income. $500k invested in t bills will get me almost $20k a year. You might be interested in this blog:
