Thanks for sharing AK! Having a buffer is such a peace of mind
I think so too. 💯😊
Thanks for sharing your numbers. Is really an inspiring yardstick.😊
That is the thing AK is good for. Glad to inspire. 😊
Thank you for sharing. It's helpful & informative.
Thanks for letting me know. I am glad. 😊
Thank you for your insights, AK. Your videos have taught me so much.
Thanks for letting me know. I am glad. 😊
Thanks, AK. I think your open sharing will indeed inspire many..
If this really inspires many people, I am happy. 😊
Thanks ak for sharing
👋👋
Very inspiring for folks younger than u, in mid 30s. Will follow idea of warchest, emergency funds, float and cpf as bond fund.
I am glad you have found it inspiring. 😊

🤣🤣🤣
as you follower for years, the feeling of hearing this post is like SG government disclosing part of its reserve information 😅. Thanks AK for sharing!
just curious though, will you ever deploy your substantial amount of emergency fund if market really in a depressing mode and you want more money to buy stocks?
This is personal reserve which is similar to national reserve. 🤣
I have been tempted to use my emergency funds before to invest with back when it was smaller. Truth. But I held back. 😅
In a couple of years from now when I have access to my cpf savings, things might change. 🤔
Thanks AK for talking to yourself about your cash holding 😀
👌😊
Thank you for sharing. I am upgrading my war chest yearly hope for to catch opportunities . Living simple and save more money.

Thanks AK for all your videos. I listened to all of them and they provide useful food for thoughts. Just out of curiousity. when you mentioned that your passive income is around 200K a year does that include the interests you get from FD/T bills interest or the 200k is only from stock dividends. Appreciate a confirmation from you so that I can figure out my own position on passive income. Thank you !
Includes income from T-bills bought using cash but not CPF. Does not include interest income from savings and fixed deposits. Does not include interest paid on CPF savings.😇

@@A.Singaporean.Stocks.Investor. Thank you so much AK. Really appreciate your advice. BTW, just some feedback. I hope that ramble a little longer in your podcasts. The less than 10=min sessions are great but I think a 15 to 20min session would provide even more food for thoughts. Thank you once again for all the very useful information that you are sharing with your audience !
@@hhspore Glad you like the video.😊 I discovered that average watch time for this video is 8 minutes. Happens consistently with all my longer videos. 😅
@@A.Singaporean.Stocks.Investor. It sounds like you only consider money that you earned from your "investments" aka Tbills and stocks as your "passive income". Personally, I consider annuity income as " passive income" too as end of the day, I can also collect the principal sum after collecting the annuity payout for say 20 years (Tokio Marine plan). just sharing my views ;=)
In my view once we are at (or near) 55, your available CPF funds can be used for both the emergency fund and the bond component of your portfolio. There is no need to have a separate bond compenent AND emergency fund in my view. Why? Well because emergency funds are only used in that rare case of - an emergency! So OK, in the rare chance you need to draw on them, it means the bond component of your portfolio reduces, but it is an emergency afterall, and once past the emergency, with time, the bond component of your portfolio can be restored.
👌👌👌
@ak - what’s your thoughts on IREITS Global?
I have made videos on this in recent months. You might want to watch them. 🙊
AK - beside quite, t bill and bond - do you invest in real estate as your asset portfolio?
REITs. 😷
Smart choice which is part of your annua equity income.
Singapore property has lousy income yield. Only hoping for capital gain.

I've always thought about this. As im still single and doesnt have a house yet (cant buy yet) i might need some additional emergency fund for marriage and housing just in case. i was targeting to have 200k as emergency funds for those. But nvr knew if it will be enough.
I am super spendthrift i would say since im still staying with my parents. If i dont invest at all i would save >75% of my take home salary mthly. So i thought it was a waste and bought life insurance and savings plan (16% of take home) so that i can invest in stocks without worry. Currently investing heavily in stocks via dca (40% of take home) since im abit late for the game. nt sure if it was a right choice due to not knowing how much emergency fund i would actually need
Thrifty, not spendthrift.
I blogged about how much emergency fund makes sense to me. The link is in the description box. You might want to have a look. 😊
AK, just curious. Why you don't invest/buy stocks in US eventhough you have money?
No need to. 🤭
Good Morning Sir, can you do a video on the pro and con of "LION-OCBC SECURITIES APAC FINANCIALS DIVIDEND PLUS ETF" which give at least 5% dividend yield. Thanks
I looked at that before and I thought I might as well continue to invest in the local banks. More rewarding. 🤭
@@A.Singaporean.Stocks.Investor. Thank you Sir. I have the same thought but want to seek your advice. It won't be wrong by follow your advice!
@@chua6142 No advice given.😅 Talking to myself. 🙊 But ETF fees and how I don't have a say as to which banks I want my money in? 💩
From your cash holding, you are also inferring the market is overbought at this moment. A bit too much optimism right now. :)
Oops 🙊

why do you need 10,416 a month for 24 mths as emergency fund? (thats pretty high expenses no?) - Thinks 250k sgd can last 4 years.
Answer is in the video (and blog post.) 🤭
AK is v filial. He has incorporated his parents’ retirement money as part of his emergency cash

@@A.Singaporean.Stocks.Investor. Alamak... should have heed your advice 10 years ago.. "Rice cook already", too late liao... 😁
No kids is much easier in life to accumulate wealth
Most of my savings also in FD and UOB1 accounts
Yes peace of mind to me is the NUMBER 1 thing I seek in life also !
$500k is about it as there is a recommendation to keep 5yrs of expenses.
Have you explored cash management accounts? Could you share why and why not? Thanks in advance, AK
Just to clarify 5yrs is for those without a regular employment income
Eh. I think you misheard or misunderstood. You might want to run the video again or read the blog post. Link in the description box. 😊
500k is excluding the 1M55 in CPF as pointed out in another comment. Hv you considered parking $$ in Roboadvisors cash management accounts?
@@rpj341 Nope. Quite happy with the current arrangement. 😊
@@A.Singaporean.Stocks.Investor. AK talk to himself will suffice, no need robo
I just lost 700k cash. So painful.
OMG! That's terrible! 😱
Why didn’t you put your emergency fund in SSB instead of FD? At least you get pro-rated interest when you need to withdraw.
SSBs are used as replacements for VCs to CPF. I blogged about this before. 😊
singaporeanstocksinvestor.blogspot.com/2022/10/cpf-or-singapore-savings-bond-it-is-no.html?m=1
There is also the fact that when we redeem SSBs, we don't get the money immediately.
