Hi AK, your chickens and eggs story helps how to have a good financially-sound retirement in a nutshell. Very well said!

I think it is important to have a transitional period or a trial period before actual retirement. Observe your spending patterns and evaluate your lifestyle before really taking the leap. Some people jump straight from full employment to Early retirement overnight, which makes it difficult to adjust.

If we are born lazy like AK, no need transitional period. Not working = bliss 💯. 🐷 Oops... 🙊

Summary: Strategy to (still) build wealth whilst retired
    1. Build a chicken farm. Have many chickens (make sure good quality ones)
    2. Do not eat all the eggs. Sell some of them.
    3. Sell some of the chickens too.
    4. Use those monies from sale of eggs & chickens to buy more chickens.
    5. Note to factor in chickens that may fall sick or die.

Lean fire is heavily dependent on a frugal lifestyle for sure.
I think any kind of FIRE requires a very savvy individual as well.
Retirement and preparing for retirement, I feel, requires clear priorities and resource management.
As is life, you figure out resource management. Then you die.

Insightful video as usual. I get that it takes heaps of discipline to reach your current state. Which sets me thinking (actually i started thinking abt this after watching your video earlieer in the year). So the question, do you ever think back and ponder on the lost opportunities, experiences. Maybe a little pointless to regret it now, but for those who are in their twenties ....these are the choices that they must make........

Hindsight is always perfect. I could have liquidated all my investments during the pandemic and invested all the money in DBS. 😅 Like you said. Pointless to look back and regret. 👋

I don’t have any dividends incomes yet but have 2 paid up properties for income only. 3rd property half paid. CPF can reach a million and nothing else. Plan for CPF life is ERS 400k. Zero dividends 😢.

AK, what you think of amassing SGD$500k savings + fully paid 4 room HDB and retiring in JB Malaysia? The rental income for a 4 room HDB in SG would generate a monthly income of about $3k p/m or RM 10.5k and the SGD 500k could yield a 3% p.a. return or RM1,250 a month taking one's monthly income of RM11,750 a month. What you think of retiring in JB with a monthly income of RM11,750 p/m for husband and wife with no kids?

      I like Singapore more. 😊
Of course, some like Malaysia more.
      No right or wrong. 🍵
I am not familiar with living conditions and cost in Johor.
      😷 So, I shan't comment. 🙊

No guarantee of renting out your flat. There might be periods when it is vacant without tenants.

You may need to think of where to stay in Sg for the occasional few days per month. But I think this is a viable way to retire in JB.
