Great video! A feeding trick I have is when I ran my fish room (~63+ tanks), I had a mini cart with all the fish foods put into deli cups. I would walk to each tank with the cart, and spoon in whichever food I needed to that day. When the deli cup would empty I would refill it with food from the original container. Loved the outtakes!
Love, Love, Love the t-shirt you are wearing. Another idea is to refrigerate the foods. Of course I’m like you and have so much food plus I make my own and I try to refrigerate/freeze all foods that may have moisture to them. If I refrigerated all my foods I would need a refrigerator just for fish. Lol. Another great youtube Michael. 😊
Love this youtube. I also switch up foods. Never feed the same foods day after day. I know I wouldn’t want to eat the same thing everyday. Plus I make foods. The only bad thing about making your own foods is it clouds the water. So I only feed homemade foods prior to doing a wc. I haven’t tried green beans yet only because I put them in foods I make along with peas and spinach. I have blanched yellow squash and zucchini. Remove the seeds after blanching so it doesn’t make a mess in the tank. Plecos, guppies, shrimp, angels and discus munch on it. Thanks Michael for another informative youtube😊
I thaw my frozen brine shrimp in a bit of tank water 1st, then drain it through a very fine net before feeding. This way I'm not adding any of the salt water it is hatched/frozen in back into my tanks. That's some salty, nasty water. Great video and btw....Taco was video bombing you almost the entire video. lol Love that fish.
@@MichaelsFishRoom started watching Thomas from Big Als when I came back into the hobby, but I truly enjoy and appreciate all your videos. Miss Micheals eats but I imagine one channel plus a fish room plus family obligations plus full time job must be insane!!! Stay healthy, stay safe and please continue making videos:)
Nice video. I personally have never seen any difference using budget Tetra, Omega One and Aqueon versus higher end foods. I do also feed some frozen food, Repashy, bug bites, green beans and baby brine. Just my two cents. Nothing wrong with what you're doing. Stay healthy and happy. Cheers
Love it, great video, I feed my live brine shrimp every day, the adults and babies love it, I feed extreme flake every other day, French cut beans for my plecos and live bloodworms for my corydoras.
I only have 1 bristle nose pleco but he loves Sera wafers with wood. I also feed the Hikari sinking wafers which my shrimp also seem to enjoy. My shrimp pretty much eat whatever but at least once a week I make sure to put in a Shrimp King complete pellet, or GlasGarten ShrimpFit. My main food for my topicals (mostly tetra and rasboras) is Omega One. I treat with Fluval Bug Bites which seems to send them into an absolute feeding frenzy! I also treat with a variety of freeze dried blood worm, brine shrimp and tubifex. I'm not sure if this is completely necessary but I take a small deli cup full of tank water and presoak my freeze dried stuff before feeding it. My concern is that I don't want the freeze dried stuff to swell up in the poor fishes belly. Guppy question for you. I've read that they need calcium, especially when they're producing lots of fry. Do you do anything to add calcium to your water? Because of my shrimp I save my egg shells every time I cook myself some eggs. I boil the shells to kill any bad stuff, then dry them out and crush them into powder which I add a pinch of to my tanks during water changes. I've also used cuttlebone from the bird section of the pet store.
as a Northfin dealer I have brought this question up with them and have been told they are working on selling it in smaller containers . That's all they have told me .
@@kjeaquatics To bad you could not take the container and place flakes in plastic bags and sell them. Might make you some money for those who cannot buy the big container. Mike can also do that if the company lets you both do it.
Awesome advice Sir Do you recommend using repashy fish foods for guppies? I didn't see you mentioned it. How often would you recommend feeding spawn n grow repashy or any of the other ingredients for guppies and fry?
What do you class as high protein? I feed vitalis mini grazer i think its 31% protien and a pinch of bug bites. Just started a guppy breeding project, just for fun nothing serious lol
Try taking a finished small fish food container and place the large flake in it, about a 1/4 full. Shake the daylights out of it and you have your small fish food instead of using your fingers. Works for me.
Michael, please help!! I have a pair of Apistogramas and for the past week my male hasn't been able to close his mouth..I treated him with Maracyn for the past week. I noticed 2 days ago that he has been flashing a lot rubbing his mouth so now I'm treating with ichx for the past 2 days. Now this morning he looks like he has Dropsy with swollen abdomen😭 Do you have any advice? Thanks Michael!!
Sorry for the late reply and your loss. Next time, email me for a faster response. Unfortunately I don't think there is anything I could have done though.
I've only feed it a few times an lost some fish very soon after, so I don't feed it anymore. I do not know if that is the reason and it was like 10 years ago, but I don't have any other experience.,
Green beans - plecos - leftovers - DOES NOT COMPUTE Yet another batch of eggs just hatched - 300 calicos now??? I feed shrimp pellets and kelp wafers too. I do twice the water changes on that tank. (40b) I used to complain how much I spent on fish food; then my wife said, “do you know how much it cost to feed you?” Fish are cheap. No snacks - I was washing dishes while I watched.
