I also defrost them in tank water quite frequently as it allows me to get more worms distributed around the tank evenly for bottom feeders and those that aren’t as aggressive as the ones attacking the floating frozen cubes.

I could be wrong but I’ve found these frozen foods, from a respectable source, are awesome and help with getting the breeding so to speak begin. Or if you have a fry tank to feed. Although I’m a believer in making fresh hatch brine shrimp for my fry.
A person just has to be careful on the source who they buy from otherwise you can have other problems. It’s not an everyday feeding which I totally agree with. I wouldn’t say it’s a treat as much as I would say it’s a periodically feeding to help breeding as well as give the fish something different than flakes or pellets.
You mentioned in another TH-cam about switching up foods. I so agree. This is one way of switching up foods. Again Michael, excellent information.

I buy frozen blood worms and brine shrimp.. San Francisco Bay (Sally's) and Hikari brands. Just got 16 pounds...8 of each! Never had an issue with the products. I thaw them unless I'm in a hurry...then I toss in a chunk and run!
By the way ...I feed them to all sorts of fish without issue. My plecos LOVE BLOOD WORMS! Never had a problem with any plecos eating them, though I see guys on TH-cam say not to feed them to L134 for example. My 134s adore them!
Great video. All good and accurate info in my opinion.

They also get Xtreme Krill & Spirillina and Bug Bites and sometimes Vibra Bites. On occasion I'll get a wild hair and make repashy. I tried to feed a variety. Taco is getting bigger. :-) I do a good blooper. Happy holidays.

One of my new angels won't eat. Day 4. Help? Tried frozen bloodworms on day 2 and frozen mysis yesterday. LFS is out of live brine. Insuforia culture empty. Still need a week or two. I've tried maybe 5 staple foods. I'm thinking of throwing in a live baby dubia.
He sucks in a lot of air from the surface. It looks like he's drinking. Occasionally he will exhale a single bubble after.
His old tank was in the throes of OTS. Pretty acidic, 0 KH, nitrate and GH off the chart. New tank ph neutral, 75 gh, low Kh, low nitrate, same temperature.
He's part of a bonded pair which has hatched babies. I feel like I'm seeing breeding tubes. Female eats literally anything. He's protecting her some, and watches the food, and swims away from it. Not hiding much. Heavily planted, lots of swim space too. 120 gallon with 5 yoyos, 12 pentazonas(get some for your shy tank, cheap pretty schooling predatory peaceful and fast in a big enough tank), some platies, half a dozen Otos, and a poor single male ram.
I've had some problems with bloat in this tank, even had a weaker platy pinecone. But that was months ago before I started "making" water. Water not otherwise treated. No chemicals, no sodium. Just plant food, mostly potassium, calcium, and magnesium sulfates as well as chelated iron,

I thaw out raw regular shrimp, mince it up really fine like a gel then throw it in my tanks. My fish go crazy for it! Pound for pound it's a way cheaper food source with comparable protein to brine shrimp. But it is higher in cholesterol too. So I only feed it 2-3 times a week, while adding vegetation like green beans or seaweed. (Thaw in cold water only) Even luke warm water after a few minutes starts to kind of cook it, which makes it a tougher texture and harder for fry to eat.
If it doesn't work out well for you, take the rest of the unminced shrimp, throw it in a frying pan with sweet chilli suace and butter, fry it to a golden root beer color and apply to steamed jazmine rice with a side of steamed and lightly salted broccoli...
    😆 nom nom nom!
I doubt it will come to this though. I've yet to find a fish that doesnt like it.
    😎

Thawing using tank water is really not a good idea. Freezing process breaks down the meat material that holds the nutrition of the food source, pretty much it's in the way ice crystals form in the food. That's why the process of thawing plays a big role in holding the nutritional value. The best way to thaw is in a fridge for a 2-3 days. Many nutrients are water soluble and lost when thawing using water, hot water being worse. Warming or thawing at room temperature is not a good idea either as it gives proper growing conditions for microbacteria that results in the parasitic loss of nutritional value and exposes your fish to those.
