Right, the tambourine player. Not actually a member of the band, but also a friend (as with the sax player), he is however in a different band called Black Crown Initiative which is also worth checking out.

Yeah, sad that BCI is likely done with most of the members leaving in early august - legit my favorite band of all time.
Invitation or Belie the Machine would be excellent tracks to start with for anyone interested.

Update on the tambourine player Andy Thomas, he is now a full member of Rivers of Nihil replacing Johnny T who departed the band several months ago. So much talent in one band....wow!

I would highly recommend you listen to " a subtle change ( including the Forest of Transition and dissatisfaction dance) its from the same Album that won Album of the Year 2018

      @xenolite79 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah i agree, at first my favorite songs were owls and silent life, but subtle change is an epic masterpiece and probably the best song on the album, although Hollow is becoming one of my favorite as well.

Subtle change is my favorite on the album but it's a masterpiece from beginning to end.

This entire album is a journey. One song flows into another type of thing.

The sax player is not an official member, but he's a friend of the band who has consistently laid down tracks for their songs since their first album. To play sustained notes on that alto, slowly walking up the scale, was definitely not common especially considering genre. The 70s theme is a thing they did for this song. The next song I would go with is The Place From Which No Sound Escapes.

Would recommend "The Void from Which No Sound Escapes" by Rivers Of Nihil 🤘🏼

This would be considered prog death. They tend to be a lot heavier than this.

Their new album, The Work, is fantastic. Going to see them live soon, can't wait!

Love this band. Not only because they can rock out, but they scratch my itch for weirdness. I mean they're great musicians across the board but you're right, cowbell always beats tambourine in musical rock paper scissors. Great reaction!

Like surtrgio said, please do subtle change (including the forest of transition and dissatisfaction dance), imo where owls know my name isn't even close to that level. If you want a really harsh brutal song, I'd recommend "more?" off their newest album.

This whole album is amazing but my favorite song is called the void from which no sound escapes from their newest album.

Fun fact - the sax man sold me merch on their last UK/EU tour (well, it was then)... he's massive and also a big friend of the band!

I was read to mention Church of the Cosmic Skull right before you said it. Being 48, I get into various different genres of metal. If you hadn't heard of Hour of 13, you should check them out, they're one of the few real good American Doom Metal bands.

It is the last song on the album.. that is why the fadeout is sooo long

This video is kind of a one off for them. The others ive seen are not as playful i guess would be a good word. I love their current album, "The Work" I could listen to it from start to finish. You should react to "The Void From Which No Sound Escapes"

This music video is such a violent tone shift from the rest of the album and it's even more brilliant for that. The album is all gloomy and harsh and then this song and video are just vibing off in the corner.

Incredible band dude. Really worth a full listen. The Silent Life and The Void From Which No Sound Escapes are both excellent follow ups to this. Not really a Metalcore band. Tech Death or Death Metal.

    How about more saxophone‽
I would really recommend that you react to the song “Tutu 2022” by Etienne Pelosoff. True Black Metal Jazz.

I'm surprised this is the first appearance on your channel. Surprised nobody requested them until now.
This band is extremely underrated. Although the sax isn't a big part of the band, it's what sets them apart from alike bands.
The Silent Life is their next song you MUST react too.😉

The initial screen is more Commodore 64 than VHS - but the later filter i very VHS though.
Musically it reminds me of early In Flames.

Awesome reaction video. I am just as amazed by the video. Not only for ALLLLLL the things going on but also for the fact they have Jared Leto, Lemmy Killmister and Alasdair Beckett-King all in the same band.

I'm fairly certain it's pronounced like "Nile". Nihil is the root word of nihilism and is Latin for nothing.

Not my cup of tea, not into scream singing. Like the visuals though.
