My friend died a few days after we saw you guys. Will always remember it as a transformative experience bringing us closer together.
Thats rough man. Stay strong
Sorry for your loss brother
May owls know their name
so sorry for your loss. what a great memory to have to seeing this band live with him/her!
@@aalioporkkana1978 Somehow can't take this seriously after I noticed your name.
So we can all agree that Owls is a masterpiece
No place on the internet would disagree with that
YESSSSS
Yes.
🤘
Im here because i was going to play it again as the daily driver, but ended up here instead :)
Owls after this play :)
I am so depressed that I will never get to experience this live.
You think that's bad... My dad took me to see this tour live. The venue fit about 50 people max, I was standing right underneath Jake as he was screaming and instead of soaking in one of the greatest albums ever, I opted to leave the venue and stand outside for the duration of the concert after one song because it was "too loud" and I hadn't heard the album before... FML
@@bubbagidrolobidoo6730 You have a good dad

Where's the #sax tag at?
Here after Jake's departure has been announced.
What a fucking beast of a front man.
Really hoping he gets his shit together and re-joins at some point.
What's the shit? 😱
Drummers an absolute machine
Seriously. Makes it look easy all throughout.
Seriously dudes a monster
1:04:48!! Dudes from another planet.
Jared is a beast at drums, and vocals.
@@stri8ted It was at least 90F in that room too.
Fantastic band, Owls is really one of the best prog death metal albums in recent memory.
Check Mithras if you haven't.
@@yvesheinrich5013 Just listened to their most recent record, blew my mind. Thank you so much for this recommendation!
@@alexanderschildknecht2090 Glad you liked it!
Yeah, it's fascinating the fusions and the experiment you can do with Death Metal. You should also check Atheist, Cynic, Afterbirth (the record from 2017), Lykathé, Nocturnus, Ulcerate, and Gorguts.
Slugdge and Alkaloid await you
Also check out Black Crown Initiate
Jesus. That bassist is an MVP for sure.
Brutal screams. Beautiful vocals. Beast bass chops. He’s the musical equivalent of tall dark and handsome.
I have the tab book for this record. Bass tabs are about as crazy as the guitars.
@@enemy_ofthe_sun there’s a fucking tab book? where?
@@thomasoneill4386 sheet happens publishing. They collaborate with artists so the transcriptions come from the artists. There's a book for Owls and Monarchy. Cool too cause it comes with PDFs and guitar pro files too. Check it out.
@@enemy_ofthe_sun you’re the best 🤘🏻
As a metal child of the 80s, I'm so happy that todays younger generations can experience new and great bands like Rivers of Nihil. I remember seeing Pantera, Deicide, Slayer and many more in their hayday. Those memories are still a big part of my life. It's important that every generation can have that with new bands and new music.
Norwegian Berserker Bear well said
Please watch (hate5six) power trip - august 06 2016
@@acidspace6145 Hey. I'm all for energetic music, but the symbolism is very negative. The Soviet hammer and sickle represents the murder of millons of innocent men, women and children, including my family. I don't know why anyone would mix hateful ideologies like nazism and communism with positive energetic music. Sad.
@@norwegianberserkerbear8227 i'm so sorry about that, Honestly, in my country the symbol is also like the symbol of the communist party. I actually just want to tell you to watch the power trip band
@@acidspace6145 Thank you, my friend! I liked the energy of the band and the crowd!
Where Owls Know My Name is an absolute masterpiece of technical and progressive metal.
Holy moly, this album is already a classic prog metal album i think.
Yup. Just grabbed my popcorn to watch the whole damn show
Very overhyped but really good record nonetheless, wouldn't call it a classic because it doesn't bring anything new to the table but is a gateway record to a lot of people!
Fran Lovel Šimić dumbest thing i’ll read on the internet today

The Silent Life has got to be one of the best metal tracks of the decade
Blow your Saxophone, Gabriel! So awesome.
What a genius addition to this band, so killer
But I'm not that good at saxophone! It's going to sound weird.
The guy didn't play anything right though......
The saxophone in metal is one of the most beautiful things.
Can we talk about how awesome the drummer is being able to sing back-up vocals while playing? That's killer.
Check out code orange, the drummer is the lead vocalist in that band.
his drumming alone is killer. many drummers sing while playing complicated shit.
talk about the bassman. lead playing with both hands on the fretboard and screaming whilst it
Double stroking at 260 bpm he's a monster
Check out Brutus. They're not metal. They more rock / post hardcore, but their drummer is their vocalist, and she kills it.
Love the bro kiss at 50:21. True brotherly love we desperately need back in this community.

Jake is one of the absolute nicest human beings I’ve ever met. If you ever have the chance to talk to him after a show, you should. Such a great guy.
Just resided in an establishment with him for a lil while and you're right he's the nicest person in the entire Earth... Even had grown up in such a terrible hood like reading pa

Love you bro
Andy is a bad ass. Love his playing...guitar and keys as well as backing vocals.
19:03 thats the stuff, man, what this is all about. Feeling intense shit and being able to share it with the artists on stage. Pure brotherhood
18:50 lmao so sick. Like an evangelist cleansing a spirit
woah!
I came here mostly for the tumbnail. This Singer is an amazing frontman!
@@mreddyfeelgood He truly is, he was so inclusive. The guy in the thumbnail and someone else hopped on stage lots of times. Pretty much every time, he handed them the mic and willingly gave them their time to shine quite a bit. It was nice to see.
@@jbasti227 damn I really need to see them live!

Holy shit. The musicianship is amazing. So glad I found this band only a few weeks ago.
Subtle change is such an amazing track. I love the prog that they explored. I hope they never abandon that aspect of their sound. Keep exploring down that rabbit hole.
Damn, in May they;ll playing in Australia with:
Ne Obliviscaris, Caligula’s Horse, Beyond Creation, & Allegaeon
too bad that tour not coming to the states, thats a dream line-up!
Rest of america is still listening to miley cyrus, smh
Triggered
Got my tickets, can't wait!
Ne Obliviscaris is an amazing live band
I’m going to that, I CANNOT wait
Only Opeth, in their death metal era, have given me these kind of chills!!
This band is stupid good. Love how they really feel the songs they play! So much presence and emotion!
I always wanted to watch them perform live the complete set from Where Owls Know My Name.. thanks KERRANG! for making my day..
That stage performance and crowd involvement at 30:19 gave me chills down my spine. Amazing.
They did everything in their last album to deserve headlining big festivals. Supreme band!
18:51 was so fucking incredible, was that just a random fan or a buddy from a band in the pit(I’ve seen that before like another singer rocking to a band and comes up for some vocals) but this looked like to me a fan connecting with a musician in one of the most extraordinary ways, like that was some brotherhood of metal shit and it was so bad ass and honestly humanly beautiful! Like there is pain in these songs and it was like joining together sharing the pain but sharing the energy of power it gives you as well. Well done that was epic and seemed so natural, that type of shit is what I live for in metal! 🤘🏼🤘🏿🤘🤘🏾🤘🏽
I would daresay that was fucking beautiful!
I was looking for this comment! Definitely a cool moment
Never seen these guys perform, had assumed they'd use a pre recording of the sax. It was a pleasant surprise to see dude come out and play it
they don't always have it performed live. it was a special thing for this tour. Patrick is also not the guy who played on the album. Often, for just the local shows in the PA/NJ/NY area, they will have Zach, the guy who recorded the album play it live.
To be honest he kinda butchered Where Owls know my name sax part. Not saxy.
DUDE. This is SUCH a clean concert. So fking good.
The guitar solo in Hollow is simply amazing.
The saxophone is absolutely amazing
I love how much the vocalist interacts with the crowd. It's nice to see.
the best album from 2018, now live lml
I concur, good sir.
They sound fantastic live, holy shootdang.
The sax on this album is so refreshing and new. Sounds great! Rivers of Nihil, Jinjer and Black Crown Initiate is my best new band finds the last two years
I love rewatching this! Also, Jake is the perfect front man, he really gets the front row and fans engaged and really connects with them. Never gets angry with crowd movement or anything, he is really in there. Pretty cool to see. (Also, that damn intro chord for "Where Owls Know My Name" is killing my hand haha)
Reminds me of bands like touché amore and hardcore and punk a bit. Maybe this is a positive thing more death metal/prog bands could do. It’s a fresh change from the just stand on stage and perform and your done kind of performance a lot of bands do.
This is a band I didn`t "get" until seeing this, total class going to go back to the album now for sure. So cool that stuff like this is put out there, thankful to have it cheers Kerrang/Rivers of Nihil/Metal Blade, HORNS UP!!
honestly i was like that with Gojira. then i saw them on tour with behemoth and job for a cowboy forever ago. now they are one of my favorites.
@@METALisLIFE89 I saw that tour in Cleveland and Gojira blew me away. It almost made Job and Behemoth seem mediocre that night.
@@METALisLIFE89 that was my exact experience with Gojira, I saw them with Mastodon years ago without being into them, and they blew me out of the water. Been a huge fan since and make sure to attend their shows whenever they're in town.
Hollow is a song that would listen on repeat. Everything about it screams addiction and mental illness. I felt it in my heart and it gave me strength to keep pressing forward. There's always hope.
Why does their drummer make all of his parts look so easy? These songs are fast and complicated as heck. Damn.
Vheissu Jared Klein is just a fantastic drummer.
I always come back to this video. I love this performance so much. And Jake is a phenomenal frontman. One word I would use is composure. That stage becomes chaotic very quickly, and he doesn't let anything even make him flinch. He remains calm the whole set and smiles most of the way through it. If someone bumps into him, he quickly brushes it off and continues. Really professional and keeps the stage and fans energetic.
His voice reminds me of If Joe from Gojira And Jens Kidman from Meshuggah had a baby
@@voxextremos22 sometimes reminds me of behemoth and misery signals
I cry several times every time I hear this album.
It's truly a masterpiece.
I do too brother
Since seeing these dudes in Iowa I can not stop listening to them. It is trance inducing metal
"Strive to escape myself
It seems my work is never truly done
I see your shape, falter in the wake
Of a life erroneously lead"
The whole album is a masterpiece but Terrestria III… that saxophone… the build up… the hit… it’s just sooooo good 🤘
What a performance, Jared is an absolute behemoth on drums!, and makes it look easy AF!
Stage presence has improved 10 fold from your earlier performances! Must be difficult as fuck playing as spot on as you guys do, whilst still going hard on stage. Can I also mention you guys are insanely talented, a popular consensus due to alot of bands doing it, is that you guys were studio magicians, but listening to you guys live puts that claim to rest. Fucking grade brilliant performance!
I grew up with two of these guys. They’ve come a long way
They are one of the best bands to ever exist in metal, and they came from Reading.
@@Inhaleblackexhaleblue my band used to play with their band before it was Rivers of Nihil. They used to be called Amongst the Decay.
Legendary concert. Unreal performance. Whole band is insane
Discovering bands like these guys is what keeps me excited about metal. They're combining beautiful melodies with brutally heavy riffs and saxophone???? If you told me that a death metal band had a saxophone in it without playing me their music, I would assume it's a stupid gimmic but WOW. True artistry. Great band.
I regret not knowing his name; but the drummer is so damn smooth, man.. Precise, and genuine. New inspiration for sure.
Man, takes me back! Fiendin for a good live show like this again...
Amazing sound quality
Thank Will Putney for that!
Thank you Will for making my 15" subwoofer sound amazing
Owls is my favorite album and right now my playlists are slam and beatdown. It’s just so good. There’s so much emotion in the writing and it’s so heavy at the same time, it’s impossible to not love.
Never heard of this band. When they faded into silent life I was shocked. This is amazing
This album helped me through some pretty dark times! Absolute masterpiece! I caught them playing it in its entirety in Austin,Tx a few months ago! Profound experience! Thank you Rivers!!🙏🙏
I think seeing Subtle Change in this video changed my life. Amazing
Where owls know my name take me always somewhere else, in a good way. There's something magic. I feel so much emotion that is hard descripe. Thats the Magic of music. Thanks guys!!
I'm from the same area as these guys and it is awesome to see their work pay off. They have been on the grind for so long. I'm really happy for them.
They honestly made something with this album that will stand on its own forever as an integral standout in its genre… just phenomenal🤘🏽
They working hard, that’s why they stand out. I found very inspiring their last album! Can’t wait to see them live in Brisbane in a few weeks!

Love seeing the guys in Conjurer in the front row and the dudes in Wolf King crowd surfing!
This was one of the bands that bridged me from deathcore to deathmetal and I can see why. These guys transcend genre and nothing makes me happier then to see a band like this sound even better live. The vocalist sounds good on the albums but wow, he's way better live.
The Faceless and Fallujah are 2 death metal band with incredible live shows.
Fantastic recording.
