Inherent battery problems and tons of other problems. Don’t believe me? Try reading the Taycan forums. Let’s see any Taycan get a million miles. Won’t happen.

You can combine Ford's Rivian's and Lucid's EV sales together, and Tesla still sold nearly twice the number of Xes/Ses alone in Q1. With nearly a year long waiting times someone else will take your car... (That seal piece has been like that for a decade. So don't hold your breath for Tesla to fix it)

Always good to see someone who's really into EVs give the yoke a thumbs down. Everyone assumes that because this is futuristic we have to change everything. Sometimes the old ways are better.
Ev's is the way to go especially in California where gas is now $7-8 per gallon. On an average it now cost $80-90 to fill up every time here. Forget about gas prices ever coming down which is history now. Since I drive a tesla now there is no way I am buying any ICE vehicles anymore.

In the last month let’s see… $70,000 E-Tron, $75,000 Rivian, $127,000 Tesla Model S Plaid… So roughly $272,000 in one month. Is Out of Spec really getting that many subscribers and views?
I was thinking the same thing. Resale values are strong so in theory they shouldn’t lose much money if they sell them within a year. Plus a lease can written off as a business expense. But I heard a Plaid lease is around $2k/mo. Add around $900 for the E-Tron and about the same for the Rivian and that’s a ~$4k monthly nut just in car payments.
Things are going well at Out of Spec - Sprinter, Audi, Range Rover, Rivian RTI and now a Plaid. I assume they are all tied to the business but damn, what a fleet as of late.
Car resale values are so good that they just need to make enough content to make more money than the car notes. When they are ready to sell, they will get back same or more than they paid for the car. Plus tax benefits from business expenses. More fun content for us!
I don't think they really care about the Model S and X anymore. This shows with the botched Model X plaid rollout. All of the effort is spent on the Berlin and Austin factories and advancing the Model Y construction.

Not to be nosy, but where does Kyle get the money to spend $300k+ on vehicles? A youtube channel with 90k subs isnt profitable enough to afford $3-4k a month in car payments.
FIrst, he has multiple channels -- while that doesn't help subscriber counts (this is the biggest), it does help with views. Next, his videos tend to be long -- 30 minutes to over an hour isn't uncommon length for him (this one, just picking up the car, is over 30 minutes) and TH-camrs get paid for the time people watch and he puts videos out almost daily (likely multiple a day, on average, between the various channels). Then, as others say, he has various sponsors (like this one sponsored by Magna) that pay him, he has affiliate links with Amazon and other retailers (where he gets a percentage when people buy from them), etc.

I don't know how he has his business set up but, ideally, the business would own the cars and they would largely be tax deductible as a business expense. Even if he personally owns them, because of the way they are used they would still be mostly tax deductible.
Yoke off is probably the best decision. The Yoke is good for when your hands are perfectly at 3 and 9, but it could prove to be a liability in a tense situation.

Congrats on the car! Also, coming from a detailer, you should try "optimum opti-seal" instead of a normal coating, suuuuuper easy to apply and last like 6months and its then again easy to apply. I still love the channel, i've been around for a while now.

The Tesla service center near me has a detail bay that preps cars. Mine was perfect. No swirls. I took it right to the ppf guy and he put ppf all over it. And I have a black on black

Good to see someone who just likes EV's and doesn't care who makes them. The Tesla vs non Tesla nonsense you see most places is very tedious. Personally I had one of the very old Model S P85+ (back when they were single motor RWD which was interesting) and am currently waiting on a Kia EV6 GT Line S AWD which is due in about a month. I would happily have another Tesla in the future if I liked the model and the price was right (unfortunately the S is too expensive for me these days and am not keen on the 3 or Y) but equally love lots of other EVs.
That dealership looked like a ghost town unlike our's over here in the Orlando, FL area. I took delivery of my MYP last Thursday and that place was a zoo. There were four people including myself taking delivery of our new cars at the same time. And all four of us were complaining about the condition of our brand new cars. Stupid things like really crappy prep work as in pre-delivery washing and whatnot. But we were all complaining about minor issues with our cars as well. My MYP had some sort of sticky residue on the passenger side door paint. The interior had someone's grubby fingerprints. That person must have had a lot of hand lotion on their hands because there were white fingerprint marks all over the place on my black interior. My wheels on my car looked like hell. I was so disappointed how this dealership thought it would be acceptable to deliver someone's $70K in the crappy appearance that mine was. Again, I wasn't the only one that was complaining either.
I went to take delivery of a new Model S this week and I refused it for poor build quality. The bumper was missing clips and not attached properly and needed replacement. I had to point out all the flaws to have them addressed. The delivery folks hope you don’t notice or don’t care. I didn’t laugh off the flaws like Kyle.
I would be pissed too, if you want your tesla in good quality people should wait. Elon himself said that during these times where they are having a hard time making these build quality will be not soo good.

They have SUCH compelling technology and a awesome charging network to boot but screw it all up with shit like needlessly keeping around a useless proprietary connector that prevents Tesla's from getting true DC fast charging on other networks (like EA) and even more annoying they force feature like the SI shifter, incessant button removal, and dumb steering wheel designs just because retro themed video games popularized this dumb ideal of we thought the future would look like. It changes every few years. I mean it went from the Jetsons to Cyberpunk 2077. Why makes such integral design changes to reflect something that is constantly in flux? It performs like shit and will have zero percent chance of aging gracefully. Hopefully the other OEMs eventually catch up to Tesla's tech level in 25 years when the true age of the end of ICE is approaching. Until then, I will be an outsider driving hybrids.
Why would you set the speed to always show 5 mph faster than actual. I can see setting a limit, but how fast you are "actually" going is a good data to have.

Kind of surprised Kyle ordered a Model S Plaid after watching the driving videos where he said that he prefers the Taycan GTS. Turns out he drunk ordered one 😂
Because like Kyle said, it's a modern take on a muscle car and muscle cars go straight. They don't really handle. E.g. Mustang, camaro, anything formerly dodge.
As Kyle stated, the Taycan is still likely at least a year away. In the meantime, he can make a bunch of videos on the Plaid and, in a year (with current car prices) he can likely sell it for about the same price he paid for it. Sure, he'll have spent a bit of money on "upgrades" (tires, steering wheel, paint protection, etc.), licensing, insurance, etc.; but he'll likely make the money back (and some profit) on the videos he makes with the Plaid -- and if car availability hasn't improved (it may get worse for EVs as demand for raw materials for batteries is severely out pacing demand) he may actually sell the car for over what he bought it for.

My car has been down for 3 months and in the shop for 2 weeks now; I wanted a model 3 but lost my job over a year ago due to my health. Fast vs. Quick. I think you use fast in place of quick. I know the Plaid is both, but quick can win over fast. I’m surprised at the little trim problems on a car that isn’t exactly cheap to buy. I watch the Plaid channel out of Florida and he does lots of drag racing and 9.2 secs in the 1/4 mile are common and 150+ m.p.h. in the 1/4 is also the norm. There are lots of built up big block V8 engined cars that aren’t that fast. These electric cars are way out of my league price wise. I Iive in Ontario Canada and we pay more up here than you do in the States because of the $ difference. I’m in my late 70’s and if I can get the t.v. to turn on I’m good. Navigating through all those screens would probably cause me heart issues. Love your channel though.👍👍🇨🇦
Tesla vehicles don’t receive subsidies on the buyer side anymore from the feds. State of Colorado might be giving incentives tho. The real question is - how much are Fed/State/Local governments subsidising oil/gasoline/diesel?

@@TotallyJoel still funny how Giga Shanghai is able to build cars with much less QA issues than Fremont. It appears that QA in Berlin is also better than Fremont (but not yet that big of a sample size). You would hope by now they would have fixed QA in Fremont.

They have SUCH compelling technology and a awesome charging network to boot but screw it all up with shit like needlessly keeping around a useless proprietary connector that prevents Tesla's from getting true DC fast charging on other networks (like EA) and even more annoying they force feature like the SI shifter, incessant button removal, and dumb steering wheel designs just because retro themed video games popularized this dumb ideal of we thought the future would look like. It changes every few years. I mean it went from the Jetsons to Cyberpunk 2077. Why makes such integral design changes to reflect something that is constantly in flux? It performs like shit and will have zero percent chance of aging gracefully.
Hopefully the other OEMs eventually catch up to Tesla's tech level in 25 years when the true age of the end of ICE is approaching. Until then, I will be an outsider driving hybrids.

For the couple of minor trim issues you had, Tesla service should be able to take care of those. Just schedule an appointment in the app.

Kind of surprised Kyle ordered a Model S Plaid after watching the driving videos where he said that he prefers the Taycan GTS. Turns out he drunk ordered one 😂
Because like Kyle said, it's a modern take on a muscle car and muscle cars go straight. They don't really handle. E.g. Mustang, camaro, anything formerly dodge.
As Kyle stated, the Taycan is still likely at least a year away. In the meantime, he can make a bunch of videos on the Plaid and, in a year (with current car prices) he can likely sell it for about the same price he paid for it. Sure, he'll have spent a bit of money on "upgrades" (tires, steering wheel, paint protection, etc.), licensing, insurance, etc.; but he'll likely make the money back (and some profit) on the videos he makes with the Plaid -- and if car availability hasn't improved (it may get worse for EVs as demand for raw materials for batteries is severely out pacing demand) he may actually sell the car for over what he bought it for.
I like those wheels, I would not change them if it was my car.
I like the default wheels too, but might consider the 19" MW03 Martian wheels.

Fast vs. Quick. I think you use fast in place of quick. I know the Plaid is both, but quick can win over fast. I’m surprised at the little trim problems on a car that isn’t exactly cheap to buy. I watch the Plaid channel out of Florida and he does lots of drag racing and 9.2 secs in the 1/4 mile are common and 150+ m.p.h. in the 1/4 is also the norm. There are lots of built up big block V8 engined cars that aren’t that fast. These electric cars are way out of my league price wise. I Iive in Ontario Canada and we pay more up here than you do in the States because of the $ difference. I’m in my late 70’s and if I can get the t.v. to turn on I’m good. Navigating through all those screens would probably cause me heart issues. Love your channel though.👍👍🇨🇦

Tesla vehicles don’t receive subsidies on the buyer side anymore from the feds. State of Colorado might be giving incentives tho. The real question is - how much are Fed/State/Local governments subsidising oil/gasoline/diesel?
