You know it’s a car Kyle hasn’t put many miles on when the 1 year video is under an hour 😂
@@videopyc and that he simply drove the Rivian more
Kyle still sounds kind of sick and not normal...
When discussing the MPP brake kit. I mentioned it’s a rotor and caliper upgrade - it’s not! It’s a rotor and pad upgrade. Excuse my fumble there
You can get the track pack for $15k without the Zero-g wheels. Martian wheels look better anyway, no need to spend $20k.
Yes!! More road trips in plaid and R1T . Longer the better!! Glad your keeping it! Rivian videos lately have been awesome!
wish Kyle could experience going to a service center as a non-TH-camr. If he thinks EA charging is bad, experience an authentic Tesla service center experience. It would be the subject of every video posted.
They’re simply highly variable experiences
@@brandenflasch agreed, experience of a TH-camr with 100K subscribers would vary when compared to the tesla owner without 100K subscribers.
@@scottcody8795 even aside from that - it’s highly variable by location
Never had any issues in the Netherlands at my local service center. Very kind staff and incredibly helpful for the one time something broke on my car (just a sensor). It's just highly dependent on the location and who is in front of you on that day.
@@scottcody8795 I just have a '22 MS LR and no YouTubing for me yet our service center happens to be incredibly fantastic. Placed a service for something very minor problem in the console in the morning, it didn't stop halfway as it did when I first got it. Same afternoon the mobile service called me to tell me he was 20 minutes out for his arrival. Fix it under 10 minutes, check out the tires and asked if I have any other issues. Gave me his direct line to call or text anytime, now that's service I've never gotten with any other ICE vehicles.
Great video , I have the original Plaid refresh right before they refreshed again, strange they did that so soon w the new charge port, taillights, headlights, etc. LOVE my car and I have the same mountainpass brake set up and I even run the same 295/35 20 square setup on custom signaturewheels. I have intuitive lowering links like you are getting and I love them. Never selling this car. Keep up the great videos 🙌🏼
Totally agree the model S Plaid is the ultimate all in one car. I got one of the first here in Europe late last year. 10k miles trouble free. Thinking hard about track pack, mostly because brakes are weakest point. On Autobahn this is the king. Leaves everything else behind and is a comfortable and efficient tourer. For me it's a keeper for years to come.
Definitely my dream car
Just upgrade the pads and rotors and you will be happy and have an extra $12000 in your pocket. Unless you go max attack on the track that's more than enough.
Sad that it’s like gambling if you get a Plaid without problems or with many, which shouldn’t be a problem at this price point
@@binflydushy It's an unfortunate consequence of them building them in Fremont. By far their worst quality because it's their oldest production system. Hopefully they can get it up to current sometime soon so everyone who ends up with a car from there doesn't have to play roulette.
I’d love to see more Model S road trips, maybe one like you guys did before to Glassier Park and Moab. Or maybe even Salt flats and get some drone footage of that car like the opening scene from Knight Rider.
I'm about 14 months into my Plaid experience. The car is fantastic, I love everything about it. I really haven't done anything to it other then switching out the Pirelli summer tires out for Michelin's during our Midwest winters. The factory Pirelli's are a great tire, very smooth and quiet. All the body seams are not perfect. But I've never seen a car that was. The brakes are really the very minimum it should have. But then I never use the brakes any way. This was my first EV and I was curious how road trips would be into more rural areas. That was joyous surprise. The trips I took, the car wound up waiting for me at the charging bay. I did a lot of research before making this purchase. So I knew what to expect. If my intent was to flip the car like a lot of people did. I would be one sad sack. Musk playing with the price of cars like a toddler with building blocks has lost about 40% of my buy in price. Since I planned on keeping the car for a minimum of 5 years, it's a non issue. I can't say anything about Tesla service as I haven't had any need. All in all, it's a very comfortable car for any type of use. It can carry good amount of stuff too. I really like it more than I thought I would. One of the bigger perks is that regular maintenance is basically non-existent. There's just not much to worry about.
no issues with tire wear?
That toddler knows what he’s doing
Lol 40%
ALLYSSA, PREACH IT SISTA! AMEN! HALLURLOOYA! The problem Kyle is that there are a lot of people out there that think they are capable of driving that fast, and they ain't. They also sometimes do thoughtless and careless things like launching or driving fast on residential streets that have a high probability of a child, pet or toy darting out in front of them. Just sayin.
Maybe Alyssa should dress up in a nun's habbit before riding along?
Cool, you are in Loveland, right down the road from us. I am watching your Plaid videos right before my on Plaid experience.
Rented a Model X Plaid on Turo for 3 days. My feedback was this: I could see myself owning it and overall really enjoyed it. However the chrgeport was already broken and had to be opened and closed manually. The instrument cluster shut off randomly a few times and wouldn't come back on until some time later on future drives. And the Falcon wing doors creaked quite a bit over rougher roads. I can see peoples criticisms for the price for sure,
Fit the mudflaps to the front wheels and stop the stone chipping. The flaps are quite discreet.
Looking forward to the Hogback with this! (and comma)
OE tires almost always suck because they are optimized for comfort and noise, but most of all price. So they are typically lighter weight but due to a reduction in material, which usually shows as narrower treadwidth as well. This is consistent for any Mercedes spec tires on Tirerack.
Interesting review. I've been considering getting a Model S after having owned a Model 3P. Don't care much about the Rivian. Glad to have Alyssa back on the reviews.
Kyle you need to test the lotus eletre on the 10% challenge as I think it could beat the current champ.
The spec w/wheels is so beautiful!
The biggest problem with the car that you didn't mention is that you can't adjust the suspension much - certainly not as you need it for performance use. The air suspension is a compromise between comfort and performance, but they definitely hedged toward comfort so it really isn't viable for real track use. The most recent track mode updates do slightly stiffen the damping more than before, but the hardware is the limit. The problem is it's integrated into the software so it's hard to put something more performance on it. That's different than the rest of the suspension. While the suspension arms don't allow adjustment into the range necessary to tune the car to turn in well and the bushings are too squishy for the extreme loads the car can generate on track those can be upgraded and the car doesn't care. Same goes for the brakes - it's clearly a cost move to use the same brakes as the LR, and for 90% of even Plaid owners they are fine, but for real track use performance pads are a must, and bigger, higher capacity rotors are also a good idea. The track pack brakes bring back what they originally planned for the 'Plaid+' model, but they are super expensive and unnecessary once you have good iron brakes. Both options are mechanical so the car software doesn't get upset when you change them though. It's a killer road trip car and it's a hoot and I agree with both of you on the power - it's completely unnecessary and even dangerous in the wrong hands, but I'm glad we get to play with such a crazy car! Best car by far I've ever driven for all sorts of use cases!
No one makes a Street Car that’s an uncompromised Track Car for obvious reasons.
Would love to see a review of the track package for the Plaid
Do you think they’ll add ventilated seats in the back for rear passengers?
Do you keep it at 50% state of charge to keep the battery in its goldilocks zone of comfort and longevity?
Great channel
Thanks 👍🙏🏽😁👌🏾❤️
Kyle the problem with doing anything you want, other people generally get hurt. I know you are an expert driver and I love what you do, but even in America you can't do anything you want.
Definitely one of the cringiest thing he has said in a video lol
You guys realize that people actually can do whatever they want but there are consequences.. lol
@@amusicthang I wouldn't want to be an innocent consequence. If he piles it in driving solo on the track, yeah, he and his family suffer the consequences. If he piles it in on public roads, he could very well take others with him in and out of his car. Why do they deserve these consequences so he can be "free" to get his track mode rocks off?
You should black out the lights, looks better that way. And if I could ask, could you test the tesla track package?
I have a 950hp Hellcat and I would choose my Plaid in a second if made to pick. How does the interior size compare to the Taycan? I'm a big boy and the RSQ8/AMG GLE 63 was about as small as I can go.
What fuse do you pull on the p100d inorder to drift it
I agree the S is the best looking electric vehicle.
Sounds like a lot of the issues stemmed from the accident. Sounds like a bad hit to shear an entire side of your suspension off
Kind of agree with Alyssa, the performance of this car is too much for most people and if driven by numpties is dangerous for other road users
Yes, Yes, Yes! Kyle is ignoring the fact that the rest of us have to put up with those making bad decisions on public roads.
I live near you, I got an 21’ M3 and thinking the s would be a good family car to trade for the M3 :(
You need to road trip to Raleigh!!
Be at ease. If you consider the fact that your Model S Plaid is as fast or faster than exotic cars that can cost over $1,000,000, it’s an incredible bargain. Even if you add the $20,000 Track Pack…
Please test track package. Hoping the new Model S gets it as optional equipment from the factory.
man i know is expensive but i would like to see the track pack from this channel maybe borrow one with the track pack :p
Would love to know what you average in mi/kWh with this!
Is it true that the rivian can only go to 112 miles per hour?
Hmm... I vote for The Cursed Plaid for the next cannonball run! :D
That trunk rattle sounds like your license plate
Ooo good suggestion! Wouldn’t it be funny if that’s what it turned out to be - I’ll check
Agree
@@KyleConner Just pop some foam behind it.
I find it amazing how fast Kyle's brain works. The gift of intelligent gab without pause.
💯
It's an effect of the Starbucks Strawberry Acai Refresher drink.
I'm with you Alyssa (I hope I've spelt that right)...
The old time steering wheel , one hand knob would be great on yokes.
How is the Model 3 doing lol, upvoted!!!
OOSR Fan boy. Any rear tire wear issues? Learning there is a common overlooked problem with the inner sidewalls on plaids? Got some other questions to. Would love to chat or contact direct. thanks.
see u there Kyle. From British Columbia. I m riding down on my Harley Trike so don t hate me!😜
Kyle, I hope Jordan left on good terms (I realize he snagged a good gig at UC-B.) Great seeing Alyssa back, too!
He just did a cameo in the Martian Wheels video! I busted out laughing!
So cool, That launch is SPICY!!Looking forward to seeing you all at the Tesla Takeover!
I had 2022 model S was hit and insurance totaled it. Got a 2023 model S and the difference between the 2022 and 2023 models is different when driving Tesla did made it better.
Too much to drink😂 Last night I was smoking some weed and drinking and almost ordered the X. Didn’t do it then but this morning I pulled the trigger at 4:20 AM. Getting same color as your Dad. Trading in a 2018 Model 3 LR RWD
I own a Model S (2021) and can say it’s the best car I’ve ever owned!
The tire problems between Mercedes and a Tesla are most likely due to the large weight difference, not necessarily manufacturer specifications.
Not really. Tesla's weigh pretty much the same amount as comparable ICE vehicles.
Cannot agree more regarding the turn signal stalk.
Kyle puts an average amount of annual miles on a car. Kyle: I barely drove this car! 😂
maybe someone can make turn stick tuning for it in future
You need to test the Lucid Saphire as soon you can
Seeing as it’s not in series production yet, it’s purely a concept car. Can’t wait for them to make it. Then I’ll test it!
Yoke needs steer by wire to be really good.
💯x💯 That would resolve virtually everything including no stalks
A new plaid today is a great deal.
But unfortunately they make them in Fremont.
@@JohnDoe-xr8dz I've had two Fremont Teslas and they were both fine.
Petition for Tesla to add "Kyle Connor Mode" in a future FSD update. When enabled, the car shouts, "Everyone, out of my way!" and drives a bit more manically. 😆
26:14 best looking EV 😅
7:22 plaid goes whompy? Describes suspension shearing.
10:31 arguably too
So don’t crash a Plaid, shear off both axles and expect to be happy with it?
9:10
I always stay far away from the wrecked looking cars, especially the Nissans lol 🤣
The story of the car is fun. You should have named it Junior or something like that.
Have you noticed any excessive inner tire wear? The arms you ordered will help but seeing a lot of complaints in S plaid forums.
How about Tata and Mahindra?
Please can we have coda detailing video
Yes!
@@KyleConner thanks love the content and hope we see Amna too soon
Funny… I have the ModelS and R1T. P100D tho. I have to agree tho.
I have a 22 MS plaid and today I had a error message come up saying “acceleration and top speed reduced” and “power limited” oh and regen brake error message as well. Anyone eles have this issue? Only 6,000 miles 😢
Apparently not uncommon. Some have been lemonded.
Hell ya
30:15 “Let’s end this here…” on a 34:42 video. 😂
bro.. stop arguing with Alyssa like damn you dont have to insert your opinion and respond immediately to what she says let her have the floor and just be satisfied with her answer.
Typical neckbeard tendencies
Canada 🇨🇦 Canada 🇨🇦 come on up!!
89990 is good price for buy?
I think so.
Why are all the cars so dirty? You got OOS detailing. Use it!
Thanks for the msp content. Very entertaining. Got mine for $125k out the door new +$16k for the track pack a week ago.
Ooof man does that suck
I doubt theres any difference in the brand tire optimization. Im sure its just more money and a mercedes logo
I don't think you really can sell the car, just run it until the wheels fall off at this point, it's so underwater on value.
Yup he’s trapped with it
🤔...enjoy hearing from you and especially Alyssa, shes right about track mode but you sure are long winded/drag stretch things out, can the goal be 15 to 20 minutes max
I tooootally love your videos, you are definitely the best EV reviewer out there, and nobody knows more about them than you do, but why on earth wouldn’t you wash the car before the video showcasing it?😆 $5 brother....
Go for the 2024 SUV Audi SQ8! Fabulous!
I've always been attracted to the idea of 1000hp but realistically it's useless. I have the RWD Taycan with the big battery and my average speed is around 35mph due to living around the DC/VA area.
It’s really a semi useless gimmick and that’s it. It’s cool at first, you show it off to all your friends then when that’s done you’re driving 95% at 35mph like everyone else and you blew an extra 40k on something you barely touch anymore
I'd suggest covering Reliability and build quality differences between the S and 3/Y. I get the impression that the 3/Y is fairly bullet proof except for control arms where the S has a poor designed handle but also lower reliability with the suspension and motor issues. The production volumes are very low on S and X and I just get the feeling Telsa isn't putting nearly as much effort into s and x because of that. What do you think? I've considered buying an older S but I just see too many motor and Hv battery issues. I feel like the S is likely much higher maintenance and more issues than 3 and Y..?
Why don’t you buy the track upgrades for the plaid?🤔
Expensive for little value for the amount of time I spend on track (minimal)
@@KyleConner It's not really necessary either - get good iron rotors/pads and they will take anything this car can put out with respect to power. We haven't seen how long they last yet either, we just know they are ~5x the cost of pads and rotors. That said Tesla ended up working with AP to design and build the system and they are very high quality parts and certainly reduce the unsprung and rotating mass some. I'd love to get a set of the calipers and put iron brakes in them!
who is the lady behind the camera?
I think I'd pass out when drinking before making a decision to drop $100k on luxury item, LOL. Your mileage my vary.
Where’s Jordan?
Imagine how the dealership employees will think about you if you bring a car in to fix rattles
I have never heard Kyle so excited about any car. He can't wait to go grip and rip on the road, I mean track
If you do ever plan on selling it, I might be interested. Might be a good video to do a final road trip to Florida in it :D
Good to know! Stay in touch 👌
I feel like Kyle's Plaid would have been less likely to spin out if it had had wider tires in the back.
Hmm, Tesla Takeover end of month? Plenty of time for a Cannonball Run to the West Coast! Codrivers Drew and invite Seb Vettel!
Kitt is still waiting for the yoke.
I'm still waiting for KITT. A car that talks sass.
Track mode vs Weapons…
The glare was too much!
40k off great deal
Not having sentinel ON and parking randomly is a bad move... why would you even do that ?
For a 130k it should be delivered to you all sorted. Super car price for economy car quality.
Damn that's a rough hit on value.
I know you only have near 12k miles. Do you need new tires yet? Seem like you floor it a lot.
Dangit Kyle, please stop making me want to give Musky more money to torpedo twitter with. Seriously, been contemplating going Plaid from M3P as a not-quite-mid-life crisis purchase because the round wheel option became available and Ultra Red/Black would resemble my first ever car, which was so rare and cool almost no one would know what it is. Stupidly faster while way less obscure and (arguably) less cool? Eh, fair trade.
