This video was taken down and edited to remove a portion about Billy Mitchell, with new trivia added in its place. We understand why some viewers were disappointed with Billy Mitchell's inclusion in the original edit of this video, and how the section about him was presented.
We decided to remove the section about Mitchell entirely rather than rework the section and dedicate a large portion of this video to Mitchell’s high score controversy, which honestly seems to have more to do with Donkey Kong than it does Pac-Man. That said, we think it’s only right that we cover the controversy on this channel, which we will do in another video. We hope this sheds some light on the situation.
We also want to say thank you to everyone who took the time to calmly and clearly explain their issues with the original edit of this video. We understand how intensely some viewers feel about our videos, and how it can be difficult to give constructive feedback when disappointed or upset with the actions of an entity you look up to in some way.

That 6 mil score story sounds like one of those "then everybody clapped" stories.
The Pac-Man version played on the jumbotron in that footage was the Atari 400 computer version. It looks clearly superior to the sad 2600 version and you could see the computer next to the TV in front of the boy.
@@gswanson Possibly. The 5200 is directly based on the 400 line, the same version of Pac-Man was made for both and they look identical. It probably depends whether the competition was setup through Atari's console division or computer division.
Hopefully it was the latter, that would have been a miserable competition if everyone had to use those awful 5200 joysticks.

@@jesuszamora6949 Definitely and I can confirm that. The one and only day I got my secondhand 5200's joysticks to work, my time with Pac-Man was not at all working out well with those things.

Although the controversy didn't really bothered me personaly, the way you guys hadled it really deserves praise, specially considering the matters involving the sponsor of the original video. Keep up the good work.
Fun fact: The concept for the GPS Pac-Man game will be reused in an upcoming game.
I thought it already had, with the Pac-Man Google Maps event in 2015, and Pac-Man Geo last month.

@@tyghcoderxtreme8839 Don't worry, you're not missing much. The controls are really awkward and the gameplay slows down a lot when you're close to a ghost. Still a cool concept, hopefully they update it to fix the issues by the time you get a better phone, or maybe update it to work with your old one.

The Pac-Man GPS game may have been the inspiration for Pac-Man's temporary inclusion on Google Maps, turning selected portions of the map into a playable format.

@GenesisGems He lied about his high scores. Threatened people and companies with lawsuits when they had facts about his lies (Not a hypothesis about it but cold hard facts). Tried to sued people that presented those facts and practically forced them to either lie or keep their mouths shut. He is a manipulative and horrible person. Simple as that
@GenesisGems No. It was about a Donkey Kong score but he is a bad person overall. I should add that he sued as well Cartoon Network for Regular Show that had a parody of him but CN won that.

They did, there's a mobile game just like it called Pac-Man Geo that came out just last month. It's not very good, but it's free and worth a try if you're curious.

There actually exists a version of Pac-Man where level 256 can be completed! For the game’s 35th anniversary, a plug-and-play system was released featuring a version of Pac-Man where the player can reach Lv 256 and complete it. It was even one of the big selling points on the back of the box.
There’s a mobile game based entirely around it too

At 5:55 The "largest Pac-Man convention" is touted as the infamously rushed Atari 2600 version of the game being played on the jumbo screen, but the footage shown looks more in line with the Atari 5200 (?) version. Could someone please provide some clarity about this?

Real talk! THANK YOU for explaining why the kill screen is unbeatable. I've wondered why you couldn't just navigate the jumbled mess ever since I've heard about it. Every time I would try to look it up, I would end up going down a lovely rabbit hole regarding the person formerly in this video.

Why the hell dont we make a version of Pac-Man without a kill screen?
The NES version has no kill screen, but to do this, the game simply repeats one level afterwards over and over to avoid the kill screen. However, this one level in particular still has some power pellet frames whereas the last few levels before 256 has the power pellet last only one frame. It's also hard to tell what level exactly because the fruits on the round counter are all keys.
Hadn't someone made a ROM hack patch to solve the issue? I seem to remember this circulating some years ago.
Wouldn't that entail changing how that number is stored? How easy would it be to change that to, say, a 16-bit integer?
I was kind hoping they'd address things like "Was the typing with boxing gloves line from PMW3 a nod to Homestar Runner?" or "Who thought it was a good idea to put a sex joke in PMW3?"
My favorite part of this video was the low-quality smear of the Suezo model at the Tokyo Game Show- I'd do anything for a crumb of Monster Rancher content
