  • After 2.5 years my tires on my Honda PK5 was starting to wear pretty bad from all the road abuse from driving back and forth from my house to my hunting lease. Also with the tread wearing down made the weak bighorn 2.0 ease to puncture since they are only 4 ply. After searching for a tire that could handle the weight of my machine plus my payload, DOT rated for highway use, a good all around tread design for multiple terrains, 8 ply or better tire, and came in factory sizes that my pioneer came with. I decided on the tusk terrabites. They are a awesome tire for my needs. Check them out at rocky mountain atv

    Slapping some on my Teryx4 today. We'll see how they handle the Arizona trails. I do a lot of road driving to get to the trails too. 6-10 miles each way. Then anything from sand wash, sometimes mud to rocky hard pack and those pesky cactus lol. Great vid!

      I really like the products and service from Rocky mountain ATV. These tusk terrabites are awesome. Only thing I haven't got to try them in is snow, but I'm sure They will do fine. They also have fast shipping ! In your case its even better. Local pickup. Thanks for watching

    They seem like the perfect tire for our needs in Costa Rica. Pavement, gravel, sand and hard trails. I will have to see if they sell them there, the next time we are down. We just put on new stock tires before we shipped it, so might be a few years!

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bet they would be perfect for Costa Rico. Stocks are ok till the lugs wear down about have way. Then there easy to puncture. But still a good tire.

    I just put a set of system 3 xtr370s on mine. 28x10x14 all the way around. What a difference. $575 off Amazon. Got about 50 miles on so far. Ride nice on pavement, sand, mud and soft trails. So much better than the stock big horns, wish i would have done it sooner, your gonna be so happy with the 8ply. BTW I used your LED strips in mine, I saw how bright your were and opted for one with a dimmer lol. Only $20.

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for sharing the info on the tires. I agree with you if i had known they would make this big of a difference i would have got rid of the bighorns a long time ago. My lights in the pioneer are bright for sure. They are great when we are trail riding or filming at night close to the pioneer but i have thought about seeing if i can add a dimmer. It's on my list to try.

      Thank you. I'm going to shoot another video of me putting them to the test. Wanting to try them in different terrain conditions and see how they hold up. So far on the road and trails they are awesome. But i couldn't believe the difference they made on the road. Smooth ride,steering was better and handle like a truck. Awesome tire for sure. I put System 3 XTR370's 28x10x14 all the way around on my P1k3. Can't really give a review on those yet just haven't had time to hit the trails much here yet. Friend of mine bought my stock wheels/tires so I went with new wheels also.

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keep us posted on how they perform. I’m gonna put mine to some test in another video soon. I actually bought a set of stock take offs from a guy on marketplace that has better tires than I took off mine. They are limited wheels with bighorns. I was gonna put them on mine but decided to go with new tires. Lol. I will check out the tires you got and see what they look like. And like I said before comment back when you get some miles and abuse them a little. Thanks for watching.

    The big horns on the machine I just got are 6 ply so I'm hoping I don't see all the punctures that you had lol

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hope you don't either. lol. Reason mine was so bad was because of driving it 4 miles one way to my hunting lease over the last 3 years. So when the tires wore down they was much easier to puncture. Plus one of the spots on our lease has a lot of locust trees which have a ton of sharp thorns on them. The deer head towards those thickets once they have been hit so we end up with thorns in our tires after the retrieval. Plus these hills and hollers in east tennessee seem to have barb wire in some of the oddest places. lol.

I've got a rack off of my back bed too that I haul my deer on cuz I don't like getting blood in the bed, the only difference is I brought mine out and up even with the back so the deer wouldn't go down in a ditch or a hole when I crossed the creek or something. I run mine at 12 to 14 PSI. I have not had any issues with wear at all. These seem to be the perfect tire for me so far. They are awesome for the road, Do great on trails, No issues with hills even covered in leaves, No issues in mud. Only issue i had was a soft red clay bank during a rainstorm and at a slow speed they spun a little but went on up the hill in 4x4. Also looking forward to trying them out in the snow. Your gonna love these tires over the bighorn 2.0

    • @pineylife

      I believe 29s will work. The only place they might rub is on the fender well when the tire is turned real deep but after measuring I think they will clear. Looking back now I wish I had got a 28 or 29.

    Do you or have you heard of anyone having computer issues,failure of computer due to heat, I have just replaced the second computer due to what a dealer thinks that heat shield is partly the cause.
    I don’t necessarily agree with there assumption. If you know of anyone with a similar failure please pass this back to me,thanks.

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only person I have heard having a computer issue was a guy in Guatemala. He was messaging me about heat issues with his computer on his pioneer. He did the insulation kit and added a a fan that pulls heat from the motor area and sends it out under the utv. I believe its a DEI kit also. But I guess it fixed his issue because I havent heard anything else about it. The last time I talked to him He said the heat was much better and no computer issues.
      Im like you I do not believe the Heat shield is the issue.
