Today I take on Gears of War 2's hardest difficulty for its hardest achievement... well the other one. Lots of things in this playthrough bullied me, but there were a few parts that did more than others.

I've still got "THEY'RE SINKING THE CITIES WITH A GIANT WORM" stuck in my head all these years later. Great game, but man does the difficulty not mess around.

Of all the carmines this one hit me hard. My buddy got me into gears this year….we played every single one of them together in one month. It made me see what I missed just like the original mass effect and that trilogy I played recently as well.
Benjamin ‘Worm Food’ Carmine will certainly be a vital member for Delta Squad. Can’t wait for his great character arc to unfold.

To make future runs not as painful for everyone else.
1) Kantus are pains but they aren't as bad so long as you take out the tickers
2) gorgon pistols are great against wretches and tickers.
3) use a boom shield when possible.
4) avoid everything that snam does.
*Avoids playing Gears on Insane mode*
Gears 2 isn't even that bad. My opinion it is the best game in the series. Just from the short snips it looked like he was playing far too aggressively. Wait till he does gears 4. It has some ridiculous sequences and the checkpoints are horrendous. Juvies completely ruin being able to use cover. And the wave sequences are just crazy hard in some places.
One of my favorite games of all time! The campy fun in games of that time was something special in hindsight. Hyped to see you go through it and relive it again
Tbh the last time I played this was back in 2010 so I forgot everything. Genuinely forgot how good a game this is (besides the fish)

When I did the fish I spent about an entire day trying to figure out how to do damage to it before trying to enter it's mouth at all

Loved this series of games I do miss competitive gears a lot I remember playing cod or gears gamebattles every weekend in high school. Being the best wall bouncing guy in every I knew was great when we had weekly 1v1 tournaments to see who paid for gas that week in my friend group. For 3 years I rarely paid for gas in my truck.
Playing through this and Gears 1 with my friends as 8 year olds in one sitting on Insane, while rotating shifts of the two controllers are core memories of mine

This is the best game ever. Plot, characters, enemies, map design, the gritty graphics, the nostalgia THE MUSIC. Watching this near makes me want to cry because this shit was my childhood

@@bruhgod123 yeah but I still liked it more because there was more guns, more enemies, cooler enviroments(new hope, inside of worm, nexus, snowy area etc)
more variety(reaver hijack, brumak hijack, torture barge hijack, assault derrick sequence, riding the centaur to nexus etc. Gow 1 was good but mostly the same minus a couple parts

Massive balls
Gears of War 2 is one of the best videogame sequels of all time if we compare it to the first game (which was already great).
Also 15 years later it still has one of the most brilliant, tragic cutscenes I've ever seen in a videogame: Dom finding Maria. Gives me chills and gets me a bit emotional every time. Homie goes through multiple stages of grief in about a minute.
I was 10 watching that scene and shed a tear. I know it’d kill me now.

Man, insane in this game is so much fun, its my favorite game in the series as well. The atmosphere of these decrepit ruins and labs to the colossal underground alien looking caverns and castles. So many great memories. And for some reason i personally find Gears 1 a bit harder, have no idea why.

i love how Anthony & Benjamin Carmine are just your run of the mill basic grunt & then there’s Clayton Carmine, who’s built like mack truck & is the same size as Marcus Fenix 😂😂 i can see why the brothers suffered the fates they did
The reason average gears like Anthony and Benjamin are small and NCOs like Marcus and Clayton are big is because the cog started putting steroids and growth hormones in the food of the higher ranking gears since the average human is much weaker and smaller than even a basic locust drone

The reason Clayton survives Gears 3 is necessary Epic games left it to the fans to decide in a poll, majority voted for him to survive

Because of watching your series, I actually went through the first three games with a friend on insane and we just beat gears 3 with a third person which was one of the most fun and difficult experiences in gaming I’ve had in a hot minute. At the end we had 654 deaths in total for gears three and we’re now moving to 4. Thank you for doing this and sparking this idea with my friends and me. 4 will be interesting, considering I found out there is a difficulty beyond insane. God help me and glad to see your vids and streams.
Hey snam because of your first gears of war video it inspired me to play the entire gears of war franchise and series and im currently at the very end of the series so far with gears 5 and it does make me feel better to see you pull your hair out like i did when I played gears 1 and 2

I did this run back when the game was new and I thought it was a lot of fun. I loved GOW2, It's my favorite in the series. I'm psyched to see you playing this one. Been looking forward to this since the first GOW video.
There’s a trophy in battlefield 3 that’s notoriously hard, it would make for a good video, it’s a sniper mission in coop and it’s extremely difficult you need expert aim and it requires two people. You might get it eventually but trust me it would be a cool video to watch, much harder than mile high club.

Hardest in the trilogy? Absolutely not. At least not in my experience. 3 has sections that you literally just need to pray to RNGesus that you survive.

The chainsaw was clutch for during my playthrough when fighting the sires, that and grenades.
You know, I'm a horrible person as i can't stop watching these video's, its seeing how you are able to die so many times (sometimes to dumb stuff), get stuck for hours and still just laugh it off, its honestly refreshing. Seeing games enjoyed as they should be.

You made me look up my achievements on this game. I unlocked the final achievement on 08/10/2010. This video brought back so many memories and so much pain lmao I spent damn near the whole summer 100% this with my friend and brother. The horde achievements were the absolute worst lmao

A very handy tip is to abuse a technique I call “turret reset” when you get on a turret and get off immediately your health resets. The reason I don’t call it a bug is because it’s in most gears games including 4

I remember playing every gears game on insane solo at some point and did gears 5 inconceivable solo. They were never really hard to me either. I did play these a ton online though and I wasn't a kid when these came out. I still remember the midnight launch I went to for this game at game crazy. We all waited around the perimeter of the inside of Hollywood video and waited in line until midnight.

Ehh what was the cogs plan marching an armoured convoy across hostile territory? Especially when said enemy can create impassible terrain extremely easily (corsper tunnels). The hammer of dawn should have been on standby during the drive to landown at the very least

As frustrating ir can be GOW2 in it's mad crazy difficulty is my fave experience with the franchise. Still, to hell with the fish annd the jumpscare shotgun at 49:37. Great vid!

I was super into Gears of War as a kid. I'm very early in the video, so I don't know if you adapted and learned certain things, but I have a few pieces of advice for improving your strategies. These apply from Gears 1 through to Judgment, and maybe 4 and 5. I never played those though.
1. Emptying your mag and hitting the action reload is the most optimal method instead of reloading after a few bullets like with most shooters. That damage boost adds up QUICK.
2. Using the Gnasher, rolling into enemies and shooting as soon as possible is an insta-kill on most enemies and a very safe method of doing so. No need to ADS as well since it's a guaranteed gib if you have the camera centered on your target.
3. Letting the AI do most of the dirty work is one of the best ways of handling the early parts of each skirmish. They usually go down in safer spots to revive from early on in each battle.
4. Turret sections are heavily scripted and therefore the easiest to adapt to. Dying a few times is pretty much the only way to learn what moves to make and how.
5. Melee is significantly underrated when it comes to defense. Meleeing then going for a one shot kill with a marksman weapon like the boltok or just using the gnasher in a pickle is a great way to deal with aggressive AI.
6. Blind firing is another underrated defensive move. Making that extra bit of damage without risking a hit is sometimes the difference between going back to the last checkpoint or getting to the next one.
7. Meat shields are super viable, especially when it comes to clearing crowds. Using your grenades with the meat shield kicks them forward, which can also cause enemies to stumble if you're lucky, but they'll blow up all the same.
Hopefully this helps with future cover-humper challenges!
Only problem with these strategies is one, gnasher is useless on insane as 1, sometimes even 2 shots doesn't get the job done. Two, melee is a one hit kill on you on insane and rarely guarantees a kill or even a down, and enemies often melee you right after you melee them. And three, allies rarely go down in a safe spot and are quite useless on gears 1 and 2. Other than that, these are some good strategies.
I remember vaguely playing this on insane back in 2009. That was over 14 years ago, yet whenever you show a difficult section, my eyes roll into the back of my head and I get Vietnam-Esque flashbacks of wanting to smash my controller.

For grenades you can just use right trigger to lob the grenade instead of swinging it
