I know a guy thats visited Pattaya nearly 80 times over 20 plus years and he told me that a bar girl will not give you the 50 cents she found on the ground if you needed it. Thats how they are. Zero empathy and will milk you until you have nothing and not lose any sleep over it.

@L-Nino definitely. The thing with me is i luck self control. So the best way is often to avoid tempting circumstances like having a full cellar in my house, buying one kg of peanut at once, staying a week in Pattaya, you get the gist. And in reality, in my humble opinion, I don't see any reason why I would want to live in those red light districts if I wasn't doing it for the fun they provide. So I generally book far away from those, that way it takes an effort to visit the places and I am not exposed to beautiful things every time I go out for a walk. 😆 😆 . But hey, I am currently married, so that serves as a nice guard rail, at least for now. So those tactics were for when i was unmarried.

My advise to anyone that leaves their country to live in Thailand be financially setup to go the distance

I want to return so badly for my 40th birthday year in 2023. But a different island this time. In all seriousness, he is getting himself into shark infested water. Farangs gets smarter, and so does the women. What a lot of Thai women don't understand is that we make more money on paper, but our expenses at home are also way higher. We don't have thai bills on our western salaries. So I don't think he was cheap for giving her 400$.
Most of the Thai girls know very well that cost of living in our western countries is a lot higher. Because we all tell them all the time.. "You know what this costs in my home?"
They are not so naive. But they dont care much about our costs of living. They care more about what they can get out of our pockets. "A guy that can spend 7 Euros on a beer and 20 Euros on a small Meal regularly can spend quite some more money on me" "

So they tend to be easy targets by these cowgirls and every aussie story you will hear is about a good bloke being taken advantage of. Ah the memories. As on 18yo who'd just joined the Aussie Navy I did my 1st deployment, 3 months through S/E Asia, Tailand, Philipines, Singapore, Hong Kong and a couple of other places. Here's how I handle it in 2023: Have no money in the bank except your monthly Social Security check. Let them know your broke. Are you out to pick up a Kardashian? Pay their rent of (yes) $120 a month and they are grateful and your companion and happy if you slip them $30 bucks a week (500 baht or $15 here is plenty to eat for two or three days). So you're spending maybe $250 a month on your "wife." Who doesn't? And that is the price so suffer through all this "24/7 happiness"? I'll take that deal. I have. Oh and common sense prevails. If they ask for a new cell phone, you say "Is yours broken? We only replace stuff in this house when it's broken." End the requests. If they start talking about buying a condo, say "I can't afford it." Is that that difficult? If they say they're gonna leave you over not buying her brother a motorcycle , well, let them leave. That means THEY DON'T LIKE YOU. One who DOES like you will brush off the scam. They'll drop it. Run the house. If they need to send dad money, you say, "No, your father beat you and chased you out onto the streets. I'm not helping him. Sorry." Let them turn into "hellcats" for a couple days, that's called "Scene from a Marriage" as I twice recall it. They understand the blunt facts of life. They depend on you, too, so you're not powerless in the relationship. Lay down the law occasionally. Remind them you're both struggling on gas fumes. Oh, and take them shopping at the used clothes bazaar. Dresses are Bt150 ($5) They're happy with that. If they're not, you got a sharpie and reconsider. Don't buy what you can't afford. Horror stories of guys buying water buffalos and cars? Well, good for the girl. Never give a sucker an even break. LOL.
