😆 Love that sound. I just realized why I love this channel. You get away with what I try to do. when I used to drive around on my day's off or help with errands with the wife. I was a big problem. Yeh Me a problem. I would pull off the road, stop and gawk at trains. she put up with me but what the heck. For ever time I stop to look. It would add more time for her at the Mall or W-Mart/Tgert. That was our deal. Love this hobby. Thanks Steve.
It seems like the UP drivers are the nicer ones as I've only really noticed they are the ones that will blow the horn in acknowledgement of the railspotters, as opposed to the CN, BNSF or Nolfolk Southern drivers.
I've heard of photographers and railfans being chased away from videoing Annoyfolk Southern trains by their railroad police at railroad crossings and off their property, that would freak me out. I have a huge anxiety disorder and I have a difficult time getting out to railfan any more. If I could meet a new friend in central Wisconsin 🙂 , especially with a scanner 😉 I'd enjoy going to chase trains! Thank you Steve for this channel it means a lot to me 🤠
Hey Steve . FYI , Mixed freight are called manifest trains and the trains with all one type of car are called unit trains. Keep videoing trains , i will watch them.
Hey man big fan of both of your channels was a former DOT officer up here in West Virginia love trucks absolutely love trains if you’re ever up this way man stop by we would love to give you a show of West Virginia railroading
the BNSF line you were filming might be an ABS track warrant controlled line. The way ABS works is it doesn't light up until the train is in that block and once it is out of it, the signal goes dark until the next train gets near the block where it will flash a red signal if the train ahead is not far enough ahead several blocks to give it permission to proceed. Where I live here in Southeast Texas has alot of ABS track warrant controlled subs. The Lufkin Sub you were along used to be dark territory once upon a time until a major head on collision at Shepard Texas where the engineer and a brakeman were killed changed the entire line to ABS.
Far as I know the Amtrak trains run on the same rails as the freight trains. We don't have high-speed rails set aside like the French TGV or the Japanese Shinkansen. We don't really use trains for long distance travel, it's usually drive or fly.

The cotton belt box car on that one train was a bute. Also liked seeing the southern pacific cars and the cream bnsf loco in the distance

🚂the mixed freight express
All of those wind turbines at the beginning looked like the ones near Roscoe, TX. near I-20. Since you mentioned Abilene, they may have been.
5 locos on the head of first train,

In the daytime it's hard to see that flashing red light on the FRED at the end of the train.

Steve if UP brings Big Boy back out or their big 844 Northern, will you get out and chase it?
