Thank you for visiting us during our 1st Trains, Trucks and More with everyone. It was nice meeting you and talking with you in the office. Thank You for bringing your truck and the wonderful old Fire Engine. As you can tell we are really proud of our little railroad. We hope to see you next year for our 2023 Trains, Trucks and More.
Love these old diesels!
Thanks for coming out Steve it was great having you here. Next time we'll get you sweating putting in some ties, not just from the heat. 😀 -Kerry
That's pretty cool my wife's Grandpa and my Grandpa loved old train's. Andi remember riding old one's with them growing up so does my wife.
When i was on the Air Force at March AirForce base we had a v16 cat twin turbo .it was a generator that powered a 5 story hospatal .
I’ve rode behind this locomotive
This was the engine my dad drove at Union Carbide Welland Ontario
Love seeing engines in Western Maryland Fireball! A steam era scheme they continued over to their diesels. There’s only one steam engine running that wears it; 1309 at the WMSR, and she is quite the thing to behold.
👍👍👍 thank you Steve and Family, and SMR Crew. This was really a nice Fan day on FSC Railroad, enjoyed it, Thanks everyone.
Thanks, I REALLY loved it as Industrial locomotives are my favorites, also underground mining locomotives too, as I worked 43 years as a underground miner in Timmins ON, Canada. I can't wait for the next video, THANKS!
Great video! The second 44 tonner is one of the oldest versions of that locomotive that GE introduced (the square vents in the hood doors are a give away). By the time the Caterpillar D17000's were being put into 44 tonners, they were rated for 175hp, gradually increasing to 190hp by the time they stopped being used. The 45 tonner has a pair of Cummins HBI600's, rated at 150hp.
My girlfriend a pilot car was working in Michigan earlier this year and myself as member of the darkside ( flatbeder) got a load so I could spend a weekend with her. She booked an Airbnb in Tecumseh where we if the train ran I could almost jumped out the window on the train. Of course also being a trucker railfan I would've been chasing it.
Your you tube channels are old school cool .denis from santa rosa ca .
Now that was totally 💯 intriguing, can’t wait for the next adventure
Good video Steve, I'm from South River NJ and watch the trains go by in Helmetta by the old snuff mill.
Great video big guy. The chance to just hang out with the experts and hear them share knowledge is priceless.
I drove Jimmy dump trucks when I was younger, one with V6-71/Fuller 13 gear, and the other a V6-53 Detroit/Allison 5 and 4 sticks
Good view from that engine,s and other stuff for the brake's and the elektra...
Great video Steve really enjoy the video on the older locomotives. Thanks for sharing looking forward to more videos stay safe Steve.
Wow these little locomotives are awesome! Great video and these know there stuff.
I'm a big fan of all trains but I think one of my favorites are the 44 ton'rs I've got a couple in my Lionel collection
Thank you for sharing your details video as great watching every time try great understand much work going into operation
I ran a gp9 detroit v 16
awesome
I hope you introduce the crew, I probably know 1-2, even though they're youngins
I wanna run it!
That's a great job on filming this and telling the story... thanks...
Yes, yes they are cranky. Especially when they're cold. Pain in the butt to bleed too.
Pretty cool! Can’t wait to see the next video 👍🏻
Will the white and purple locomotive ever run again?
The Sperry Rail cars use 3406 Cat diesels in them for main power and 3412 to run the test equipment
I thought those came with two Cummins HBI-600 or 855NTC
Get a hold of Fab Rats TH-cam he should be able to come up with a fix for that radiator
So these actually use diesel engines to operate no generators involved
Not quite, the diesel motors are used to spin big generators to power the 4 traction motors on the axels. Just another GE Diesel-Electric Switcher, built for an early adopter of diesel electric locomotives; the Western Maryland Railway.
The two 44 tonners and the 45 tonner are diesel electric(have generators) the GMDH-3 (the blue engine) has what is known as a diesel hydraulic transmission. In truth it is closer to an automatic transmission in your car but on a much larger scale.
