    Disclaimer : Because of some sound issues at mid-time, due to many « manipulations » I had to do for this video, I was obliged to cut the first video at 31:40 & record a new one for the second part, so here you will find only the English & French whiskies I have selected, while you will find the other whiskies (all Scottish) in Part 2 Video next week end if all is well, again sorry about that.

    Thanks for this very nice look into what is going on in France at the moment!
    What you describe sounds like really amazing developments in France!
    Looking forwart to Part 2 - which will probably be more Scotch-centered.
    Nice idea to just give a short overview over new interesting stuff in the collection!

      Thanks, I've only scratched the surface there & French whisky is not the main theme even if in this part 1 or 2 there are 4/5 whiskies that are French. I've check out & I can say I have 50 French whiskies in my collection (that can seem a lot but there are 13 from the same distillery, NORTHMAEN, as I worked with them to create a whisky so I counted the SFTC bottle samples in...), coming from 13 different distilleries, while there are around 130 ones operating now & probably around 80 with a finished 3 yo product, so I'm far from having tasted them all, even not the half....Yes part 2 is 100 % Scotch oriented & (spoiler) a lot of Islay whiskies in there 😉 but not only...Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated...There will certainly be a "Winter/End of year" episod like this...Cheers !

    Excellent Video. I can't belive how more French whisky there is besides Amorik. I need to do some more exploring. I will try too look up some of these offerings.

      Hi, thanks a lot ! Yes there is a boom in French whisky since a few years, and (spoiler) I will do a big update on that topic after this fall's series of big shows in Paris, partly about French whisky...Meanwhile, if you wanna learn more about what's going on here, maybe you can watch this 2 videos, the first one being a bilingual introduction to French whisky called "250 € to START A FRENCH WHISKY COLLECTION Challenge, 2 (in English & en Français)" and this second one called "WHISKY OF THE YEAR 2020 (The Almost Impossible Quest for the…) " in which you're going to see how French whisky did "disturb" my 2020 Awards to finally hit the headlines within my Top 5 whiskies of the year ! Cheers !

    I have yet to try the Filey Bay although I hear mixed things. So many new distilleries are coming up and even more in local markets. I've had a few French whiskies but none blew me away I'm sad to say.

      I think this is a distillery worth looking as the spirit gets older too, but true, too many new stuff currently....French whisky wise, the choice is now so big I believe there is something for everyone, but not necessarily something available in anyone's country...Can I ask you which were those you tried ?

      Oh Greg years ago I tried an Armorik I think it was Breton and I hated it. More recently I tried Eddu Brocende and Lothaire Tourbe and they were ok. Now that I remember I tried Armorik Yeun Elez Jobic and I actually quite enjoyed that so I guess you're right, there's something for everyone :))) @@GregsWhiskyGuide

      @@thewhiskyenthusiast oh...Eddu Brocéliande is something showcasing Brittany new oak, on top of their very unique style (it's a buckwheat whisky, don't know if you are aware of that, so a specific bit green profile, it took a while for me to enjoy my bottle too tbh) but there are a lot of different styles now, and I will do a video in English soon to explain that...I'm trying to gather a few more French ones before that....Also recently uncorked 5 bottles (all gifts) from another distillery from this time East of France & they're all from good to great & completely different than those, so stay tuned !

      @@GregsWhiskyGuide Yeah I do know that it's buckwheat whisky and maybe it's not fair for me to compare it to the single malts but I did not enjoy the profile. I like trying new things so I will always look out for these types of whiskies. Thanks for the information Greg 🥃

      No problem @@thewhiskyenthusiast hope you'll have more choice in the future about our productions...Some big companies are on play there (for instance those involved in Cognac but now getting into whisky too) so I guess distribution of those at least should be more important soon...For the more boutiquey ones it'll be more difficult.

    Fascinating to learn of the Artesia and Filey Bay whiskies. Sadly, it may be some years before they appear in Japan. Amorik 10, however, is available, so I'll give that a try.

    • @GregsWhiskyGuide
      @GregsWhiskyGuide  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot, Alan, forgot you were in Japan....Filey Bay should be easier to get there soon rather than that smaller distillery French one, but you'll never know...Armorik 10 ? nice option, but completely different, more oak & spices forward...not the kinda profile I'm looking for these days...but if you can find an old bottle (say circa 2012) bottle of their 'Classic", go for it, its a treat...Cheers !

    Great to see so many new bottles of French whiskies being added to your collection. Awesome stuff Greg!

      @GregsWhiskyGuide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Matt, hope you'll be able to try them some day, and more of that will be coming this year I'm sure, and...(pre-spoiler) hopefully an other collab work this year, working for it, but it's too soon to mention anything...Cheers, and...wait for Part 2 of this video (normally uploaded next Sunday) in which you will see (full spoiler this time) some "familar" bottles I'm sure you do have, at least for 3 of them, in your collection...😉
