Hey Greg, very glad for the introduction to french Whisky. Had a stunning experience at warenghem and also a good time at the Glann ar Mor (unfortunately no tour possible) the last week. Looking forward to vistit and try other french Distilleries/Whiskys
Hey Greg, thanks for your efforts in introducing us to the world of French whisky. Those are some beautiful bottle designs! As with the first video, I have not had or heard of most of them. I have tried the Eddu though and you're absolutely right it is funky and challenging. I only tried a 3cl but I personally didn't like it. I'm very happy to try these new whiskies even if I don't necessarily enjoy them. I've tried a couple of Armoriks and I did not enjoy them but this 10 year old sounds delicious and especially if you've compared it to the Glenlivet 18!!! Cheers Greg 🥃
Thanks Sertug, no problem as "color & tastes vary" (i mean it is very personal, we can't all love the same things always). Armorik brand wise, they have several styles within the distillery house style, which has also changed over the years, so maybe the most Scottish of them (represented nowadays by the 10 yo & the 15 yo as well, even if less "crowd pleaser" & more "connoisseur pleaser"), but the thing is that there are so many different styles of French whisky (like I said in the videos more than I everf experienced in 25 years) that I guess "everyone can find the right shoe for them", the problem being mostly availability & sometimes price, but more & more brands can be found now especially in some UK's on line shops (TWE, MoM, etc). Cheers ! / Besides a question, I recently found by chance & bought (so future reviews to do for me !) 2 Armenian single malt whiskies & heard of Turkey's Ankara whisky, but are they other distilleries making whisky in Turkey nowadays ?
@@GregsWhiskyGuide Yes Greg there was an Ankara whisky but not anymore. This is a sore subject for us whisky loving Turks as Ankara whisky was formed in 1964! Unfortunately when the new (current) government came to power, they sold the distillery and the rights of any state owned alcohol producing brand to Diageo, who stripped the distillery and ceased production. It was never an amazing whisky but if it survived it would've been one of the oldest distilleries in the new world with potential 30 40 year old releases! The custom made copper pot stills are now at the Virginia Distillery making American Single Malt and what remaining unopened bottles there are, are selling for ridiculous prices.
@@thewhiskyenthusiast Thanks for all these informations, I understand it is a sensitive topic, I'm glad they didn't ban completely alcohol though, at least "yet"...I also use this occasion to thank you for the cool dialog we have despite all the hyper sensitive questions for both of us regarding our origins, and I believe the whisky is probably the "strongest" drink capable to do that, unite people beyond their differences & history, but I have to extend that to food in general, to love & to music too, at least it is my modest observations. Cheers !
@@GregsWhiskyGuide Your observations are right for me as well. I love how at the end of a whisky sharing night nothing but the friendship and love of the juice matters. Here's to whisky, here's to having different opinions and respecting each other!
