Disclaimer : Apologies to the viewer & to the distillery, as it was my mistake during the video to consider it was a full matured sherry, while it is double-matured (Bourbon for 10 years, then Sherry for, at least 5 years)...I completely forgot during the video, for some reason...the whisky's color, I guess...
Hi Jorg, Leon did a great job on his new English speaking channel about French whiskies indeed ! Then you'll visit before me, as weird as it can sound, enjoy ! (I haven't had the chance to visit Brittany distilleries yet unfortunately), Cheers !
I really like Armorik, the few I got to try were all very decent. Super informative and thorough video Greg (comme d'habitude, quoi? ;-) ) and now looking forward even more to my sample of this 15 yo.
Thanks, hope you'll like it...I'll try to get me the 10 yo of 2023 as well asap (based on one try, it appeared to me more rounded than the previous release apparently, as it has for the first time some PX casks in the mix, mind you), Santé cher ami ! 🥃
Excellent review, Greg. Sounds like an interesting (to put it mildly) expression. The one available in the Danish market is the green(ish) 2022 bottling, but I'll definitely keep my eyes open for this one. Cheers!
Thanks, Ben ! The 2022 is nice, but a bit frustrating, at least at first & only try (so to be taken with reservations, but every whisky lover/reviewer I know here who tried it agrees about the 2023 being superior, deeper to the 2022). Cheers !
Hey Greg, thx for the shoutout and glad you liked the 15 yo. I got it from customer as a present and I am super happy with it. I am even considering buying one or two bottles for safekeeping. I think it is an amazing price point for European Whisky of that age.
You're welcome & thanks for watching, and totally agree with you, I'm a around 60 cl & really start to consider I'll miss a second one especially because I wanna make a lot of people try it but as I have no patreon, I've already a long list of "must buy" before, starting by "a certain bottle from a certain other French distillery" (if you're seen my previous video you'll get the picture), then immediately before, I need to get me several Millstone, so spectacular stuff, some Stauning too, etc, etc, we're lost, lol...As you said, World whisky is coming on stronger & stronger...Cheers !
So much excellent information! I needed to see this, as I just picked up the Armorik 12, Sherry. I wish I had this, but now I know more about this distillery. Cheers!
Hi Jon, thanks for watching & for your support....12 yo ? I don't remember having tried it, gotta look into my archives, or is it a Canada exclusive/storepick, etc ? i wonder...Anyway you'll probably like that 15 yo...don't know about Canadian distribution of Armorik, I knew they had a distributor in the USA but not sure, now that said, I remember that Andy (Foodquig) could find some expressions in the past in BC, so maybe ask him ? Cheers !
@@GregsWhiskyGuideThanks for the detailed response. My mistake though. It is just a Sherry Cask. Actually non age statement, but natural colour and non-chill
Thanks my friend, usually it is every 2 weeks because it demands quite some work prior to the recording & then a very long compression & upload time for me, etc... but I intend to get back to more regularity, indeed, as much as I can...Cheers !
Allons enfants de la patriiiiiiie! Aqvavitae's first whisky six nations' winner! (Trying to find comfort now that the real trophy's out of reach and heading for Ireland once again)
Hi Greg, interesting video on Armorik whisky, after watching the vPub last week I’ll be after the 10 year old, sounds pretty good and for €56 It’s not a bad price either. Slàinte Greg.🥃
Thanks, David, I only tried the new 10 yo once but I really loved it, again bit more than last year's one so there is a real work on trying to bring the best of their warehouses it seems...Cheers ! (56 € is a great price as it is 69 € + here !)
Hi Scott, thanks for watching, indeed i didn't say it was bad, but I feel this is better...(note that for some fidelity distillery club, i know some people who managed to get them a bottle of the 2022 Cask strength version of the 15 yo & they said it was 10 times better than the 16 yo one, I don't know...it was super limited though...Besides, about EDDU, the manager told me he was in Chicago last July, "too bad I didn't know about Scott's interest he said, we'd meet otherwise"...He also told me you can find their whiskies in New York & in New Jersey's shops, and also that their official US importer will change soon (DM me) but let me know when you'll find some....I suggest you try to get you an EDDU "Brocéliande", the most "terroir" of it all (I reviewed it twice) as it is both of course buckwheat but also oak from the Brocéliande forest, and, as you're a very cultured person, i'm sure you get the picture, symbolically too... Cheers !
@@GregsWhiskyGuide Australia has two stores with the 15 YO: one has a white box with green print, the other has a light brown box with green print. Would the cask blend be the same as your blue print version? BTW: I have a bottle of the 10 Ans and love it.
@@hordeum-vulgare hard to tell due to lack of same transparency we have for this one, all I've found for now is that there is one year less in bourbon casks & 1 year more in sherry in the green label compared to the blue...Nice pick this year's 10 yo too !
