My adapter isn't being seen by my phone or my old phone. I've had this thing for 2 years and can't use it because the adapter doesn't go into pairing mode and there's no button to push to do so.
Are you using an android or iPhone?
Will this device cause a battery drain if left plugged in while vehicle is turned off?
It will not
after 1,5 year BAFX OBD II doenst work. cannot pair it..... had a try to three android devices..... and three different cars.

Shouldn't have to, Bluetooth doesn't require internet.

When you go to install Torque Lite you have to give full access to your phone. Why do they need access to my email and photos?
