    Nice video! Good to mention that Torque also has some preset profiles which are very handy. For the prius for instance it has mapping for each individual battery pack and other sensors which are only used in hybrids.

    I love the ***idea*** of Torque. If I could just get it to connect, that'd be great - but it *WON'T.* Not about to shamble my way through buying up one adapter after another in a fruitless attempt to find one that connects. Stopping at two, thanx ever so much. This has the exact flavor of trying to get printers/dialup to work in linux, back in the day. Finally succeeded, but only after much purchasing & hair tearing. I soon went back to microSITH. Color me unimpressed. Gonna keep looking.

      I understand... sometimes this stuff can be frustrating as there are multiple moving parts.
      It could be your phone not liking a wifi connection without internet, your car might not be OBD certified (check for sticker under hood), the OBD device might be bad, or a combination of those items.
      I have always had good luck with OBDFusion, so that my be an option for you.

    • @OBD4Everyone
      @OBD4Everyone  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey ruknani,
      With the typical ELM327 and Torque Pro (or any inexpensive app) there is no way to change the idle speed. OBD-2 is read only.
      What is the speed of your idle and why do you want to lower it?

      I have daihatsu mira cocoa 660cc model 2014.
      At the start of the engine the gauge shows 1200 RPMs. During drive the RPMs I get about 900 to 1000 on idle position.
      Thanks

    • @OBD4Everyone
      @OBD4Everyone  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey ruknani,
      I am not familiar with that car... but generally small engines (like 660cc) typically idle around 900 to 1,000 RPM when warmed up. (based on my experience with 600 and 750cc motorcycle engines.)

      Hey Cheryl DeVore,
      Yes it can! BUT you need an OBD program to manage the data communication between the PC and the OBD scanner.
      Here are someone that I have used:
      • www.obdsoftware.net/software/touchscan
      • glmsoftware.com/Purchase.aspx

    Hi there. Thanks for taking your time to show how to setup up torque on wifi.
    I have my Torque setup through WIFI on my android. all is working great, but when i want to connect to the internet, lets say i want to download usermade themes and other things, it wont connect to the internet.
    Iam using my iphone to connect my android to the internet throug wifi. My android is a car android screen with GPS, music etc etc. I swaped it out for my old navigation, to get some newer features from android into my car. It all works great, and when i need to connect to other things that need internet connection, like gps or other app, i connect through wifi on my iphone, i made a shared internet connection on it. It works great
    But since torgue also uses wifi, i cant use my wifi on my iphone. is there a how to do, to get it to connect to the internet, using my iphone. iam thinking i will have the same problem all over again, if i switch to bluetooth, since i think torque cant use both things. So how would i get updates or new skins / themes for my torque. Or would it use my android wifi through my iphone to connect to the internet.
    Yes iam asking alot here LOL :-) But iam a little lost here. I have tried all i can so far with the wifi connection.
    Hope you find the time to answer.
    Thanks

      Sorry, but I don't know the answer to your question.
      Generally my OBD scanner is only plugged in when I am running a diagnostic report or logging data and I don't have any need for internet access.
      I quick google search on "android wi-fi and LTE networks" showed this: geeknizer.com/combine-3g-4g-mobile-data-wifi-speed/
      Maybe that will help?

      Hey Jose Gutierrez,
      I really can't say... does your truck have a "manifold absolute pressure" sensor? (MAP)
      If you do, you could try monitoring the "absolute manifold pressure" sensor and see if it shows boost.

    Sir can you pls help me with th3 delay is gauges response , if i rev the the rev gauge react 0.5 late. Kindly confirm

    • @OBD4Everyone
      @OBD4Everyone  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Salman Iftikhar,
      The most likely cause of gauges that are slow to respond is the protocol that your car's network uses.
      To check which protocol your car uses:
      (1) Start Torque Pro and connect to your car
      (2) Touch "Adapter Status"
      (3) Move down the page an look for "OBD Protocol" and there it is.
      Some protocols are fast, like the ISO15765-4 CAN11/500 which runs at 500,000 bits per second and some are slow, like the ISO 9141-2 which runs at 10,000 bits per second.
      For the slower protocols, if you reduce the number of PIDs you should have a quicker response.
      To see the overall speed of your car's network and OBD scanner, in the Adapter Status section look under "Adapter PID read speed" to see how many PIDs can be read every second.
      The other thing that can speed up the gauge response is a faster OBD scanner.
      The next episode of OBD4Everyone I will show the results of a 12 OBD scanner speed test on a ISO15765-4 CAN11/500 network. (This is the mandatory protocol for all cars made for North America and Europe from about 2008 and up)

    Question, my ELM327 arrived in ADHOC mode (stupid) for 6 years i would use it searching non stop for an STN or Infrastructre mode or Version of the product, one day i decided to see if port 80 is open , it was (HTTP GUI), i switched it to Station mode, i entered SSD, Encryption (WPA2PSK CCMP) and the key ( even kept a screen shot) the ELM327 connects a few seconds to the AP and disconnects. I made sure the AP is set to the same Encryption type, and key... I even set a static/Fixed in the ELM327 .. Any tips? The unit is close to AP, tried many APs, legacy, wrt54g, dd-wrt. different channels. no go . tHANK YOU IN ADVANCE

    • @OBD4Everyone
      @OBD4Everyone  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey ewelve01,
      If I understand your question correctly, you just need to drive the car until the check engine light returns and then CAREFULLY read the code(s).
      Some ECU store "permanent" codes that are only cleared when the problem is fixed. They can not be erased.
      Maybe try to read the codes again or see if the freeze frame has something.
      Good luck!

    • @OBD4Everyone
      @OBD4Everyone  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Протић,
      From the testing I have done (see below) the type of connection (bluetooth / wifi) doesn't seem to have a big impact on the speed.
      The speed of the OBD scanner is mostly due to the vehicle network protocol, speed and the quality of the OBD chip. (actually, the size of the internal buffer)
      For example the OBD CAN protocol typically runs at 500,000 bits/second and ISO 9141 protocol runs at 12,500 bits per/second.
      For me, I do like using bluetooth LE, as it allows a cell data connection while the scanner is connected. With wifi, you can only be connected to one data source, either WIFI or cellular.
      My current favourite OBD scanner is the OBDLink MX+

    • @OBD4Everyone
      @OBD4Everyone  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Joko Prasetiyo,
      It depends on the year on the car and what market it was designed for.
      OBD II products work with vehicles (including hybrids) sold in the United States in or after 1996. Vehicles in other regions that are OBD II / EOBD / JOBD may also be supported (Canada - 1998, European Union - 2001 (gas), 2004 (diesel), Australia - 2006 (gas), 2007 (diesel), etc.)
      Normally there is a sticker somewhere on the car that will show which OBD standard the car is certified to work with. (Normally under the hood)

      Под капотом должна быть наклейка с надписью «Сертификат OBD-II» или что-то в этом роде.

      hello my obd2 works very slow and the wifi connection drops all the time, can you help me???
      The speed of the sensor update is mostly determined by the protocol your engine computer uses. ISO 9141 is about 12,500 bits per second and CAN Bus is 500,000 bits/second. Maybe you are getting the fastest your engine computer can provide...
      As for the wifi dropping, that sounds like an wifi OBD scanner issue or maybe interference. The only time I had a wifi OBD scanner loose the connection was due to a bad wifi OBD scanner.
      Google translate to Portuguese:
      A velocidade de atualização do sensor é determinada principalmente pelo protocolo que o computador do motor usa. ISO 9141 é de cerca de 12.500 bits por segundo e CAN Bus é de 500.000 bits / segundo. Talvez você esteja obtendo o mais rápido que seu computador de motor pode fornecer ...
      Quanto à queda do wi-fi, isso soa como um problema de scanner OBD wi-fi ou talvez interferência. A única vez que eu tive um scanner OBD wi-fi perdendo a conexão foi devido a um scanner OBD wi-fi ruim.

      A flashing "car" in Torque Pro usually means that it can't communicate with the engine control module. (ECM)
      If you look under the hood, check the engine label (usually on the underside of the hood, or by the rad cover) and see if it says "OBD II" certified. If not, Torque Pro or any other OBD device won't work.
      Also, in some markets outside of North America and Europe, the OBD communication is locked and only the dealer can get access.
      What is the year, make and model of the car?

      @@OBD4Everyone hi yes the engine is running and I'll double check under the hood but it's a seat ibiza 1.6 2009 model

      I think it is OBD 2 compliant, based on this:

      Does the OBD scanner work on other cars?

    Is WiFi better than Bluetooth?

    • @OBD4Everyone
      @OBD4Everyone  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question!
      From what I have seen, WIFI can be faster, for 2008+ vehicles that use CAN Bus, but then your phone doesn't have access to cell data :(
      Bluetooth does allow cell data while being connected to your car, but it might be a little slower.
      Now, for cars from about 2016+, they have a OBD gateway and seem to greatly show the speed of OBD data requests.
      For me, I use the BLE (Bluetooth low energy) devices, as I like to stream music while driving my car.

    I am facing lag in gagues

      Hey Salman Iftikhar,
      Can you please tell me the protocol your car uses?
      If it uses a slower protocol, a faster OBD scanner won't make any difference.
      Please tell me what is shown
      To check which protocol your car uses:

    Just tried Torque Lite and almost send my OBD2 gadget back for refund, because it was like 3-10 sec delay from OBD2 sensor. Then tried app called "OBD Scanner" and I see all is good, no delay. If Torque Lite its so rubbish app, Im not even thinking about Torque Pro. Certainly will go for OBD Scanne Pro. So angry that this Torque app misleading people to think that something wrong with OBD2 sensor...

      Hey Audrius A,
      That's interesting. As you can imagine some OBD scanners work better with different apps.
      I tried to find the app "OBD Scanner" in Google Play, but couldn't find it.
      Where did you download it from? I would like to have a look at it.
