    2003- My friend and I were on a dock late at night and we pointed a flash light into puget sound and a bunch of polychaete worms came up! We didn’t know what they were so thanks for making this beautiful video!

      There are so many species of worms in our waters! They aren't even all identified in ID books! Glad you enjoyed the video :)

    I have often heard the Pacific Pacific Northwest has very colourful and interesting underwater life. It was wonderful to see it for the first time.

      Hi there! There are two dive shops in town that regularly offer open water courses (with drysuit certification included) - Nanaimo Dive Outfitters, and Sink or Swim. If you give them a call, they will let you know prices and how to sign up! I hope you and your daughter can get certified, because the diving around here is incredible! Cheers!

      Most of this footage was filmed with a gopro 8, but I have since upgraded the the gopro 11. If you plan on diving in cold water, or deep, it's important to have some good video lights as well.

    Wow, lots of stuff you don't see if any of in dive videos. I appreciate the IDs. Nice work! I listened to enough of the narration to know that it is informative, but the background music forced me to turnoff sound :( I've never found back background music behind, or in this care, over narration, to be helpful.

    Do you have any favourite dive sites? And recommended dive shops?

    • @scubamax
      @scubamax  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends where you are on the island. In Victoria, there is the Ogden Point breakwater. In Nanaimo there are some awesome boat dives including 3 shipwrecks (Rivtow, Saskatchewan, and Cape Breton), Snake Island wall, and Clark Rock. In Nanoose, there is Madrona (big and small wall), Oak Leaf, Wallbeach, Tyee, and Dolphin. In Port Alberni, there is the migrant shipwreck at China Creek and a wall. And of course, there is some excellent boat diving in Barkley Sound through Rendezvous Dive Adventures, Campbell River through Abyssal Diving Charters, and a few companies up north island. As for dive shops in Nanaimo, there is Nanaimo Dive Outfitters, Sink or Swim, and Sundown Diving.

    • @scubamax
      @scubamax  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This footage is a compilation from shallow dives all the way down to 110 feet. I mostly dive around Nanaimo, Nanoose Bay, Port Alberni, and Campbell River.

      Yes, I am a scuba diver. When I dive in Canada, I wear a drysuit with dry gloves, neoprene hood, boots, fins, dive mask, scuba tank, BCD, and regulator. Breathing underwater takes a while to get use to but once you start feeling comfortable, it's an incredibly peaceful feeling :)
