      I'd never seen him before, I just went and watched one of his videos, seems like a good guy to me. He understand it makes it more fun to work if you think you're showing some other people how cool the item is you're working on.... when i'm working on them i'm usually thinking that the machine i'm working on is the star of the video, not me, and that's what gets people interested in the videos....

    Last year I bought a Rockola 496 for a good price as it wasn't working. I'm good with electronics and mechanics but after a while and very little progress, I was lucky to find a guy who worked for Rockola in the 80's and knew these machines inside and out. Computer was shot and he fixed it. Machine at least came to life after that but it had trouble counting records. Turned out the power supply also had an issue and he fixed that as well. Now I have a great working machine. Glad it didn't go to the landfill.

      Those are cool boxes too, some of the last of their kind. It's kind of sad if you followed the Rock-Olas, they were all numbered in the 400's and they got all the way up to 498 then moved onto CD's!

      that lowercase "u" is actually suppose to be the Greek letter "mu" or "µ". The reason people use the letter "u" instead is because it the closes looking letter to mu and it can be typed on an ordinary keyboard. If you look at some older tube schematics. You might see things like MFD for MicroFaraD or even weirder ones like MMF, which stands for Micro-micro Farad, or NanoFarad. BTW: If your wondering how I was able to type the letter mu. Just press and hold down the key and while holding it down, type 230 on you numeric keypad (You must use the numeric keypad on the side of your keyboard. The number keys on the top won't work.) and once you release the key. it type mu "µ".

    I just acquired a Rock-Ola converted cabinet that I think was a Jump Bug, but these have very similar, if not the same power supplies. Aaron, the guy that made the Bitkit was telling me that, which is very cool to see inside a cabinet. That and a 10lb isolation transformer sitting on top. Still haven't gotten to test it to see if it works

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But I use the wrong type of solder! And I 'could do a better job'.... and they can't see very well from that angle. And the best way to do it is blah blah blah... and I don't clean the flux right. And this is the best way to clean the flux. And that's too high of a temperature. And I didn't tin the tip right. And I'm not using the solder sucker right. And the solder's too thin. And the solder's too thick. And that's too low of a temperature.
      And then the second guy replies, and he says....
