    I think it’s Dana that said “there’s a charisma to your timing/pausing.” That is such a spot-on observation. Nate’s timing feels like a everyman conversation. I’ve seen him live three times. His self-deprecating pacing controls the room.

    David & Dana! This interview was AMAZING! You both were so kind & supportive & encouraging to Nate! Your questions & comments showed how truly interested you were in his SNL experience. You let Nate be Nate. Once in a while we could hear that appreciative chuckle he has when he’s around pro comedians starting to riff - but you didn’t go too far. (You both are incredibly funny, so we missed out on some potential greatness, but it seemed like you kept it tight bc you didn’t want to steal Nate’s glory.)

    I'm a huge SNL fan. I've watched SNL since the the show's first year. When I heard that Nate Bargatze was going to host, my first thought was , "who the hell is Nate Bargatze?" Regardless, I was very intrigued that someone I didn't know was going to host SNL. So, I was actually excited to see the show. (BTW, Christopher Walken was a great addition to the show. He set the stage.) When Nate came out, I was delighted he was so good. Nate is so easy to watch. I loved his performance. He's going to be hot. • @heynowwoo
    @heynowwoo 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Yes, as Bargatze commented, people miss good old general comedy movies like The Wrong Missy now, that's why it was so big. Most things now, including comedies, have a "message" or lecture the audience on what kind of people we're "supposed to" be and people are sick of it. We just want to laugh not be told why we can/can't laugh at this or that. The Wrong Missy was great because it was just funny--it was no lessons, just let us decide and laugh for ourselves.

    5:45. That’s the problem with just about every comic these days. Specials are generally AWFUL anymore. Like Chris Rock said…they used to actually be special. Now they’re barfed out every 6 months. Stands up really start grasping at straws for material. It’s especially painful when the comic wasn’t great to start. The last handful of specials I tried to watch included a hacky bit about standing in line for coffee when something apparently whacky happens.
    That being said, I love Nate. He’s a naturally funny dude
