Is it just me or was Dana calling Seth Zeth? Never heard the name Zeth before but it sounds futuristic.

Dana says "So Zeth" because he's still voicing the "o" sound from "so" while saying the 's' of Seth. Voicing that first letter makes it Zeth. "So Seth" is a little tricky unless you're being really careful.

When I think of the funniest performers on SNL and late night TV, I don't always think of Seth Myers but I also don't know which sketches he wrote. With that said, I like the day drinking game on his show and the closer look segments on his late show. He has an interesting SNL/30 Rock story of finally finding his place as a writer. Anytime an alum from SNL's history is on this podcast, I listen to it as soon as I wake up on Wednesdays. And with those alum (from any era), it always sounds like Dana Carvey and David Spade are longtime friends with these types of guests because of their shared experiences on SNL. It really sounded like a meat grinder.
Seth Meyers being head writer resulted in declining ratings every year he was in that position. It was a sustained failure which he should have been removed after the first season but he inexplicably stayed (*Lorne Michaels*). Then he got a talk show that he didn't deserve and he failed at that (*Lorne Michaels*) That should tell you all you need to know without knowing what he wrote.

Please interview SNL band leader sax great Lenny Pickett. He’s been there probably the longest of anybody besides Lorne. Can you imagine the stories and things he has seen!
Plus, Dana is such a music nerd the show would be awesome.
👍 There are a lot of folks from the music department that would probably be fantastic guests. I imagine there are many from the production staff in general that would have great memories of the years they were there that we likely would love to hear.

You know Seth is a true inspiration. If you think about it he's had a decades long career in comedy and literally has never been funny, and still isn't. It's cool cause it's like it's really true that you can do anything you set your mind to, regardless of talent/money/anything.

Best part of this podcast is when David Spade said, “Oh you’re from Queens? I come from normal parents…” and the guest didn’t laugh. Seth Myers is supposedly straight but sounds and acts like Paul Lynde.
