Everything she did was 100%. She jumped off the deep end with every character. One of the best to ever grace that stage. Her "QVC host audition tapes" sketch is as classic and hysterical as they come...
So happy to see her on here.. lot of cast members were really funny but limited in range. She could play so many different types of characters and she was always hilarious.. and her accents were superb..
Bringing SNL to us sounds painfully involved. What we see is joyfully easy to watch. Thanks for the (hard) labor. We so need each of you during and after your time there.
One of my all time favorites from SNL and hopefully she is rewarded with great movies now that she left, she is far too great to be doing a Verizon commercials series. Thanks for having her on this awesome podcast!
I know it's weird to be in love with someone you don't know but, my god she is just the best, finest, most talented woman ever. Her Lorne impression was tops on originality and humor.
So many incredibly talented people from SNL, but for me Cecily was the most talented all-around performer SNL ever had. She was the anchor of every sketch. She can go drama, accents, comedy, timing, character work, and also has incredible singing voice. She should be an A-list actor in movies.
That’s so crazy lmaooo. Cecile Strong who’s most famous sketches involve her being serious and making a social point with no comedy involved is more talented than Farley, Sandler, Will Ferrel, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock or Louis C.K. Hahahahhahaa so far since she’s left she’s booked a t mobile commercial with Seth Myers and that’s it! Hahahahahahhaah
Sorry just had to come back to this ridiculous comment…..Mike Myers, David Spade, Dana Carvey, Chevy Chase, John Candy, Phil Hartman, JOHN BE-fuckin-LUSHI…… all take a backseat to Cecile Strong in the TALENT department lmaoooo. Well isn’t that special
This was an educational episode! The reason I'm stating this is because Cecily went over how she started and it shows it's not as easy as it seems. Still have to put the work in no matter how talented you are. I still live in the area of CHS ( where Dana went to HS) and recall I had a friend that was hilarious and had the odd look of a comedian to boot! We both took the same English class as Dana did with the same teacher. Anyway, when I heard my friend was trying standup, I thought it was just a matter of time. Eventually he moved to LA and I saw him on TV as an extra on "3rd Rock from the Sun" a sitcom in the late 90s. Since that episode he did standup here and there but didn't make it. It's mentioned in this episode and previous episodes where when people are starting out and they are exposed to working with talent that made it and proven themselves it does provide a boost of confidence/motivation to keep striving to make it to their level - it rubs on them. Maybe that's what my friend needed? Also, the phrase: "Persistence Pays Off" is very true in this case. Although the entertainment business is exponentially tougher! - I can't imagine!
She is incredibly talented. I originally just thought she was funny and cute, but she's like, really talented. She can sing, and she's just very versatile in general. She, unlike some SNL actors started in theatre, rather than just comedy. You really see what she can do in 'Schmigadoon!'
In the beginning of the interview she throws David Spade one of the best compliments anyone will ever receive and he missed it. She said “ I actually have a picture of you and I and I ‘think’ Bradley Cooper…”. I’m just saying, when you are the one she remembers over you or Bradley Cooper say thanks. 😂

Too bad it wasn’t funny. If snl was a poignant show that’s supposed to move you that’d be badass. It’s a comedy show and that wasn’t funny at all. Like most of Cecily’s characters

Another embarrassing outing for Dana. Saying "I've got nothing," when you can't be bothered to care or prepare for an interview is so Fu#$& disrespectful, it's insane.
