    It may sound silly but what stands out to me the most in this video is at the beginning when you say, “...my life AFTER cancer”. When I was first diagnosed with lymphoma I searched frantically for a glimmer of hope, anything of proof that this would not be what ends my life (because I knew nothing of NHL and all I could hear was, “cancer”). I’ve commented on one of your videos before but seriously, these videos with you happy and living your life, having survived the hard times is really encouraging. So thanks again! 😊 I personally have not needed chemo yet as I am “watch and wait” at the moment but may someday and the thought of it truly scares me. I hope when/if that day comes I will handle it with the same great attitude that you have! 💚

    • @MelanieCamille

      You are too sweet! If/when that day come, just remember that it is survivable! Not fun of course, but survivable. It can only make you stronger in the end ❤️

    I will finish my 8th and final chemo a week from tomorrow. Due to C-19, all salons were closed so I had no one to shave my head. I cut my own hair because it was coming out everywhere. I still have some hair on my head and was never completely bald. I can't wait for it to grow back and I don't care what that is right now. I finished 4 A/C and 3 Taxol so far. One more Taxol to go. Yea, me! Can't wait to be done.

    I’m 18 months after chemo. It’s crazy curly. Was horrid snd frizzy. I’m leaving it alone for 6 more months. Then will get it cut. The chemo is leaving my body. I can see my hair looking more ‘normal’ and less like straw!
    Small price to pay for life

      @@svaught1 It will be a long wait. I don’t really wash my hair. Once every 2 weeks. And was told to use baby shampoo. I do use conditioner once a week. It’s long enough to have a pony tail. ( tail. More if a stump. 🤣🤣). Snd grips.
      I’ll just wait till it settles. As long as that is. Won’t have it cut until it does.
      Well done getting through it all Sheryl. Take it easy. Xxxxx

    I am with you......I am almost a year after my chemo and had 16 weeks of radiation (everyday) and now my hair is so curly especially in the back that I think I am excited to now have curly hair!!!! 😃 I did try straightening it (it's not that long) but it did go back to curly!!! It's getting longer but you can't tell because it is that curly!!!! 😂
    When I cut all my hair off when it started falling out my air hurt like the stubble!!!! (For 8 mos.) HURT! Everyone told me I should've pulled my hair out 😲!!! But I'm excited to see what my hair does now!!!

    Thanks for sharing this i was quite confuse why i now had curls 🤣 I had radiotherapy in my neck and part of my jaw in my left side due to parotid cancer. They told me no your hair will not fall out, but it did. I had 60 sessions so two months . Now a quarter of my head has curls but it is still very short and the rest of it is wavy as usual🤣

    • @MelanieCamille
      @MelanieCamille  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I shaved it because it was all falling out and it was getting messy. But if you don’t shave it, you could still have some very thin hair!
      It just depends on how strong the chemo is. Some chemo treatments don’t even make you lose hair!

    My mum always had very straight hair. After chemo (lymphoma), her hair became curly, but today--five years later---it is back to straight again. What fascinates me the most is that her hair before chemo was already grey (she is 60+), but the chemo reversed her hair colour to black.

    I am 2 years past my bilateral mastectomy from stg3 gd3 TNBC, on 11/4/2019 I only had a few fuzzies. Today 12/2021 I have lovely curly hair!! I too, spent my whole life with this beautiful straight silky hair, and I absolutely mourned the cutting of it, and then shaving it. It was traumatizing to me, but I completely LOVE my curls I could never obtain before! So I hope to keep mine too, for as long as possible! However I am thinking that since it can hold a curl now, that I could possibly perm it to get even more curls! I’m going to attempt to use a curling iron to see what occurs! I’ll let you know! Congrats on getting married and being in remission!

    I never lost my hair. The hair just has continued to grow, has gotten thick and curly. I was blonde and it has really gotten dark. The texture of my hair is now like African American hair. Has the texture of your curly hair changed significantly? I can't find any videos on how to care for a change of hair like this. I'm at a total loss. I have now switched to black hair care products as far as shampoo, conditioner and leave-in milk, but I don't know how to style it. Any direction would be appreciated.

    • @Stephbreez
      @Stephbreez 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! It got a little darker but alot coarser. It was easier to do when it was really short but now im at the point where its actually a pain to style and Unless I have gel or some kind of product in it it’s sticking out all over the place😊 so I have to keep it in clips. I tried straightening it but no use because it curls back up at the end by the end of the day🤷🏻‍♀️ Regardless, long or short, curly or straight, brown or green 😊im just happy i have hair again and most importantly a negative PET scan!! Wooo Hooo! 😘

I do love the idea of a curly hair but I do have a question. Did you cut your hair during the growing stage? Mine is really messy at the side and on my neck so I was wondering if I should cut it or just let it grow.

      It took a looong time before my hair started growing back. Through patience and prayer I finally saw peach fuzz. Many people develop alopecia due to chemo, but the good news is there are numerous remedies for it through science and technology so be sure to ask your doctor just in case.
