    I start my chemo next week. I know it is going to be a long and kinda unpleasant journey but i have to get through it to get out of it. Big shout to everyone here who has went through chemo and completed their process.

    I just finished the aggressive part of my chemo two weeks ago. My hair was to the middle of my back and it was my identity also. I’m looking forward to my hair growing back. It feels like it’s going to take forever since I’m so impatient. You are beautiful and I’m glad you’re doing well. ❤️

    Im 16 and was diagnosed with stage four hodgkins lymphoma in January.Because im techincally a child im exclusively given the stonger COPDAC and DECOPDAC treatment with made me lose my haire within the first two weeks of treatment.I had 23 inch thick wavy hair and it was a huge part of my identity and my beauty.
    Its been four months now and i have two months of treatment left - yet i still feel a little empty without my hair...It was a real security blanket and its hard to feel beautiful without it and a wig just doesnt quite do the job.Ive been hiding my diagnosis from everyone around me (including all of my college, some of my family and a lot of my friends) and have been wearing my wig all day everyday to pretend nothing has happened.I figure ill tell everyone once chemo finnishes, but till then im stuck lying to the faces of people i love and faking my confidence every day.
    I cant wait for the day i finally get my hair back and i especially vant wait for the day i feel normal again.
    Thank you for sharing this video - it gives me some hope that things will go slightly back to the way they were.Im saving it in the hopes that when im finally in remission i can re watch it and start my regrowth.

      Oh, this must be so hard for you. I lost almost all my hair also. It’s the pits! I understand you not wanting people to know about your cancer, but one of the blessings of sharing, which only do if you want to, is all the love, encouragement and good will that comes your way. After chemo, look into red light therapy helmets for your hair. They have been scientifically chosen to increase hair growth.
      Wishing you blessings and complete healing.

    I started to slowly lose my hair about 2 weeks after i started treatment. it got gradually worse every day and i came to a point where i was scared to take a shower because i thought all my hair would fall out. When i did take a shower i was losing alot of hair and I was like "okay this is it" and i shaved it off the next day to like 1mm. It was tough and scary but I was so glad I did it. The next day I took a shower again and I lost almost all of the remaining hair. Had this happened while I still had my long hair it would've been very traumatic (even more than it already was). So shaving my head was the best decision. So i can definitely second everything you're saying in this video. Losing your hair is an awful experience expecially for young women, so taking control over it before it takes control over you is absolutely the best thing you can do.

    I finished chemo in November last year. I knew that I would lose my hair because of the kind of chemo I was getting. I cut it short once it all came out in a blob. I had no hair at all by three weeks after my last chemo. My hair is back now but of course short. I want my Bob back. Losing my hair didn’t bother me. It was a small price to pay to get rid of any cancer left behind after surgery.

I also had HL stage four and received BEEACOP traitement. im so so sad,my hairs was my identity, I loved them so much and now they're thin. it makes me every single minute sad and so disappointed. im happy for you that you're healthy and that your hairs came back

    Firstly I LOVEEEEE your hair, it's gorgeous.
    Losing my hair fuckin sucked but I embraced it and shaved it after my first chemo, it was alright and I'm fortunate to have a nice head shape so I didn't mind... But losing my eyebrows and eyelashes on top of that was too much for me. Once I lost those I wasn't motivated to to makeup or take pictures of myself anymore (I'm a portrait photographer). I really don't feel like myself, I try not to look in the mirror as much as possible because I don't recognize myself or feel beautiful. I hate looking sick or like a patient, it makes me so self conscious what other people think of me when they see me.
    Also, it's funny that your hair grew back ashy, I'm a light light blonde blonde naturally and mine did too! I wonder if that's really common. I hated that.

    • @LaurenFirenzeGill
      @LaurenFirenzeGill  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I fully relate! Looking in the mirror wasn’t always easy but I kept reminding myself it was temporary and a reminder that if I can get through this I can get through anything :)

    I finished chemo in Sept 2019 so I'm just a few months behind you. I had my hair cut for the first time five months after finishing because I wanted to keep my hair short although I feel that in lockdown it's just been looking like a mop 😂 During treatment I chose to only wear head scarves or go bald because that was more comfortable for me but seeing you on instagram rock the bald and wigs last year made the path less scary for me. Thank you for sharing Lauren ♥️

    The Phillip Kingsley hair shampoo has an ingredient EDTA, which is typically used as a preservative.. it is also a cancer causing agent. Not a good product to use on anyone’s hair or skin.

    Your hair is gorgeous and very short. I finished chemotherapy in October 2020. Now I have barely a half inch (if that much) of regrowth in eight very long months. It is very ugly, way too soft, horrible color, and feels like fur. It is trash. If I stay in remission, I may be able to shampoo it in the fall of 2024. Over four years after chemotherapy, I may have an inch of soft, stubby, baby hair. Very important: Hair doesn’t always grow back. I am called a “dude” and “sir.” I am a complete freak and now a recluse. Please be grateful that it didn’t turn you into a bald freak like me. Yours is truly gorgeous, beautiful dark brown. Congratulations!
