  • We get time to pull the engine from the JCB 3C so it can be sent off for overhaul.
    There are several ways to remove an engine but this is what suited us at the time.

    maybe you know this, but when your putting the engine back in its possible to nip the seal in the pump in the bell housing with the drive tangs of the snout on the back of the torque convertor i did it on my 3cx had to pull it apart again oil everywhere,i herd after i had finished mine that you can hang the torque convertor and backplate on the pump in the bellhousing and work through the hole at the back of the bellhousing for putting the bolts into the flywheel,probably no harm to replace the seal in the pump in the bellhousing when your at it.

      Good old boy ! Thanks for the tip. We noticed it was similar to the early loadall type so guessed it could be an issue.
      Not a bad idea about doing the seal while its apart either.
      Thanks for watching and thanks for the advice !

    Your crane and correct lifting chains with a colleague to help made that job much easier than might have been the case that's for sure! It has left a big hole but that makes it much easier to clean and check out all the remaining bits as well.

    Thanks for another installment she's gonna be running good and strong after this, I did a mk2 years ago, it was unreal the power it gained on hills and pushing. When she goes back in are you changing the rubber engine mounts, mine are getting a bit floppy and need 1/2 a Viagra or something to stiffen them up L.O.L.
    There's loads of mounts on Ebay but part no's don't match up in my book, maybe they cross over to newer ones if you do change yours I'd be interested in knowing a part no if possible please.
    I figured a temporary tire for the front on mine, the tire shop had 2 used 33x12.50-18 10 ply truck tires for $100 the pair. I'll run those for now and see how they last, it was never a problem with the old landy tires of the silage pit on loaders back in the day ;).
    I ended up finding a rebuilt county motor for my seized 954 out near the Alberta border, it's quite the trip there from Manitoba so fuel, food and staying out there a nights probably spent the new tire funds this month. My girlfriend suggested i sell some of this iron !!!!!!!!!!, I think she's wanting to trade it on some sparkly ring of some sort, I see more iron before that L.O.L.
    Take care, see ya next time .

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Funnily enough I was looking at the mounts last night and although not too bad, I will replace them. I'll let you know the part numbers when I get them.

    there is one of these JCB in a salvage yard in Fairbanks with engine pulled out, I tried to buy it 20 years ago, I'm sure it is still sitting there. the backhoe was on a sideshift slide that is unusual in US.
    nice to see they put a drain plug on the torque converter.

    Oooh, never played with the powershift one, only the huge leyland back end. I worked for some guys and they had us put the truck engine in it, the one without balancer shafts. It was like a 7 ton whacker plate :D

      @teamidris 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m back again :o) Reminded of taking out the floor plates, lifting out that big bell housing top and sliding back the input coupling. Also, pulling the starter motor because one of the four main bolts is under there (assuming it had it, most never got put back in) And the absolute black mess that it was all covered in :o

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your machine is a Powertrain (around 1979-1980) then you will be able to remove the rear propshaft to the back axle and should be able to remove the transmission from the rear and below.

  • @actorzone856
    @actorzone856 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi all, on all automatic transmissions the torque converter has to be unbolted from the engine, just rotate the engine to get all the bolts out, the engine will lift straight out, the torque converter can be easily damaged doing it this way,

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What happens if you cannot rotate the engine to get to all the bolts ?

    • @actorzone856
      @actorzone856 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if the engine isn't seized its put a spanner on the front engine nut, or a sprocket which fits onto the starter motor hole so you can turn the engine with a spanner, or just use a screwdriver to lever the engine over.

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      And therein lies the problem....!
      She'd picked up on number one so there was no way of doing that.
      Anyway, it's been fully rebuilt now so should soon be fitting it back in.
