Split rings? *shudder* ... widowmakers. It's basically a cannon pointed sideways and a fuse that says "maybe today, let's find out!" Also, pardon the viewership for our ignorance, but when you say it's your next "project", naturally we all think "for electrification". Doesn't seem like you're headed that way, but, inquiring minds must know! But what a fantastic addition to the shop.
Hello Snowflake......or is it The Sky is falling the sky is falling. There is nothing wrong with split rims ! IF you know what your doing. ITS called know how to disassemble, clean, inspect paint assemble the correct way. IF your living in your mommas basement and growing mushrooms in high humidity environment on split rims ummmm no. go grab some lame cheap arse rims.
Lovely old machine. I have a 1976 3CII, slightly rougher than this one, but in perfect working order. They really are indestructible. If they sit for a while the clutch sticks. Just lift it into the air, select a gear and jerk the pedal till it frees off.
Looks like that has tapered seats for the lug studs. The clamping, wheel centering load bearing go thru there. The center hole is an aid to installation. As long as the flange clamps down nice to the hub I wouldn’t worry. If you you have an abundance of caution you might keep an eye out for cracks starting and mind the bolts tension to start.
Front tires cary all the weigh of the load in the bucket the original tires may have a load rateing on sidewall last thing u want is a ton in bucket high up tire blowing or rim spitting ive known lateer 3cx spit the rim in uk jcb rubber ducks i working 5years ago still had split rims i would call an comical argcutral hgv tire fitting firm As for hoses never touch a leaking hose it can inject oil under skin ends in amputation i was told Jcb dealers uk may be able to help with advice theres a good setup Steve ex jcb 3c operator many happy hours on the old girl good look
That is in so much better condition in every way than my mates late '90s 1.6T Kobota mini ex. It broke 2 hours into the start of work. It snapped one of the dog bone links on the bucket.....it's been welded three times or more on just this dog bone, but broke in a new place. Motor has sub 40% of origional output power and the track do not work independently, so very jellous of this machine.
The modified front rims should not be a problem, the steel is thick , probably about 5mm or more and is rated for very heavy loads as is the centre-rib steering tyre. Best of luck with the JCB.
For the front wheels: I don't have a qualified opinion on that other than "just slap the modified rims on, what's the worst that could happen?" High speed highway crash certainly not 😅
How about install a small solar panel on the roof to keep the battery topped up? I don't think the average DIYer would run it enough for the alternator to provide a full charge.
I was desperately looking at my calendar but after your adventure with the digger that backhoe makes a hello lot of sense. So you are looking into converting your backhoe into a Cherrypicker? Forget the cab and the windows. Do not look into restoratering the dashboard and ignore the steering wheel. That monster is controlled by the brakes. Two motors for the main wheels would be a good idea and a separate one for the hydraulics. Have a look into your next Disney park and think about AnimatroniX. That backhoe is a robotic arm after all. Control it with your laptop or smartphone Do not try Chat-gpt. That thing could kill you and Elons AI has promised it will.
Nothing in the world wrong with spit rim wheels if serviced and used properly, this one part pressings will probably crack between the stud holes if worked hard with fork loads,,

I know what's on Your Amazon wishlist Damien - forty litres of Jenolite!!! Love the new project Sah.
@14:29 @Damien 10.00-16 -> 10.00 is width of the tire and 16 is diameter of the rim. Jan from Slovakia (east part of Czechoslovakia 😂 )

The eyes/latches on top of the frontbucket are for forks.
Bonnet connected to the dieseltank in the frame in front of the instrumentpanel.
Chuck Norris seldom uses stunt men, but when he does, he calls up Mr. Damien Maguire !

I had a 1963 stuck in the woods for 2 years and that’s how I kept the battery charged… worked great

Iv got a job like that . At the moment the water an oil is mixing. Did you convert to electric, would be interesting to me
It's immaculate.
It certainly looks dangerous enough as is... but a silent electric powertrain would also enable it to sneak up on people 👌😬
Sistemala è bellissima ❤sta terna jcb
If you electrified this machine your channel would take off. Maybe hybrid ?
You forgot to sign-off with your catchphrase. I.e., "Happy... shaking hands with danger"?? 🤷♂️
omg..how du ju deer....must bee danguras thit viss huge maskin......
It’s a backhoe loader the excavator is the backhoe

I thought it will be electric
Yes it will
Iv got one of them. A lot of rust. I'm here in tipperary, got a prob wt water mixing wt oil.
I'd say their ok must do the same but first sort out the water problem, I doubt its the gasket engine sounds fine an easily started.
