If the consoles are going the way of "Launcher/Store" on PC, then pushing people to get an account helps get them into your walled garden. I don't like it but I am fully expecting them to move off of Steam and have the PSN Store on your PC.
A Sony launcher will just hurt them, most PC gamers want their games on Steam, look at Epic game stores for example, give out free games every week and even when they have exclusives most people will wait for it to come to Steam. I have no issue signing into a PSN account, actually like how the trophies are linked. Sony PC launcher won't work, they will come back to Steam tail tucked between legs if they try it, for sure.
They can do that. It's their business. I can not install their dumb store and sail the high seas, it's my internet connection. I will say that too many people let Epic ass fuck them, so Sony is emboldened after seeing epic pull so many stunts without consequence.
@@oceanbytez847 its not just epic, got origin, ubisoft's direct U, and a few others. Its why killed one of my laptops and crippled my tower till I remeoved the extra launchers.
True. Having all your games on Steam is very convenient. But pirating them means you have more ownership over the product. When you remove the convenience, pirating is the only option left. It's like buying fast food vs. cooking at home. Convenience vs. a better product.
PC players would instantly ignore the game, if they forced PS+ I wish Console players would do the same. But they're fine with paying 80 bucks a year to play Online.
That old, GPU and all? You might want to consider getting one of the new mini PCs with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU (damn, such a stupid name). You'd get (much) better performance in a package you might well fit into your pocket, depending on how tight you like your jeans. Sure, your current system works fine, but resizing from a tower to something that small with a much lower power consumption is something that would be compelling to me, at least.
I just upgraded mine, was 10 years old with ddr3 ram and a GTX 1060 6gb. I bought some new games to try out my new PC, just to realize that they all suck, now I'm back to playing older titles. Don't upgrade yet, wait until games are fun again.
This also affects Linux players the most. The game works perfectly under Proton, but the PlayStation SDK Runtime does not, which requires you to use a the (SteamDeck=1 %command%) launch option, which forces the players to use a controller because it disables mouse input for some reason. All this because Sony thinks they need to force PSN on everyone.
I beat the story and for the final mission I got an achievement and I noticed that only 3% of people had that achievement so I guess a lot of people are dropping this game before even finishing it. The Ironwood mission was miserable to play but i didn't think people would stop playing completely lol
Imagine that the price of the game is 1/4 of your monthly income, then you are not even allowed to enter, at least Sony games will crack on the first day
Now hold on. The issue we had with Helldivers was that they snuck it in AFTER we bought it. Ragnarok tells you on the Steam page (and when they announced it) that you needed a PSN account. So you KNEW this was going to happen.
It's mainly that PC players don't like to be required to use a consoles proprietary account to play a game on PC. It would be like playing nearly exclusively on console and being required to sign into a Steam or competitors' proprietary account system to play a game. It's frustrating and more or less a way to artificially boost account membership (also a way to fish for targets to send SO MANY spam marketing emails and other BS) they just want to be able to play the games that they paid for without all of the extra worry, and headache.
It wasn't hidden for Helldivers 2. It was written on the steam page that a PSN account is required. The issue was that you could just skip the linking part and the game was sold everywhere, even to countries where PSN wasn't available. The main issue was that a few months after the game launched, Sony was trying to force players to link an account thus creating a situation where players from countries where PSN wasn't available where at risk from being banned since creating an account using a false country could result in a ban according to Sony TOS
I think a big part of this game flopping compared to the first as well is the Sweet Baby Inc involvement and the fact that they added a black girl into a game about Norse mythology.

the reason they are doing it was stated by sony execs: they want to tempt pc players to buy a console. thing is, consoles are limited to 30 fps? and the new $700 ps5 pro at 60 fps? i bought a gaming budget pc, 11400f cpu and 3050 6gb asus dual oc gpu, asus prime h510m-k and 1tb ssd and 500w psu - and it gets way more performance than the new $700 even before i upgraded to 32gb 3200mt/s ddr4, plus i have the options to upgrade more: i added a 2tb ssd and changed mb at same time to use 12400f, plus upgraded the psu to 650w and my last upgrade will hopefully be (when i saved up) 3060 12gb vram which will future proof me several years and allow me to upgrade to ddr5 mb and ram if i want, i can even replace the whole case for £50 with one has 4 controllable argb fans in from msi. the basic pc (11400f, 1tb ssd 16gb 3200 ram cl16, 500w psu and 3050 with no external power) cost £640. yeah thats more than $100 more than the console - and i spent more on it since. but i didnt need to upgrade it and it still beats the best console out there and will be viable in that state for at least 5 more years like the console, and then cost far less to just... upgrade the cpu and gpu instead of spend so much on a console. yeah so playstation thinks pc players, who can use controllers with pc versions of games or mouse keys, will be tempted to switch by having to run a psn account on top of everything else, to make investors happy with the lie of increased numbers. why would we, already having a better pc even if we all we own are gaming laptops from years ago, want to waste the money we can use to upgrade a pc even more, on an overpriced unupgradeable underpowered slow console just because they demand we make a psn account? this boils down to execs not being gamers no matter what they say. the execs of every game dev, every console maker, every publisher they hate the nature of any art. they have the same problem with hollywood - they dont have a product for the time it takes to develop then they dont know if the product will bomb or not and after a year or two they need to have another uncertain product ready to fill the earnings gap. what they WANT is regular income to please shareholders, with regular dividends. a bread company works that way so long as wheat flour is available and yeast, you can make bread because its in and out the door same day almost and every day you get income. this led to live service and season passes or for FIFA/EAFC, the yearly release and ultimate team - execs trying to crowbar a regular revenue stream into a creative art product. hollywood they do it by constant remakes of sequel remakes of old IP like marvel, and 'reboots' of series on streaming platforms and television. games are interactive though and players want to invest more in a game and not in a financial way. this is the same thing now with playstation. the idea is: tempt or hassle players off pc onto playstation and you dont have them just pick and choose on steam which they dont get as big a cut from as they do direct purchase on their own storefront or with their own version of a pass. add in every 5 years they have to spend more on a better yet still underpowered console to play the latest games at almost decent fps instead of spend 60% of that on a new gpu OR cpu and get way more performance. they live in a dream world.

It does not matter if anyone says "you don't need to do it", like we can't bloody tell they aren't shills. Cause I remember the guy who wouldn't have been able to play Helldivers 2 in Ukraine, a country that allows PSN, to play the game on PC, because he would need to make the PSN account on a PS5, completely defeating the point of the PC version.
No they didnt. Misleading Title. What they did to Helldivers was require the account MONTHS after the game launched and millions of people were ALREADY playing it. People that were then NOT able to 'continue' playing because they lived in an area where PSN isnt available. GoW is completely different. The account was required at release. Not the same thing at all.

Woke brain virus is a deadly virus.
Sony wakes up everyday wondering how they can throw away even more of their money into the fire pit.
This is what happens when execs don't have to suffer the consequences of their errors. When a regular worker effs up, s/he can lose her/his job. When an exec effs up, absolute worst they can get is a massive paycheck of millions to leave the company, or then get a big bonus and get moved to another top position at another department. Lack of accountability is ruining a lot of industries, including the AAA gaming one.

It wasn't hidden for Helldivers 2. It was written on the steam page that a PSN account is required. The issue was that you could just skip the linking part and the game was sold everywhere, even to countries where PSN wasn't available. the reason they are doing it was stated by sony execs: they want to tempt pc players to buy a console. thing is, consoles are limited to 30 fps? and the new $700 ps5 pro at 60 fps? i bought a gaming budget pc, 11400f cpu and 3050 6gb asus dual oc gpu, asus prime h510m-k and 1tb ssd and 500w psu - and it gets way more performance than the new $700 even before i upgraded to 32gb 3200mt/s ddr4, plus i have the options to upgrade more: i added a 2tb ssd and changed mb at same time to use 12400f, plus upgraded the psu to 650w and my last upgrade will hopefully be (when i saved up) 3060 12gb vram which will future proof me several years and allow me to upgrade to ddr5 mb and ram if i want, i can even replace the whole case for £50 with one has 4 controllable argb fans in from msi. the basic pc (11400f, 1tb ssd 16gb 3200 ram cl16, 500w psu and 3050 with no external power) cost £640. yeah thats more than $100 more than the console - and i spent more on it since. but i didnt need to upgrade it and it still beats the best console out there and will be viable in that state for at least 5 more years like the console, and then cost far less to just... upgrade the cpu and gpu instead of spend so much on a console.
yeah so playstation thinks pc players, who can use controllers with pc versions of games or mouse keys, will be tempted to switch by having to run a psn account on top of everything else, to make investors happy with the lie of increased numbers. why would we, already having a better pc even if we all we own are gaming laptops from years ago, want to waste the money we can use to upgrade a pc even more, on an overpriced unupgradeable underpowered slow console just because they demand we make a psn account?
this boils down to execs not being gamers no matter what they say. the execs of every game dev, every console maker, every publisher they hate the nature of any art. they have the same problem with hollywood - they dont have a product for the time it takes to develop then they dont know if the product will bomb or not and after a year or two they need to have another uncertain product ready to fill the earnings gap.
what they WANT is regular income to please shareholders, with regular dividends. a bread company works that way so long as wheat flour is available and yeast, you can make bread because its in and out the door same day almost and every day you get income. this led to live service and season passes or for FIFA/EAFC, the yearly release and ultimate team - execs trying to crowbar a regular revenue stream into a creative art product. hollywood they do it by constant remakes of sequel remakes of old IP like marvel, and 'reboots' of series on streaming platforms and television. games are interactive though and players want to invest more in a game and not in a financial way. this is the same thing now with playstation. the idea is: tempt or hassle players off pc onto playstation and you dont have them just pick and choose on steam which they dont get as big a cut from as they do direct purchase on their own storefront or with their own version of a pass. add in every 5 years they have to spend more on a better yet still underpowered console to play the latest games at almost decent fps instead of spend 60% of that on a new gpu OR cpu and get way more performance.
they live in a dream world.
It's not just Sony. I've never been able to play Red Dead Redemption 2, and I was denied a refund. I've had it for ages on multiple computers but I can just never sign in to Rockstar to play it. I only want to play Single Player.
It does not matter if anyone says "you don't need to do it", like we can't bloody tell they aren't shills.
If it requires PSN, then it bans 180 countries, and blocks multiple of the remaining 20 like Ukraine from doing do. Cause I remember the guy who wouldn't have been able to play Helldivers 2 in Ukraine, a country that allows PSN, to play the game on PC, because he would need to make the PSN account on a PS5, completely defeating the point of the PC version.
‘Ur final challenge.. port a PlayStation game without a sign in’
AH HELL NAW JIGSAW YOU TWEAKIN
its just like what gaben said "Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem."
Ah, the classic, "if it ain't broke, break it" approach
AAA games before 2015: Spider-man 1&2 movies
AAA games after 2015: Spider-man 3 movie
TL;DR: I dont remember 2015 at all
true
No they didnt. Misleading Title. What they did to Helldivers was require the account MONTHS after the game launched and millions of people were ALREADY playing it. People that were then NOT able to 'continue' playing because they lived in an area where PSN isnt available. GoW is completely different. The account was required at release. Not the same thing at all.
They are doing the same now with the upcoming Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered... absolutely shameful!! :(
Yup, I have the original HZD: Complete Edition for PC, and won’t ever be upgrading to the remaster, won’t ever buy Forbidden West, and won’t be playing the upcoming LEGO Horizon Adventures game that releases in December, all because I am a PC only player who just wanted to enjoy a really good game/game series that just happened to originally be PlayStation exclusive, and I don’t own now and never intend to own a PlayStation console.
@@truekiropfan8329 I'm just going to pirate it. Big middle finger to Sony. Nothing against Guerilla because I am sure they don't like the change either, but it's beyond them as Sony is the publisher. Knowing Nixxes they'll keep it Denovoless so probably cracked within the hour of release.
@@VipapkStudiosOfficialLEGO Horizon Adventures has the option of online co-op however, so unlike the two non-LEGO ones and that VR nonsense one, Call Of The Mountain, it’s not truly 100% single player.
It makes a little more sense requiring a PSN account then the LITERAL REMAKE OF A SINGLE PLAYER GAME THAT NEVER REQUIRED IT THEN AND STILL DOESN’T NOW, but as a PC player without a Playstation console to my name, I CAN’T be bothered to spend 500+ dollars on a PlayStation Console just for one game that looks interesting when the rest of the exclusives for the console are all either terrible or just not games I would ever be interested in, let alone buy and play.
Is there a difference between needing a Xbox account for Microsoft games on PC, compared to PSN for Don't games on PC?
Not in principle, except for one big issue against linking your PC game store to PSN: PSN is not available worldwide.
