    for all of you who don't know, shimmy beats delay tech brutally, but wakeup lows beat shimmy, but meatys beat wakeup lows, block and invincible dp beats meaty, but delayed meaty beats ex dp, but wakeup button beats delayed meaty, but meaty beats wakeup button, but of course block beats wakeup meaty, but throw beats block, tech throw beats throw, and parry beats block strings, but throw beats parry, and FYI DI beats DI 😤😤

      As always though, general rule of thumb if you don't have a read on them: take the throw and block.
      And whilst it may seem like it's a complete lottery on guessing correctly, a lot of offensive pressure is about trying to condition your opponent into expecting certain situations and getting a read on their playstyle.

    One tip to make sure you're doing the timing right is if you see your opponent's throw actually start and THEN the tech happens. That's how you know you're doing it late / correct.

    • @JUSTaGinVA
      @JUSTaGinVA 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They don't teach you this in tutorial because the exchanges in the game were probably never meant to work out that way in the first place.

    • @richr161
      @richr161 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JUSTaGinVA They are meant to work that way. Its just an option select. Taking advantage of the buffer.
      You need an input buffer on throw to give people a big enough window to tech.
      Plenty of ways to abuse this. Buffering moves and specials so they come out if there is a gap in a string. Another one is to poke a space that the opponent walks and input a special so if it hits the special automatically comes out.
      Delay teching will get blown up once your opponent figures out that your delaying teching all their throws. They'll start neutral jumping mid string or doing shimmy's on wakeup or mid string. That punish counter can be 50%-60% with a level 3 super.

    For cammy, can you replace shimmy with hooligan for the same effect to get around this?

    • @evilweevle
      @evilweevle ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not exactly since hooligan will lose to wakeup reversal, something that shimmy does not.

    If you watch most of the top players though, they rarely use it. They're scared of eating damage from the shimmy, so they're not too bothered about grab damage.

      I'll keep that in mind if I ever play at a professional level.
      Edit: I apologize, the above comment wasn't really deserving of that kind of response. I tried to be funny but came off as shitty. A better constructed comment:
      That may be true, but don't disregard this option entirely because high level play is much different from that of the average player. Understanding *why* they do or don't do something, and whether that logic also applies to your situation, is an important step in high-level play analysis. Definitely practice this tech a bit, see where it fits into your gameplan, keep in mind the weaknesses and you're golden. See you on the streets. 👊

      @@tiguilherman_plays Apologies for being cheeky, I didn't mean to upset you. It just needs to be understood that part of playing a fighting game is sizing up your opponent and analyzing what they do and do not have the knowledge to beat - knowledge checking. Obviously at a high level you can go into a match with the expectation that your opponent will be shimmying, but this is a valuable tool and I didn't want people reading the comments to think to themselves "oh, the pros don't use it? Guess I won't either then." You have to understand the context behind why they don't - advanced footsies, optimal punishes, etc - and decide for yourself what works for your skill level, rank, matchup, etc.

      @@Sharkwellington youre just stating the obvious, there. Every kind of tech is vocabulary. Delay tech included. And if you know what youre doing, youll use what works depending on what you read from your opponent in the first round or first game, then proceed to counterplay and establishing an actual dialogue. No matter at what level and even if said dialogue consists of you or your opponent getting absolutely trounced.

    New to these games. I still don’t understand how to delay tech. Do you hit light punch/kick in order to tech delay a hit/throw or is it something in settings that you enable?

    • @JusRed48
      @JusRed48 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's a manual timing that you do, nothing in the settings

    Is it accurate to call this an option select, then? From my understanding, isn’t an option select the game deciding the best outcome in a given sequence and performing that automatically based on your inputs? You’re really just only hitting lp & lk a few frames later than normal, so is that actually an OS? Or just a delay in the buttons you choose to press?
    Just trying to understand the terminology/semantics.

    • @JusRed48
      @JusRed48 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's an OS because it's covering two options at once, the throw or the strike. The best outcome is teching the throw and blocking the strikes. It doesn't cover the options that beat it of course but it would be broken if so.

    • @Cerberrus117
      @Cerberrus117 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you had a recording of a delay throw tech, it would throw the tech or block the hit, so it's 2 outcomes with the same input
