a small tip on the parrying supers topic, parrying anything makes the recovery change from parry recovery to the recovery of whatever you parried. It means if you parry a move that causes you to recover as if you blocked it. TL DR: A succesful parry is just a block plus the benefits of a parry such as drive meter recovery and push back reduction.
This is actually really great advise, I never used parry like this... this will definitely help me break that platinum barrier I'm stuck in. Thanks man
@@TrophyJourney My Zangief is platinum 1 rank, while my Guile and Chun-Li are both gold rank. I feel like what separates the diamond ranks and up are those who have mastered the match-ups and system mechanics, while platinum and below are still struggling with specific match-up tricks and knowledge, plus still mastering their strongest characters on their way up.
@@Bluebocat Drive Impact is the answer to all the neutral Special move spamming. It can punish almost everything... like those Sumo Headbutt or those Blanka Ball.
Here's how I've started thinking about parry in match: Consider the damage you take from a punish counter throw. Now...how much damage are you likely to take if you guess wrong on this next mixup? If it's likely to be more if you get hit, then bet on parry. This means I tend to parry more later in rounds when bigger supers are on deck. It does make people second guess their offense too.
I usually use Drive Parry to use ultimately Drive Reversal. It works almost all the time. As a JP player, you just take your turn back and it is brutal to deal with.
@@shinonyxIt would only make sense because you can do other options out and you're still technically taking the hit, so it should work nearly the same as DI out of a parry, at least in concept
Thanks for the tip! Been watching your videos since SF4. This really open my eye on the parry mechanic. I didn't know you were about to tech throw after parrying
Very informative sometimes I forget to use parry I forget how good it is definitely gonna start using it more now especially on wakeup supers and DI in the corner is really good thanks for making this vid.
I absolutely would have just assumed tapping parry for each projectile was more efficient (and thats what I do). Great tip on the hold for spammed fireballs.
One opponent was trying to Perfect Parry me when I was jumping at him... the problem with that is that you get a free throw when you empty jump... he learned the hard way... and that's super effective when using JP. You bait the opponent with Gates and use Departure when he tries to parry.
hey buddy. amazing vid! can you cover parrying during blockstrings? people crouch jab all day long online and I wonder if I can (perfect) parry in between?
the pushback is not any different, just even split between attacker and defender, as opposed to the defender taking all the pushback (excluding the corner)
The fact that I can’t punish a “whiff” parry with a button because they let the opp block right after is fucking stupid. Make the parry recover window REAL. Shit is ridiculous
Got a question. Parrying has 29 frames of recovery, but let's say you parry a move that usually does 20 frames of blockstun. Assuming I let go of parry right after parrying that move, do I only get 20 frames of recovery, or do I get the usual 29 frames?
If you let go of parry, then you are put in the same situation as if you blocked the move. In other words, your parry recovery will match the usual blockstun.
The reward for it is scaled damage which isnt good pre say in early matches but when your opponents are low health,it can lead to guaranteed punishes/situations.IMO it got its uses but
Perfect parry is ruining the game as I expected. And now with Rashid coming I might as well just delete the game. Fighting games are more about being flashy with a million mechanics than actual competitive balance.

so good to know this. I was like "why would I even parry if there's a 29f recovery"

This is how I feel with DI
The mental stack is real. I never seen so many uncontested jumpins from elite professional players because of it.

@@Bluebocat I'm the same. I'm ready to react to my opponents DI, but I always forget to use it myself.
Very use-full tips, especially holding down parry against multiple jp spikes instead of pressing parry down at each one of them.
Thanks.
People who've fought a lot of JP are not underestimating the value of parry. We have embraced it.

Love the way you break down everything in simple to understand terms. Keep it up been following this page since the SF4 days

Interesting, im a JP user to, didn't know you could go from parry to drive reversal. This will save me from allot of accidental drive impacts.

@Azalealiketheflower no it totally works, tried it as soon as I read your comment. No more unintentional drive impacts from me lol

Perfect timing on this. My cousin and I were just discussing using parry vs blocking during different situations.
The best channel on TH-cam for SF tech! Thank you so much for delivering time after time, Vesper!
Wow I didn't realize you got so much meter back from each attack. Dang, I gotta use it more.
Now I can pass the basketball bonus round 🏀

This was an excellent video. I don't play this game, but I still found it captivating.
This was very helpful. I’ve been using a lot of perfect parry, but not enough of regular.
Thank you for this info Vesper because I was actually wondering what all standard parry could do
I learn something new about SF6 every day. Didn't notice you get your drive gauge back when you successful parry...smdh.
Vesper been clutch with the tutorials since I was in 5th grade. Thanks vesper
I had no idea about throw teching after parry.

Good stuff V! Love the overlay!
Thank you Vesper... very informative!
Good stuff.I use parry mostly for fireballs but now going to use it more for drive rush spammers.
That was great tips Vesper 👌
2:11 I didn't know about the parry throw tech, thanks a lot
Great video!. I had not realized it was that important. Good to know.
Very clear content 👌
I got to Diamond without using it, I forgot it exists because everyone spams throws 1000 times in a row
insta drrive rush throw...
I didn’t know about parry throw tech. 🤯
This is pure gold.

I've seen this alot too, it's something you can try once or twice in a match. It's good because you can get a punish counter combo
So good bro, def upped my game!
thank bro you helped alot

That's something I needs to do more on wake up.

It builds that meter baby!!
This was really good, perfect parrying next?
JP with his full screen Command grab
This was a really great video.
Thanks for the Tip Dood.
You the man
Hmm I am confused, I wanted infos on the perfect parry (+ counter) but seems it is the only thing not covered in the video about parry?
It depends on what move you perfect parried but you can pretty much punish with anything, unless you perfect parried a light attack.
Let's get the parry started!
...
Tough crowd.
Lol. Dad joke too strong
So this is how you get around JPs full screen super...
i wish there would be a list of Parried B&B or Blockstrings whichh become punishable with the less amount of Pushback ;)
the pushback is not any different, just even split between attacker and defender, as opposed to the defender taking all the pushback (excluding the corner)
Honestly I didnt know parrying also worked as a reversed fautless defense from GGS
If you have less than half a bar left, can you still get a perfect parry?
Yes, it's the only way to prevent burnout at that point.
Notes have been taken!
Zangief cares not for your parry.
Unfortunately though i think his super can be parried. Due to it starting at fist attacks.
Hello Vesp great job, please is there a flowchart ken in your playlist? If not please consider making one.
Thanks.
Vesper SF6 looks like 3rd strike Dreamcast version with normal canceling Activatedm
I need to take notes on this... Can I pay for the script?
whenever i try to parry a honda headbutt or a blanka ball, they just walk up and throw me
The fact that I can’t punish a “whiff” parry with a button because they let the opp block right after is fucking stupid. Make the parry recover window REAL. Shit is ridiculous
When you do the tech throw, do you still holding the parry buttons or you have to release both buttons and press the throws buttons?
The other day I ran through a Vesper Arcade club member lol. Y'all need to pay attention!
Parry supers except if they’re throw supers and fireballs ez
cool
Parries are very strong in this game
So is the frame data the same as block?
Got a question. Parrying has 29 frames of recovery, but let's say you parry a move that usually does 20 frames of blockstun. Assuming I let go of parry right after parrying that move, do I only get 20 frames of recovery, or do I get the usual 29 frames?
If you let go of parry, then you are put in the same situation as if you blocked the move. In other words, your parry recovery will match the usual blockstun.

Perfect parry is scaling so much that it actually doesn't matter.
competitive balance has never existed in any fun fighting game ever, get over it
Damage becomes shit after perfect parry. Just stop being so predictable so it doesn’t keep happening lmao
Also, perfect parrying isn't that easy. Depends on the move. Some moves startup faster than others and are different timing.
