Cup of coffee, couple of eggs, and John’s Furniture w/ Trena. Great start to my Sunday.
Same here!
Yep. Sunday morning ritual
Same !!
Awe. Love it🥰
Broke out my grandmother's old Singer table from the basement as have finally converted my daughters' room into a guest/sewing room. Cleaned it, rubbed some Restore a Finish on it, then used Howards wax. I've had this piece since I was 21. I am 58. It looks great! Not perfect, but I was not shooting for perfect. You and Thomas Johnson out of Maine are the best. I finally glued some pieces that have been in the drawer of my nice old tv table bureau while fixing up other items. Took 5 minutes, and twelve years (eyeroll). Thanks for the inspiration to tackle some long overdue projects. Plus as I own a hardware store I always learn more to help my customers. Very much appreciate your videos for the info as well as the relaxation. Something about furniture restoration videos is very calming.
Way to go!😉💪
It’s so nice to see that one doesn’t need to do a complete tear down and stripping in order to give new life to a tired set of chairs. Super job Trena! 😊
Sometimes less is more. They are great chairs. Thank you for sharing.👍
Laura Becker is a talented friend, and the rush weaving she does is as skillful as her caning. Love the finish,Trenna.
I have added this type of project to my list of spring cleaning. My beautiful teak Balinese coffee table needs some TLC. It is 3 ft square, and the top is all one piece .
I believe the craftsman "peels"
off the tree. Anyway, lovely sprucing up of the oak ladder back chairs. Adding Howard's Feed and Wax to the Home Store shopping. Glad you had a nice visit back east with Laura.
Wonderful!
I do want to thank you for giving us amatures great tips on how to do things correctly. I really do enjoy your channel. I have been working on a folk Victorian home that I am stocking with antiques. Your videos are peaceful to me.
You are so welcome!
Well, as an old dog (me), I learned a new trick today. Have lots of antiques that need some TLC. Will definitely be buying some beeswax. Thanks so much for the info.
THANK YOU, SWEET TRENA. YOU MAKE IT ALL LOOK SO EASY! TAKING FURNITURE APART IS VERY INTIMIDATING, BUT THE CHAIRS DO LOOK GREAT, THEY HAVE A WHOLE NEW LIFE AHEAD OF THEM.
watching trena gave me the confidence to break down old furniture. i was always afraid the glue would hold and the wood would shatter. however, i am glad to be proven wrong.
Nice job on the chairs,,,and the seats. Way to go Laura.
I love the chairs, and the seats are gorgeous. Great work!
Since the stretchers are round, you can turn the one that was chewed and patched so the patch is facing downward. Then nobody can see it except the floor, which will not care.
I love the chairs, they are so pretty! The seats really make them pop.
Simple, but retains the originality of the chairs.great little video as always.just continue doing what you do best.😎😎😎👍👍👍
Very nice and those sits, perfection.❤
I thoroughly enjoed this video. I don't have any furniture restoration to do, but I do have a lot of furniture maintenance needs. It was a nice, relaxing 10 minutes of pretending you were doing my work for me. Alas, my cleaning awaits.
lol darn
I love the calming music while you work.
Hey, you’re not the boss of me-I definitely AM subscribed!! Lovely to see the transformation just from cleaning and polishing. Laura’s webbing work gorgeous!
Awesome! Thank you!
Those seats are so unexpected. I have wondered how to refresh a piece. Thanks for this tidbit.
You're welcome!
Very unexpected but very beautiful
I was not expecting the cane seats! Very cool.
The seats realy look nice, and they compliment the chair.
Excellent refresh and diy instructions.
These chairs have been given a new lease on life.
Saludos y bendiciones.
Thankyou! I will🥰
Trena. Thank you again for sharing. I always learn something from you. Beautiful work as always
wow Laura did a beautiful job on the seats, they really make the chairs pop, thanks
Yes they do
Trena, I found the Howard Beeswax at Home Depot here in Georgia. Have started in the master bedroom and oh my gosh! I can almost hear the furniture saying AAH!!! Thank you ever so much for telling us viewers about the product. The difference is absolutely amazing. So glad I bought 2 bottles of it. It will surely be my go-to product from now on. Thanks again.
That is awesome!
Really beautiful! I love love love those gorgeous seats! Really nice job.
Thanks so much!
You and Laura both do amazing work. I love the seats, and the chairs are fantastic.

Hi Trena, without doubt you are the par excellence of your chosen field, what more canbe said🥰😘💕👍👍👍👍
🥰
They look really nice.
Excellent as always Sister.
Beautiful work, Trena! Good tip for my old presssed=back chairs. Thank you.
I hope you recognize your gift or talent. I fully expected cloth seats. Would never have thought of the woven seats or the style. That's a gift and I envy it. I think few people really have that talent. As always, beautiful work.
Yes! Thank you!
Nice job and a lovely video. I think tge seats are fantastic!
Another great video, i alway look forward to seeing your videos!!!!
wow those chairs are different trena.... very nice job over all !!!! they should last a good 50 yrs at least;];];]
Beautiful chairs
Very nice and timely for me. I've had 3 chairs for over 30 years that I plan on reupholstering. The wood is not bad enough to refinish, but it could use a refresh. I am totally going to do this. I will let you know how they work out. Thanks and have a great week.
Sounds great!
Your "little spruce up" made a MAJOR difference in these chairs, and Laura's woven seats do look like a "perfect compliment" - and as always, I learned something new. 😎 Thank you Trena.
Oh thank you!
Thanks for the inspiration.
I grew up with pressed oak chairs in the fifties and sixties with my parents antique shop friends and always liked them. I absolutely loved the rush caned seats and with your wash and wax (sounds a car wash) they look beautiful!
Thanks!
Beautiful chair, seats are stunning. ❤
I think so too!
I love your work.
Great job Trena.

5/6/24...great show using simple Bees Wax, green scrubby cloth & 'elbow greese'. Beautiful results...as always..!💪👍😊
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank You for that Howard's tip, needed that !!
Gonna use it on some other restorations that just need a quick touch up.
Chair seats are very beautiful.
Glad to help
Regarding your ending comment, I disobeyed a long time ago and subscribed anyway. 👍
And thanks for another great video.

nice cleanup job.
Hahaha! GORGEOUS! But do you really think we can all wait till the end to see what the seats will look like???? I peeked and then went back to watch it from the beginning :)
Lol
Cute chairs!!!❤
Nicely done ❤
Very helpful! I kea furniture... but e certainly have furniture in our home that really only needs this sort of treatment...brighten the finish and give it a new coat of protection. Thanks, Trena.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome
Great job on the chairs!
Thank you!
Hi! I am enjoying the new emphasis on what you can do and it seems to me that it would be an interesting endeavor for you to make a series of videos for purchase that would teach furniture repair and treatment for the beginner. It would be another good way to pass along your knowledge and skills. I like the idea that it would be a way to have furniture be of longer use . Take care and be well! Second thought, I would be interested in learning about you and your horse(s) too! K
Thanks! Noted
Too late, I'm already subscribed... 😁
I think it would be very hard to find chairs as well made as these in todays world. Quality has nearly disappeared in the furniture field these days. Outstanding work!
I wish I was as easy to refinish.
Cool
These chairs are gorgeous !! Love the seats. Thank you for always teaching us while your working. Your do's and don'ts help all of us learn about the trade !! This was a fun video. Loved it!!!
You are so welcome!
Morning ,very helpful video. And perfect, but unexpected seating. Unique and beautiful
Yeah, at first I was a little wary of the choice, but when you pull back and see them from a distance it really compliments the style of the chairs.
Those are graceful little chairs. My dining room set is due for a scrub down and repolish, too.
Those seats are perfect! what a beautiful set. Thanks for bringing us along! Love to see those subscriber numbers rising!
You bet!
@Trena~ This was a great tutorial. The technique is so simple, but it really packs a beautiful punch! The woven seats done by Laura look fantastic and truly make these chairs special! BRAVO! CHEERS TO YOU MY FRIEND! ~~Christy~~
Thank you so much Christy!🥰
Really really stand out. So glad to see that treatment❤❤❤❤
A Couple Of Items that your viewers might find useful:
Green Scotchbrite: There are two Green Scotchrites - an industrial and a kitchen. The industrial is about 600 grit while the kitchen is rougher but unspecified grit.
Quick Clamps: Stanley Black & Decker owns both DeWalt and Irwin - so it really doesn’t matter which brand of clamp one uses.
There's downsides to plastic gliders as well as felt pads, after some time they tend to go brittle, break in half & leave the nail protruding. Kids & some visitors tend to be poor at noticing instantly.
Ultimately I'd rather deal with stuck hair & dust than deep scratches in the floor from nail heads.
Hmm. Yes that happened with the old plastic ones. These are a silicone based product so not so prone to drying out as the old plastic ones did.
Too late: we’re already subscribed! 😮
They look amazing I loved the seats too stay safe out there and God Bless you and your family
Love the seats. So beautiful! ❤❤
Nice! Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful!
Thank you, Trena. 👍
Love your choice of seats! Thank you for sharing.
Glad you like them!
Thanks trena. I've been curious about howards and the clean and spruce up instead of a formal refinish. Especially chairs with the spindles and detail.
Glad it was helpful!
Chairs look fantastic.
Thank you for tutorial, really liked the seats, chairs finished out beautifully, appreciate the video, enjoyed watching.
Glad you enjoyed it
Very fine upholstery at the start of this
Not sure what you mean?
Big difference. Looking great.
Trena: I not only enjoyed this video, but have its brother, the arm chair, sitting in my living room for extra seating. I bought mine at SFMacy’s when I worked there as their home furnishing co-ordinator. It was on sale for $79.00. I remember being so excited buying it. One of our first pieces for our new home. A good memory. Still love it! Carol from California
Oh very cool! ❤️
Very nice. I love the bees wax. I have used it on pens and bowls as well.
👏👏👏❤
the beeswax polish you use is pretty liquid. i have not seen that in nz but it looks interesting. i have always finished my pieces with a beeswax polish which i have always made myself. maybe on the next batch i will make it runnier to see how it works.
❤
Love love love those chairs 👏👏👏👏. Inspired me to work on our 3 dining room chairs 🥰
Yay! Thank you!
Prachtig!! Niek
