I never get tired of watching your wizardry creating the perfect colors. Such beautiful work on a truly magnificent table.
Thank you so much!
The music you choose to accompany your videos is just right. Often, when watching other channels, the music is electronic and mind numbing, so I tune out and go elsewhere. Your choices always compliment the work you are doing. It is all of a piece! Wonderful to watch and listen to.
Wow, thank you!
The Pyramide by Edgar Hopp
Another amazing example of professional artisanry, by one of the most lovely persons in the world.
🥰
Trena, I have watched a few different creators that refinish and repair furniture . Then I ran across your channel. Not one of them can compare to you. You are on top of your game. Everything is so beautiful when your finished. It is easy to see your passion for your trade. You did not disappoint with this table either. It looked like this table had seen a lot of meals and now it will see a lot more. Incredibly beautiful!! I can not wait to see what is next !!
Thomas Johnson Antique Furniture Restoration is also really good!
Wow, thank you!
I love watching you and Thomas my favourite restorations
I absolutely love the darker stain, and prefer it over lighter stains. I know the trend right now is light furniture, but this deep stain just looks luxurious and regal! Your work is so incredible! I love how fearless you are with working on these things. Very inspiring!!
Beautiful work as usual. They will enjoy that table for generations.
I hope so!
This is a Cinderella story for sure. The maple looked pristine under the thick finish. It's nice to see a quality piece restored to its original beauty.
It looks much better than the original. Trena understands finishes. I cannot imagine putting all that opaque toner on this wood. The little grain it had was not visible. THEY basically painted this maple brown, and for no reason.
Trena: incredible! Can you imagine all the dinners at this table? And dinners to come? OMG! Beautiful job. Carol from California
Oh yes!
I have a HUGE family and a large table holds so many memories ❤. Thank you for showing us the water popping method🎉
Wow! The customer is always right, and it is stunning. Thank you for showing us all of these techniques. One of your best videos yet. Excited about the trunk too.
Thank you so much!
Throwing a chair off a bridge, throwing yourself on a table, what's next, you wild a crazy gal, you 😁😆!?!?!?! Thanks for a beautiful job. Finish is much warmer, inviting, and shows off the gorgeous grain. Thank you for what you do and may you continue to be abundantly blessed. John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.
😁
I will not give you grief about the color! I can't believe ppl do that. Beautiful as usual Trena
After last week's episode, I was a bit worried about the term "water popping." 😉
Anyway, thanks for showing us how this affects how the wood holds stain. Never knew about that. Love the dark stain for this table. Fabulous work, as always.
Lol
WOW, TRENA...VERY LABOR INTENSIVE BUT SO WORTH IT. NEVER HEARD OF WATER POPPING ON FURNITURE, NEW TERM FOR ME. VERY COOL, YOU'RE A GOOD TEACHER AND VERY INSPIRING. THANKS MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO SHOW US! CHEERS TO YOU, BEAUTIFUL TRENA!
Thank you so much!
The before and after pictures are amazing. Another great job. The color is gorgeous!
I think you must have started woodworking at the age of 6yo because your work is beyond your years. You always manage to amaze me with your skills.
Wow, thank you!
What a Beautiful result! I would be proud to have that table in my home. As always I love watching an artist at work. Thank you for sharing
Thank you so much!
You are soooo lucky to be working with your Father again. This table is HUGE. Great job - as usual. You are the BEST.
Superb work, as always! The ability to see the wood's grain makes the restoration sooooo much better than the original.
Thank you! Cheers!
I love the way the grain still shows through the new stain. The new mix is so much warmer than the straight from the can stain.
Darkening the wood is supposed to make it look like a more expensive wood. This came out beautifully.
I am afraid I would have told the customer, here is a piece of maple. You can see the finished color on the gym floors everywhere basketball is played. If you want an oak color, use oak wood. If you want a walnut color, use a walnut wood. Your artistry has broadened the choices for your customers! Congratulations!! You are to be commended for your breadth of knowledge you bring to bear on each project you take on!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Thanks!
Trena does it again! You turned a shambles into a showstopper, with the muted sheen bringing out the maple grain to be admired for years to come.
Oh, I’m so sure the customer is going to be delighted with your work! It’s absolutely amazing, the color is so rich and warm, love it! Six leaves and a whole lot of tweaking, fantastic job!
The only opinion that matters is the customer's. The laquer really makes the grain pop and adds depth to the color. Beautiful work as always. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
What you do is magical! That color and staining is sooo beautiful. That table is now a treasure for generations to come. Awesome!
Thank you so much!
Amazing as usual! Doing this as a hobby and boy do I appreciate your artestry! I also understand why folks looking to make a quick flip will just paint. To each his own and not judging but I’m so glad to learn from an expert. Always on the lookout for “free” pieces to work on. Thank you for sharing your work. Bravo 👏🏽 👏🏽
What a huge difference and a huge table. Trena you did a great job. The table looks great.
Thanks so much! 😊
So glad your client loved this table and gave it to you to work on! You can just see a family or group of friends sitting around it. Beautiful result, Trena and thanks for all the information!
Absolutely!
What a huge difference the water popping made! Great trick of the trade. Lovely rich finish, the graining of maple is such a classy soft look. 😉
Thank you! Cheers!
Excellent tutorials on the entire processes of the table refinishing, once again I leave the video with far more than I had when I started viewing it, I encourage you to keep on producing videos and sharing your wealth of knowledge and experiences. Beautiful piece, your client should be very pleased with the results. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome, thank you!
I think what impresses me most is that you have both the craftsmanship to do the repairs (or occasionally re-purpose) and also the artistic ability to create the perfect finishes. I have done some work over the years that I am rather proud of, but it does not compare to what you do on a daily basis. Thanks for sharing your amazing talents with us.
Wow. Thankyou!
Trena, you are a color toner master. Your finishes are beautiful!
Thank you so much
The fix on the feet was elegant and simple
Wow, large table…..enough for a proper family dinner at Grandma’s ! Extremely nice work, as always !
Thank you very much!
I really like the soft sheen finish on this table. The subtle grain of maple is very beautiful IMO and the darker stain your client chose makes it look so lux and classy. Great job as always!
I totally agree!
Amazing work as always. I was really happy you showed the leaves too. Being from a big family, big open tables just speak to me, all the meals, celebrations and so on. Gathering around the table, especially one you made so beautiful will create new memories. Kudos!
Wonderful!
I've been working and finishing wood for over 50 years. So, I know just enough about the processes of refinishing/rebuilding furniture to say that I am very impressed by the work you do. I learn something from you every time I watch one of your videos. Many thanks !
Thankyou!
Stunning as always. You work your magic on every piece. I'm sure the owner is thrilled with what you did.
Thank you very much!
That dark stain is absolutely beautiful. 👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️
Maple is such a hard wood.
And this table yielded to the
"Trenna Touch!"
Skillfully done and creatively edited. Loved the rant..
"IT DOESN'T MATTER!"
Thanks Trenna, very nice.😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
6 leaves, like a Lego table! Outstanding result!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great job as usual, But Wow. That is one big family gathering for Christmas Dinner. 😊
Such beautiful work! Love it.. “don’t give me any grief about going dark!”” LOL. You’re funny! This was a beautiful save! It came out wonderfully! Must be for a large fam! That is a big table with all of the leaves in!!
I absolutely ❤️ 😍 the darker stain. This now looks luxurious and rich! Great job, as always!
Thank you! Cheers!
With all due respect, your recent move has been beneficial. Your smiles reflect that in your videos. Again, not knocking your previous vids, but I see a difference.
Oh Thankyou!
Beautiful work, as always! My wife and I love that type of table, which my son called a transformer table when he was younger. When we bought our house we scoured furniture stores and antique stores looking for one, without success, and ended up commissioning one from some Amish craftsmen: three 18-inch leaves and 24-inch drop-leaf ends make for an incredibly versatile table.
Incredible job I really like the dark stain it looks amazing thank you for sharing your talent with us stay safe and God Bless I will be trying the water popping
Thank you! Cheers!
And who needs a gym membership with a project like this? You get a full stretch and workout just on the scotch pads part of the process 💪 Stay awesome Trena, great job as always 😎
Couldn't agree more!
Wow! Once gain, a refinish that has the piece looking better than it did when it was new! Thank you for shaing!
You bet
Beautiful transformation. The wood looks like it can finally breathe. ❤
Yes! Thank you!
Thanks for taking us along on this enjoyable project. I usually go work on any one of dozens of projects I have waiting for me to feel ok enough to tackle for an hour or so, after watching your videos. Thanks for your exceptional content and dedication to the craft . 🙂
What awesome job you did Trena! I have never seen a table that extended out so far! 😁 Thank you for sharing and also those tips you gave on staining! Cheers
You are so welcome!
Wow, I was not prepared for how great that stain looked on the first leaf!
Another stunning piece from you Trena. You are a wood whisperer and your dad must be so proud of you and your beautiful work. I see so much love for the wood and the pieces you work on and it truly shows. I would love to see what you would do for something that would be yours and that you do either from scratch or restored.
Thank you so much!
As always, a winner, Trena. That colour on the now visible grain plus the soft finish looks gorgeous! Also, more sympathetic to the maple wood's character. I quite like that trough you use for stripping, makes sense. I knew about the water popping but had not seen a side by side comparison. Quite a difference.
Lovely job Trena! 👍
I remember Grandma and Grandpa's dining room table having the capability of serving dozens. The only time that leaves went in it was when all of the family got together which was once a year when everyone from the family would go at the same time. The rest of the year the leaves were stored in the "leaf closet" which contained the leaves, tablecloths, runners and placemats. So the table basically had it's own closet.
The color was flat, overly muted and really shiny.
I can only imagine what the table would look like if left in the care of John's Furniture.
Thanks for another great video of excellent quality. 👍
PS: I won't hate on you for the dark color but I was wondering about it for a while. Love it!
As always, beautiful finish on that table! I love that the grain come through so nicely.
A family heirloom turns over a new !eat and takes on a new life thanks to your work.
Love it when you don’t have to use chemicals 🙏 I am a 68 year old nana keep safe sweetheart ❤
Your work is amazing your
Father must be very proud
That’s a huge table and beautifully restored xx
@Trena! OMG....that Rubbed Finished is STUNNING!! You completely knocked this one out of the park! Thank you so much for sharing your tips & tricks for finishing maple wood pieces. Maple is so beautiful, but it can give people fits when it comes to achieving the finish they had envisioned. Trena.... you know how to SLAY maple!! Lol. CHEERS TO YOU MY FRIEND! ~~Christy~~
lol thanks Christie! I’ll call myself the maple slayer now 😂😂
@@johnsfurniturerepair PERFECT! 🤣🤣
Great job absolutely is beautiful AMAZING JOB ❤Have a wonderful day 📹👌👍😉 from new brunswick 🇨🇦
Thank you! Cheers!
What a beautiful table. You’ve taken a well loved and worn table and made it beautiful again. I like the soft sheen and the color is wonderful. ❤
Thank you so much!
OMG.. this table is very similar to the one we inherited from my in laws. Ours is oak with a drill bit twist in the legs and four wider leaves instead of six. It needed some love like this one but fortunately not quite as much. Yours came out magnificently. Mine is much better than it was when I got it.😅 I wish this video had been available five years ago which would have helped make my restoration better. And what’s even more amazing is the trunk you’re going to be doing is very close to the one we got from her parents. We cedar lined it rather than paper so I am anxious to see that video. As always your talent is astounding.
Oh wow!
I also enjoyed the music accompaning the restoration. Thank you
Trena once again you have saved a beautiful piece of of furniture and made it look better than when new!! You have such an amazing talent!! I look forward to seeing you restore the big chest!!
Thank you so much!
What a beautiful result. You restore beautifully and I love hearing the beautiful music in the background! Thank you I enjoyed it! Niek.
Thank you so much!
WoW! That grain was awesome and color was perfect! You're also an Artist! Thank you, Trena!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Something about Canadian maple,
some excellent wotk here, and high quality finished product.
Ready for another couple of generations of family food, good times, and memories !
Couldn't agree more!
Perfection, Trena is thy name, its funny in your line of business where screwed it is actually the opposite of nailed it, classic just like the music, cheers Wiz!!!
Lol
Love the finish
I like the way the (Water staining) makes the end grain match the rest of the table. that's what I like about you is all the helpfull tips and tricks. keep up the great work!
Awesome! Thank you!
Beautiful color. Legs are fantastic. Thanks for video.
Awesome colour and finish, nice, again. 😄👍
Thank you! Cheers!
That turned out really nice, Trena. If my g-g-grandma had two of those she might have had enough room at dinner for her 22 children! Beautiful job, as usual. Hugs, Dave and Amy.😀
Oh wow! Awesome
Their last name was Noah! 😂
What a transformation. Really beautiful.
I love the soft hand rubbed finish! Beautiful work as always 😊
Beautiful! I found a similar table for $15 that is in much rougher shape. I'm sure I will be viewing this video several times this summer when I am working on it. Thanks for the knowledge and inspiration!
Awesome! Thank you!
We have a 19th century table with 6 leaves and have had 42 people seated at it for my 60th birthday, 22 years ago. Big, heavy dining tables are wonderful if you have the room for them. We were living in a 32 room castle at that time. 🙂
That is awesome!
Lovely. Didn’t think I liked the buffed finish until you showed it close up. The wood grain was stunning 🤩
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome work! I bet was a expensive repair and restoration for the customer but is well worth it if they have the money to do it, this table has 100 more years to go. I love to do this kind of restorations but people here are cheap.. :) I watch all your videos but i don't post to much. Can't wait for the next project. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks 👍
A lot of work and another beautiful job. I like the color!
I’ve never seen maple wood look so beautiful!! You are amazing!!😛💖
Thank you! 😊
I like the dark ! What would make this video perfect ! For shop dog to make an appearance! Hope she’s well and happy!
Hi from the smallest state, Rhode Island , always thrilled when you post a video.. love your work.❤️
Thank you so much!
Great job Trena! A nice big table to do things on lol. Cheers ❤
Beautiful piece!
I often wonder the “rules” of scraping vs stripping vs sanding. I was wondering again just now and you answered- perfect timing!
I don’t have the ambition to be a master craftsman but your videos are inspiring and help me with my garage projects! Thank you.
Awesome!
Your work is so relaxing........I love the music you are playing with this episode, watching you putting on the stripper, bushing back and forth in time with the music, is sooo relaxing and peaceful. It's a rare thing to watch something educational, relaxing at the same time. Thank you so very much for all you do for us. With peace in such a troubled world, we can ecape, if only for a moment. Blessings
Thankyou!
@@johnsfurniturerepair You are so very welcome
Just amazing as always! Trena , your talent is beyond any other I've watched. I wait for your new uploads. Thank you!! 😘
Thank you so much!
That is one BIG table! The finish you did makes it look like a million bucks, too.
I have a soft spot for maple. It gives us syrup in the spring, lovely shade in the summer, and puts on a beautiful show in the fall. Plus, it has such a soft, even grain it's perfect for furniture. (And my kitchen floor.)
That stain combo turned out to be such an attractive color. So much better than the original color. Now one can see the beautiful grain of all eight parts of the top of the table. The lacquer finish turned out to be a satin. The client will be over the moon.
Thank you! Cheers!
Normally, I'm a Golden Oak gal. This turned out SO nice! Another job Well Done!
Learning new skills every time I watch your videos. Thank you 🙏🏻
Happy to hear that!
What a difference a refinish makes 😊
I'm surprised I like the stain as much as I do . I think it's because of the transparency of the finish compared to how it originally looked. Great work, as always. You never disappoint!
Beautiful! Great stain mixing. The table looks absolutely fantastic. I think the clients choice to keep essentially a variation of the original finish color was a great choice.
Watching you work is a lesson in extreme attention to detail. I cant ever remember seeing even a minute issue unresolved. Your father has created another true artist like himself.
I think the dark, warm stain is scrumptious!
That turned out so gorgeous! 🤩Dark wood tones are my favorite. I can imagine lots of holiday dinners being served at that table!
Outstanding. Thanks for teaching about water popping.
