Wow! This pistol looks so professional and clean. Most home manufactured guns look crude, but not this one. Much better quality than the production potmetal 25 autos. I wish I had the skill you have!
Thanks. Not so much skill maybe but an almost infinite amount of patience and over thinking every step and operation. Lots of mistakes that I see on this one:(
This is the best looking and functioning "modern" home made i have seen. Nice work! By "modern" i am saying anything that is not loaded from the front :) I have seen many amazing muzzle loaders. That said, this is a very well crafted piece. Thank you for sharing your skills and knowledge with us.
Awesome work. Considering the one shown in the plans was so rough you really have shown that it is possible to make it work and look right. Thanks for sharing your process. Looking forward to your next build.
Very amazing project sir, Very clean and well made design its a beautiful gun and im not jocking but you are the first person ive ever seen in youtube that teach you how to build a homemade pistol congratulations.
I respect and admire your attention to detail. There were a couple of things I would do differently. decrease the angle on the feed ramp. Install a spring on the firing pin. Adjust the hammer contact with the firing pin do that it just makes minor contact. Angle the grip to space the rounds a bit. My dad taught me to use cigarette papers as shims when rifling. I used Bugler papers. I found your rail construction to be absolutely marvelous. I would ordinarily braze such a design. Fantastic video! ##### Five Stars
+Jim Key Actually, some of your suggestions have been incorporated. I shorted the firing pin so that there is very little travel or protrusion when the hammer is down. I added a very small return spring on the FP as I suspect that it sometimes causes the spent case from ejecting due to interference with it and the extractor. After installation, the issue went away. I used thin paper to shim the rifling cutter. Do cigarette papers in sight:( I'm quite happy with the feed ramp now. The rounds feed smoothly and reliably. Did you see this? th-cam.com/video/uQlyitOGDUg/w-d-xo.html Thanks for the comments.
Clinton Westwood Yes, Clint I watched every one of the videos and appreciate the logic and your ability to project needed changes before they actually appear. My Father was a machinist and I was good by at it by age 16. . I was most impressed with your rails. I would not have thought in that direction.. I am now 76 and dealing with life's issues. I am beginning to think about building a, "My Friend Knuckle Duster" with a molded Brass frame. In .22 Short.
Thank you so much for the kind comments. You must have had some wonderful opportunities with a father/machinist. My own father let his five little boys free run of his workshop. We cut so much expensive wood up into useless pieces that we thought were great airplanes or birdhouses. He graduated us to handheld power tools as we each grew older and we respected him enough to never cheat. Eventually we were given the keys to the table saw, the most dangerous tool in the shop. Nobody ever got injured. To this day and we are all active with our hands.
+Luís Pita This build has certainly occupied my mind and hands over the last couple of months.I started with low expectations and slowly developed appreciation for the design. I learned a great deal which will allow me to go into the next project with more confidence. Thanks for all the supporting comments. I will be starting a new project shortly.
Very professional looking build. Just goes to show that homemade guns constructed using basic tools don't have to look like they were bodged together in an episode of Junkyard Wars.
+Atimatik Army As always, I was overly optimistic on the time to complete. I think my brain does that sub-consciously so that'll actually start a project. If I knew at the beginning of some build, how long it would "really" take, I probably wouldn't bother:)
That's right, I forgot about all the restrictions on selling modern firearms. That stinks. =/ Would it be possible to _barter_ for one, I wonder? Say, a custom gun for a new machining tool (or tools)? Or even a custom gun for a retail gun worth about the same amount considering material and labor? I'm probably thinking too hard about this...screw it, a guy can dream. =)

Truly inspirational work Clinton. You definitely have a knack for detail. I hit a snag on mine. The fire control group was too large for the frame :( I completely forgot about canceling the print job and few pages in due to low ink when I printed it the first time. When I resumed, I forgot to check the scale! Oh well, lesson learned. I cut out a new one this evening, and began assembly. That is pretty much why I have not uploaded a new video yet. I'm back on track now though, and hope to have a new one up by this weekend.
+Clinton Westwood I like your style, so yeah um.... the springs were SUPER easy to wind, all of the holes are perfectly placed, and all of my cuts were laser straight. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it ;)
I realize this series is long over and you've moved on to bigger/better build(s). But I can't stop watching it. So much so, that I've decided to start a version of the MK.3 as well (carved out the frame plates today). My video skills aren't too keen, so I'm not sure if there will be a video on my channel or not. Been watching the videos by tater97bj, and Waffenschmiedin x. Wow this is absolutely awesome you really made the most beautiful 25auto I have ever seen.. and I have a little collection of some of the finer stuff but you definitely are a gifted person to pull this off.. congratulations to you very well put together.. thumbs up to you
@@clintonwestwood5498 Thanks for the reply I appreciate it. I absolutely love this little thing you have built here.. 1 of a kind for sure.. Luv that you chose to do the build in 6.35mm instead of 22lr I know people like 22 because the ammunition is much cheaper but truthfully i have always looked at it like if you really need a small autoloader you want to know that it is going to be reliable and always going to go bang when you pull the trigger and you can't be sure that will happen 100% with rimfire... hope that you are working on something as cool as the Kricket... for the next one
Clinton Sir, you are very talented. That is one awesome DIY pistol. Maybe after your Kolt380 you should try and design your own pistol. Keep up the good work.
How accurate is that little pistol looks good I like the finishing and custom fit that you went through to get to this point. Great job I work with steel for a living and that's what I love about it the most is you can keep working till you get it right. Great job! would love to see some range videos on the accuracy and reliability.
+Pray & Spray I plan on some range testing. Time and weather hasn't cooperated. I'm very happy with the finish. The micro pits and the synthetic transmission oil I use for lubricant, seems to preserve it perfectly.

Sair Bashir I suggest watch a 13 part series called _What on earth happened_ by Ewaranon to learn that the earth is not a globe. I got it in my about tab.
+jordan horst Oh no, no, no! This is just the beginning. The things I've learned will translate into the next build. Maybe not as extensively published, because that would just be repeats. But I've got a new build planned. This channel will never be a prolific, new-build-a-week thingie, but it will continue on in the spirit of DIY garage junk.
Followed you for a while, really appreciate your workmanship, shame people get all bent out of shape over "gun shaped objects. "How about a full auto to really please the crowd?Neil
Incredible! so much better than the thousand ram-fire, spring and bolt guns. what would be neat, is if you somehow made a compensator of your own design to fit the end of it!
+Clinton Westwood Honestly if you patented this, you could probably make some money. it is really nice for a day project, easily the best I've seen on youtube.
+Rob Horton Thanks for that:) Not really patentable as it's been in the public domain for over a century. Anyway, thanks again for the kind comments and stay tuned for the Kolt380, which is taking what I learned here to a new garage build level.
I'm glad to see that this has been a huge success and is finished. Does anything specific that you learned from this build stick out more than the rest?
+Caleb Burnett I think the original "lay a weld bead and grind into rails/backstrap" is not workable. Beyond that point, as I got into the build, I started to appreciate the good design work. The departures and "improvements" I made were purely of a personal choice, sometimes for cosmetics other times for marginal improvement in function.
its hard to find guns that actually interest me.. i see things i don't like about all of them. but this one.. I absolutely love it. I really wish I could make one. haha but I do not have the skill, patience, or equipment to do so.
Thanks for the kind comments. Are you positive it would be illegal in Canada. I've been told by a viewer that a person can own handguns in Canada, however the restrictions are very high. I know that Australia and Britain are much more restricted, if not prohibited.
+Clinton Westwood We can own handguns but the way things work here is there are 3 classes of firearms , restricted, non restricted and prohibited . Some people here have a prohib class on their license but were grandfathered that privilege because they owned a prohib back before the rules initially changed so they were allowed to keep it and were given that status and now they can still possess prohib but if they ever forget to renew or they no longer own any prohibs then they lose that status and can never get it back . They class firearms here based on barrel length mostly but there is also a lot of stupid stuff too like not being able to take a restricted semi auto rifle into the woods but a non restricted is totally ok, even tho they both function exactly the same . some firearms here are classed the way that they are just because "they look scary".
Interesting. Have you investigated if you can build what you can legally own? If you can own a restricted firearm, can you build it under "restrictions"?
Maybe build without telling anyone. BTW Tytanium I suggest watch a 13 part series called _What on earth happened_ by Ewaranon to learn that the earth is not a globe. I got it in my about tab.
Have you ever thought about doing a collaboration with the Unknown Cat? I'll bet if you combine your genius together you guys could make something out of this world.
Yes his style seems to be bluntly making things work function over form. But your guns certainly take up a style of their own. A certain elegance. It would be really interesting to see what you guys came up with. Certainly you guys could use the Internet to overcome geography. Just use google docs to develop the plans. lol I'm sure google would really get a kick out of you using their software for gun designing.
Why metal sheet is not recommended for making frames and slide and extraction mechanism for Cals higher than .22? And what type of material to make that for 9mm or .36 even a .28
+christian marian The higher stresses just require stronger methods. Sheet metal can be utilized for any firearm, however assembly, material and quality of welding becomes important. Mild steel is only useful for the smaller less powerful cartridges, IMO.
+Clinton Westwood At that point you mind as well go straight up to 9mm. If hi point can do it with 45ACP on a alloy frame, your build should be more than strong enough for "regular" subcalibers.
+Clinton Westwood Its your call. Heck, you have more huevos to actually put your builds online. I live in a *ahem* "regressive" state, so I am only comfortable with building for myself and showing others how to in person. +williwonti 9mm runs at a higher pressure according to SAAMI specs due to the loading being adjusted for newer and more efficient modern powders and better firearms. However, the bolt thrust (what is largely responsible for out of battery kabooms in blowbacks) is still smaller than the 45 ACP. With a generous chamber wall, 9mm is very safe. You would need a heavier slide to run a 45 than a 9mm or even 40S&W
Where are the plans for building these guns? I love doing machine shop projects but never build a complete pistol before. Just small fixes on guns like making new firing pins, or drill n tapping scope mounts , or making grips , stocks. I have been wanting to build a complete one for quite a long time.
+Banana potpie That was the simplest way to go. I've convinced myself that I like it:) Actually the lightly pitted surface seems to hold a thin film of oil very well. The surface are dry to the touch but smell strongly of the synthetic transmission oil that I use.
Did you succeed making .22 model? BTW marcos I suggest watch a 13 part series called _What on earth happened_ by Ewaranon to learn that the earth is not a globe. I got it in my about tab.
Good job on this, Clinton Westwood! Good one. I know you must have mentioned this in one or more of previous videos, but is barrel rifled? Have you recovered any bullets to see how they look?
+Yman83464 Absolutely rifled. It would be a zip gun if not rifled. Check out the photo build log link in the description of every video for recovered bullets and rifling info. There's a video how to as well.
+Pray & Spray That would be an weak acid solution. I've never heard of that process. I know whenever I've cleaned steel with an acid detergent wash before painting, it rusts immediately.
+Bart Bols With a PH of around 2, it makes it a weak acid. That's why if you stick a zinc plated nail and a copper wire into a lemon, you have a battery. Won't start your car, but still a battery:)
This is great, I love it. Its very inspiring! But can I ask what you (or anyone else here) thinks about building this for .22LR instead of .25? I've heard rimfire cartridges doesn't work too well in autoloaders, especially since this is DIY I am sceptical if it will work as well as yours did. Any opinions?
dude, i belive that, if you get a hammer spring strong enough, a 22lr version would be even better. you can use marlin plinkster 10rd mags and a 5.5mm pellet gun barrel, tha you can chop to the desired length
S1lentStr1ke I suggest watch a 13 part series called _What on earth happened_ by Ewaranon to learn that the earth is not a globe. I got it in my about tab.
Amazing, man. Two questions: 1) What did you use for the barrel? Was it explicitly a gun barrel blank? 2) Straight blowback, right? Does that mean you'd need a pretty heavy slide if you moved to higher-pressure cartridges/calibers?
+Graham Hawes First question answered in your previous comment. Correct, straight blowback. Once you get beyond .380, the slide mass increases substantially. Certainly not an impossible situation, but my preference would be for another method of keeping the overall weight down. I will do one more in .380 as blowback, then move up to some delayed locking method. I'm learning as I go and want to stay within the limits of my tooling. I will do other builds in a different venue using real machine tools, but this channel remains the "primitive" one:)
+Clinton Westwood Very cool. I hadn't done the math for slide mass but it makes sense that 9x19 would be a pretty significant increase. Locked action will be a pretty big step up in complexity, I think. I've been trying to figure out the easiest system. Linked tilting-barrel 1911 style would be one choice, but I wonder if a cammed system like in the Hi-Power would be easier to troubleshoot. Unfortunately I don't have a Hi-Power or Glock to disassemble and check out in detail, just a 1911.
Clinton Westwood It does,...but is it "too mutch of a hassle" or an "i prefer it this way" type of thing ? Don't get me wrong, i like it, but haven't seen anybody trying the front spring retainer block thing on this pistol.

i am gonna make 9mm pistol do u think 8.8 bolts can be a good barrel for me or 10.9 or 12.10 i want to make the barrel by myself i dont want to buy barrel blank or anything like that
Heineken I suggest watch a 13 part series called _What on earth happened_ by Ewaranon to learn that the earth is not a globe. I got it in my about tab.
+sharivan31 The difficulty for me is the rimmed cartridge. I had enough problems with a semi-rimmed .25 acp. The feed issues are more difficult with .22's. I may someday work on this when I become more skilled.
you know, if you threaded the spring retaining block retention screws INTO the block itself, you could thread them into the block instead of out and separate. That way you would not have to worry about losing fasteners.

+Pray & Spray I plan on some range testing. Time and weather hasn't cooperated. I'm very happy with the finish. The micro pits and the synthetic transmission oil I use for lubricant, seems to preserve it perfectly.
You did a Damn fine job on your project. I work with steel for a living and know what an art it is.

I'm sorta sad it's over.
+Clinton Westwood maybe a sheet metal carbine or something?
+Clinton Westwood Any chance of you doing a shotgun news build?
+Thegauntlet04 Maybe in the future. I'm going to explore pistols a little further.
+My Line in the sand I'm working my head around an alloy frame, sheet metal slide 1911 lookalike. Chambered in .380, I'll call it the "Kolt 1191" :)
Looks great!
+vipmd thanks
He's a genius.
Awesome! Cant wait for the next!
I'd love to see a Krikit 2.0 with a safety, retaining pins instead of screws, a bolt hold open, and a double-stack mag. Would be sweet
Since that build got me my fame and fortune:) I may have to re-visit it someday.

Incredible! so much better than the thousand ram-fire, spring and bolt guns. what would be neat, is if you somehow made a compensator of your own design to fit the end of it!
+Rob Horton Yes, the slam fire black pipe stuff does get tiresome:)
+Clinton Westwood Honestly if you patented this, you could probably make some money. it is really nice for a day project, easily the best I've seen on youtube.
+Rob Horton DIY
+Rob Horton Thanks for that:) Not really patentable as it's been in the public domain for over a century. Anyway, thanks again for the kind comments and stay tuned for the Kolt380, which is taking what I learned here to a new garage build level.
I didn't see in your videos, how did you drill your barrel?
+Jason Doege The barrel started life as a tube. 1045 DOM. I just reamed to size. That was an easy operation.
Just wondering, did you have any blueprints for this build? Just curious because I'm currently on a 9mm and I'm just kinda building as I go
hi, do you think tht shooting with your left would interfere with the disconect for the sear?
+leon luis kevin sa brum petsch Should be no issue at all. The disconnect bar is completely covered.
kongratulations! (see what I did there) you have done an amazing job and I applaud you
+Acer -A Fantastik, I did see what you did there:)

Acer I suggest watch a 13 part series called _What on earth happened_ by Ewaranon to learn that the earth is not a globe. I got it in my about tab.
Weulf I suggest watch a 13 part series called _What on earth happened_ by Ewaranon to learn that the earth is not a globe. I got it in my about tab.
What a beauty . I am jealous as it would be illegal to build that here in Canada :(
Thanks for the kind comments.
+Clinton Westwood Never really looked into it but probably not, Canada has rules that make no sense.
Maybe build without telling anyone.

+Wulfseal Thanks for the nice comments.
Have you ever thought about doing a collaboration with the Unknown Cat? I'll bet if you combine your genius together you guys could make something out of this world.
+touofthehighplains I certainly follow the TUC and many others on the net. Geography is always an issue.
+Lucas Kroon Yes, we've been in touch. She does awesome work.
Very nice man, well done. It's certainly not simple. Are you currently working on anything else?
Great job man!
+Lil Doggy Ahhh, you finally got to that one:)
Yeah for some reason I dont see all of my subs on my feed. I think I have too many connections.
Very nice pistol. Now what are you going to build next? A sheet metal AK?
+Clinton Westwood I will certainly follow that.
+Clinton Westwood Or Cold :)
+Ragnar “Hagal” Selvik How about Kolt-elevenish. Or just Kolt11.
+Clinton Westwood
Nah, make it a full Chinese knock-off.
Call it the Kolt-Mouser 1119
+ravemastaj That's pretty good, I think I'm going to steal that one. Yoink!
How can we get the templates of the pistols you made?
Nice work.
Thanks.
Beautiful gun
what did you use for the barrel
Why metal sheet is not recommended for making frames and slide and extraction mechanism for Cals higher than .22? And what type of material to make that for 9mm or .36 even a .28
+christian marian The higher stresses just require stronger methods. Sheet metal can be utilized for any firearm, however assembly, material and quality of welding becomes important. Mild steel is only useful for the smaller less powerful cartridges, IMO.
wold there be a way to scale up the design for a larger cartridge such as 380, 9mm, or 45ACP?
A heavier slide would be necessary for a .380. That's the biggest I'd go. In fact, working on it now.
Hello friend, what is the diameter of the pipe you used to make this pistol?
is your gun exactly matches to the pdf? i mean thickness and gauges of the sheets?
Better than anything out of the Khyber pass that's for sure. Can't wait to see the .380. Are you going to switch the design up a little bit?
+williwonti Absolutely. It will still be a garage tool build, but probably a solid alloy frame. Less sheet metal, more solid stuff. Oh, and bigger.
+Clinton Westwood At that point you mind as well go straight up to 9mm. If hi point can do it with 45ACP on a alloy frame, your build should be more than strong enough for "regular" subcalibers.
+Dave Smith Baby steps man, baby steps:)
Dave Smith 9mm is actually more dangerous to make than .45 believe it or not
+Clinton Westwood
Its your call.
The link to the plans are in each of the description of the video. Or, here you go...

great finish :)
+Banana potpie That was the simplest way to go. I've convinced myself that I like it:) Actually the lightly pitted surface seems to hold a thin film of oil very well. The surface are dry to the touch but smell strongly of the synthetic transmission oil that I use.
Clinton Westwood I like it.. I wouldn't mind being able to do that.. I have one option.. Lots if sanding.. :).. Or ugliness.. Usually ugliness
Are you still around to take questions if I was trying to build a pair of my own for fun?
what steel is it made?

Good job on this, Clinton Westwood! Good one. I know you must have mentioned this in one or more of previous videos, but is barrel rifled? Have you recovered any bullets to see how they look?
+Yman83464 Absolutely rifled. It would be a zip gun if not rifled. Check out the photo build log link in the description of every video for recovered bullets and rifling info. There's a video how to as well.

@@flat-earther Ummm Ok. AFTER LSD then. Thanks!
I am very impressed of your work on that pistol and it turned out very nice. :)
Do you know how many hours you put in to it?
+tompas11 Part time work over 12 weeks. Approximately a 100 hours.
22'must be nice!!..&ithink u need modify to get at least 10xRounds for 22!...and how many day that u've been build the guns for?...tks...
Soak it in lemon juice for a few minutes to put a light layer of oxidization on the surface so that it does not rust.
+Bart Bols Yes, it changes alkaline when metabolized in the body as well. Strange stuff.
When you put it like that it doesn't look difficult at all
This is great, I love it. Its very inspiring!
But can I ask what you (or anyone else here) thinks about building this for .22LR instead of .25? I've heard rimfire cartridges doesn't work too well in autoloaders, especially since this is DIY I am sceptical if it will work as well as yours did. Any opinions?
dude, i belive that, if you get a hammer spring strong enough, a 22lr version would be even better.
you can use marlin plinkster 10rd mags and a 5.5mm pellet gun barrel, tha you can chop to the desired length

is this a homemade version of the FIE titan 25?
best one i have seen.
+lisa morrison Thanks. I tried to make it not look like junk;)
what would you charge for a *parts kit* to make my own?
Amazing, man. Two questions:
1) What did you use for the barrel?
What would it take to make a M1911 front spring retainer block type of idea on this instead of the screws though the slide ?
Not sure. This seems to work well.
Clinton Westwood It does,...but is it "too mutch of a hassle" or an "i prefer it this way" type of thing ?
Don't get me wrong, i like it, but haven't seen anybody trying the front spring retainer block thing on this pistol.

Hello, great and amazing job :) why not have chosen to do in 22lr ??
+sharivan31 The difficulty for me is the rimmed cartridge. I had enough problems with a semi-rimmed .25 acp. The feed issues are more difficult with .22's. I may someday work on this when I become more skilled.
you know, if you threaded the spring retaining block retention screws INTO the block itself, you could thread them into the block instead of out and separate. That way you would not have to worry about losing fasteners.
