I can personally recommend the black pepper trick for a slow leak in a radiator. Just sprinkle a bit in and the grains find the holes and clog it up, it has worked for me for multiple cars
You need to do an episode on rebuilding that slant six. Clifford performance makes everything you’d need. Put that six in a small barracuda or even a small ford.
Saying a lot about how tough those 225 engines were. My cousin was broke needed a car and bought an old dart 4 door from a neighbor. Drove it to work for 9 years, and was still running at 155,000 miles. never need more than plugs points and a ballast resistor.
The Leaning Tower of (very little) Power! That 4 door has upwards of 7 good parts. Glass, a couple of doors, maybe front fenders... You could make 3 or 4 cars with that one!
Last spring we took two road trips south! From Buffalo to Charlotte and back in March, Buffalo to Mammoth cave, to Sgt. York’s homestead on the way to Pigeon Forge, through Gettysburg and back home! You are correct! Beautiful country!
Milky oil can sometimes be the crankcase breather on the valve cover, or the PCV valve, I would check those first and do a compression check before concluding a definite head gasket. Great find Dylan, can't wait to see the progress on this one. It will be an excellent donor. Thank you for sharing.
Idk why so many people are so fanatical about the number of doors, over condition or cool factor. It's not like they're making these cars anymore, why do people continually die on such a trivial hill
Heck yeah, the LAPD had some badass '68-'70 Belvedere sedans that were like 4 door RoadRunners. This car done like one of those slick top with the black and white livery would be slick. I like an A,B or C body Mopar sedan anymore if you manage to find a clean one it's something special.
The videos of Thunderhead 289 & “Junkyard Digs” Kevin getting that Satellite running way back when is still my all-time favorite! Nice to see that the car will get some much needed TLC! Thanks for taking the time & trouble to bring another Satellite home for parts!
Put a little bit of the thick oil treatment in first then put some oil in the little bottle and shake it up to mix and thin and then it will pour better
Hey Dylan I love your content I watch every video you upload. I have learned so much from watching you . Keep up the hood in reviving these classic cars . Much love , Dalton
Seeing as it has the same rims as the General Lee, it definitely deserves a second chance at life with a V-8 engine whether it’s a 318, 360, 383, or 440. It definitely looks like it should have a V-8 instead of the slant six that it has. I found it kind of funny and comical that the rotted floor and trunk floor of the car were replaced with wood. I’m also relieved that you got home in one piece. I’m really looking forward to the project that this car becomes.
Maaan, this adventure seriously tugged at my heartstrings... nearly to the point of tears. My very first car was a 4-door '70 Belvedere, tan outside, blue interior. Looked just like that one, only zero rust (ex LAPD cruiser). Mine never lacked for power, had the 318 Interceptor. One impromptu stoplight dragrace, that car blew the doors off a '76 Z28 with a 350. Sadly, that "dodo" of an engine kept me from being able to Smog it, and the State of Commiefornia eventually impounded it... "STOLE" it from me, far as I'm concerned.🤨 I'll miss that car til my dying day. 😔
The Hills of KY are full of those cars, all makes,,, you just have to keep your eyes open, I picked up a 1964 Falcon , years ago for 900 bucks, and drove it home to Nashville,, even got a couple of awards with it,,.
You n me both. 👍🏼 I come from a Chevy family, but the first car I bought was a low-mile, perfect condition '70 Belvedere 4-dr, for $300. I'll never forget that car.
😂 its soo weird seeing you drive through Clarksville. It just tripped me out seeing the exact roads i drive almost everyday. Ya i can stand the city either we live up in erin. Sweet car man! Live them four doors!
I lived in Clarksville for 8 years on and off, now I'm down south of Columbia, it almost made me miss Clarksville seeing it in the video, I almost moved back 5 years to Clarksville but after seeing how much has changed compared to how it was between '97-'08, I was really turned off and looked for an area with less people and less problems.
Well, at least with an old school OHV engine it's really easy to replace the valve stem seals...but for some reason I'm expecting that to be in conjunction with worn out piston rings...
Here's a useless fact for y'all - Jimi Hendrix was stationed at Fort Campbell. He was a paratrooper. Broke his ankle on a jump, then got discharged. Then started playing guitar on "the chitlin' circuit", with Little Richard and the Isley Brothers, and the rest, as they say, is history.
I’ll add to this. Jimi Hendrix played his guitar upside down because he was left-handed and couldn't find a left-handed guitar. He refused to learn with his right hand and instead innovated by using a regular right-handed guitar and flipping it over
This kind of trip is a right of passage for TH-cam of your ilk! I have definitely done a road trip like this! Both buying a vehicle and/or helping a friend in need! 🍺🍻😎
My brothers were stationed at Ft Campbell its nice love the museum. My cousin was stationed there when they lost a lot of its members during the war on Terrorism
Dylan, may I make a suggestion ? I know they are not cheap, but if you get a chance, I would suggest that you purchase a trailer to hook up to the truck that you can load these cars you buy and tow them home where you can work on them without worrying about whether or not you'll make it home.
wow, 250 miles and u arrived safe and sound, what a car! great video there, couldn't wait for u to work on the black satellite and the blue one man. cheers!

...wooden floor..."basically it's a truck now..." lol that's funny 😅. Probably hold more than most modern trucks lol. Dylan McCool brings old American classic cars back to life with his remarkable rebuilding skills. His channel is a haven for nostalgia lovers and gearheads who appreciate the art of restoration. Watching Dylan transform a rusted, forgotten vehicle into a roadworthy gem is immensely satisfying. His dedication to preserving automotive history and his hands-on approach provide educational content, teaching viewers about the mechanics and value of classic cars. Dylan's passion for breathing new life into these old beauties is contagious, making his channel a favorite for those who cherish vintage cars and the stories they tell. On the other hand, WhistlinDiesel offers a completely different kind of thrill with his high-octane stunts and daring destruction of brand new supercars. His channel is all about pushing boundaries and testing the limits of what these high-performance machines can endure. For viewers who love adrenaline-pumping action and unconventional content, WhistlinDiesel delivers in spades. The excitement of watching him take a brand new supercar and subject it to extreme conditions is both shocking and entertaining. His fearless approach to content creation keeps viewers on the edge of their seats, wondering what he'll do next.

The egg trick works really good, but you have to make sure you dont put the cap on all the way in order for it to work on a long drive home. Evaporated milk also works really good.
Cool road trip :) Being from Denmark, I have a hard time getting the 2-door/4-door thing. To me, any old American car would make a great project! Obviously, when you have a dozen cars and limited time, you'd prioritize the coolest ones, but I'd be just as happy tinkering on a 4-door or wagon! I grew up with small 1-2 liter Japanese and European cars (not that I did much fixing), and we have very strict laws about the condition of body, brakes, electrics ect. Four doors are for people who have friends!
Back in those days, even the 4 door cars looked good. This one is beyond restoring due to the cost versus value, but it's still a coll car.
Thanks for taking us along, Dylan! Quite the adventure! Glad you two made it safely back home.
I had a 1973 Plymouth Satellite that I paid $100 for in 1996. It was a great car with tons of power, and super smooth.
A 73 Satellite for 100 bucks. Damn! I'm an old-school Mopar head/geek/nerd, and I say, again, DAMN!
@@NileKelly I left it abandoned on the road in 1996, too. OUCH. Now I look back, it probably just needed a battery.
